arrowkeys inthechartsection atthesame timeoncewillfreezethe
display.
Whilethedisplayisstopped,
the
toplineonthe
displaywillflash
onand offtosignify
thattheunit isin thefreezemode.
Pressing
both
arrowkeys again
will startthe
displaymovingatthe lastchartspeed
setting. Ifthe
digitalsonarison,thebottomwillcontinue
tobedisplayed
onthescreen.The

Onthe0-10foot
range,
each mark
indicates
onefoot,while onthe 0-20
footscale eachmarkindicatestwo
feet, etc.Thescalemarkerscanalsobeused on ranges
deeperthan60
feetForexample, ifthe rangeis0-100feet,each markisequal
to10feet.
LOWERLIMIT
Tochange
thelowerlimit, firstmakecertaintheword "AUTO"isnot
displayed
atthetop
ofthescreen,
signifying
thattheautomaticmode is
off. (Note:Thisalsodisablestheautomatic
sensitivityfunction.)
Ifthe
automatic
modeison,presstheAUTOkeyoncetodisableit.Next,
press
thedownarrowkey
intheRANGE section ofthe
keyboard.
Eachtimethe
downarrowispressed, thelower limitwillswitch tothenextdeeper
scale.Pressing the
uparrow keywillchangethelowerlimittothe next
shallowerscale.
Theavailable
depthrangesare10,20,40, 60, 100,200,
and.400feet.The
display
willimmediately
changetothenewdepth
range anddisplay
thenew lower,limit
atthebottom
ofthescreen.
SENSITIVITY
Whenfirstturnedon,theZ-5000isin the
AUTOSEARCH mode.This
means
the
sensitivity
and rangeare automaticallyadjustedby
themicro-
computer
tofindandlockontothebottom.Thesensitivity
canbeleftin
theautomatic
modeoritcanbemanuallyadjusted
tosuitconditions.
Thesensitivity
level isdisplayedbyahorizontal
bar atthe
top
ofthe
display.
Whenthesensitivity isatminimum,
thebar isveryshort.As
sensitivity
isincreased,
thebarwilltraveltotherightincreasingin length
correspondingly.
Whenthesensitivity
isset
tomaximum, the bar will
extendacrossthe
topofthedisplay.
Tomanuallyadjustthe
sensitivity, presstheAUTO
keyonce,and auto
sensitivity
willbeturnedoff.ThewordAUTOat
the
topofthe
displaywill
disappear,
signifying thattheZ-5000isin themanualmode.To increase
the
sensitivity, press
and hold therightarrow keyuntilthesensitivity
isat
thedesired level.Theleftarrowdec.reases
sensitivity
inthe
same
manner. Noticehowthe
sensitivity
barmovesasyouchangesettings.
Whenyoupressthe rightarrowkey,thebarmovestothe
right indicating
anindreasein sensitivity. Pressing
theleftarrowkeymovesthebartothe
left, indicatingthesensitivity hasdecreasedaccordingly.
