HELPFUL HINTS
 Read he direc ions before assembly.
 If your spreader does no spread evenly, be sure “FRONT” on he GEARBOX poin s o he fron of he spreader. The
impeller must turn clockwise when pushing forward. Reversing he GEARBOX during assembly will cause issues.
 Your spreader is calibra ed for hree miles per hour, which is a brisk walking speed. Slower or fas er speeds will
change he spread pa ern. We fer ilizer will also change he spread pa ern and flow ra e. Do not use powdered
materials as it will damage the gearbox.
 Gears are permanen ly lubrica ed a he fac ory. Do no open he GEARBOX or dir may en er.

SPREADER ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Remove he spreader and par s from
he car on and arrange on he floor.
Step 2: Ins all he bearing in o he LOWER
HANDLES. Note: No ch on BEARINGS and slo in
he LOWER HANDLES ha he bearing fi s in o.
BEARINGS mus go hrough fla side of LOWER
HANDLE (from he ou side o he inside).
SLIDE AXLE BUSHING over AXLE and in o AXLE
BEARING o bo h sides as shown.
Step 3: Ins all DRIVE WHEEL on o he AXLE
and align wi h he Co er Pin hole neares o he
LOWER HANDLES as shown. Inser 2” Co er Pin
hrough WHEEL and hrough AXLE. Bend wi h
pliers o preven pin from falling ou .

Bend wi h pliers o preven pin from falling ou .
Step 5:
Now remove he PIVOT BRACKET
from THE LOWER HANDLES. Keep he 1/4 -20 x
2” bol s and locknu s for use in reins alla ion.
Step 6: Ins all HANDLE SHAFT INTO LOWER
HANDLES and hen rea ach he PIVOT BRACKET
assembly as shown on o he LOWER HANDLES
using wo 1/4 -20 x 2” bol s and locknu s.
TIGHTEN BOLTS AND NUTS NOW.
Step 7: Remove one 1/4-20 Hex Nu from
he CONTROL ROD. Nex , push LEVER
forward o se ing “0” o help align he
CONTROL ROD wi h hole in PIVOT BRACKET,
pull LEVER backward o inser CONTROL
ROD hrough hole in PIVOT BRACKET. Now
ins all 1/4-20 regular nu on o CONTROL
ROD.

UPPER HANDLES o HANDLE SHAFT, UPPER
HANDLES fea ure wo posi ions for opera or’s
comfor .
If opera or chooses upper posi ion, use HANDLE
SPACER in hole neares o HANDLE GRIPS.
Inser 2” bol hrough UPPER HANDLE, hen
hrough HANDLE SPACER hrough o her UPPER
HANDLE and secure wi h locknu . DO NOT
TIGHTEN LOCKNUT YET. TIGHTEN THIS NUT
LAST.
Now slide he UPPER HANDLE assembly over
he HANDLE SHAFT (on the end with the bolt
holes closer to the end). Ins all GAUGE &
LEVER using (2) 2” bol s. Be sure GAUGE is on
lef hand side. Tigh en locknu s o GAUGE firs .
TIGHTEN ALL HARDWARE NOW
Step 10:
Inser PIVOT ROD in o SHUT
-
OFF PLATE as shown. Turn o lock in place.
Thigh en ALL hardware hen inser o her end of PIVOT ROD in o PIVOT AND BRACKET assembly as shown. Turn o lock
in place.
Step 11: Tigh en ALL hardware hen inser o her end of PIVOT ROD in o PIVOT AND BRACKET assembly as shown.
Turn o lock in place.
Step 12: Ins all HANDLE SHAFT o LOWER HANDLEs and PIVOT & BRACKET assembly as shown. Using 2″ bol s and
locknu s. TIGHTEN BOLTS AND NUTS NOW.

TO COMPLETE ASSEMBLY
Ins all AGITATOR, bend he AGITATOR up sligh ly o preven con ac wi h he STANDARD-OUTPUT ray, and ins all debris screen.
Press over 1/4 urn fas eners o secure
This only applies to the RED 3-hole drop STANDARD-OUTPUT Trays.
The HIGH-OUTPUT (Blue) and LOW-OUTPUT (Black) Trays do not use the AGITATOR or DEBRIS SCREEN shown below.
TRAY INSTALLATION
Step 1: Ensure he hopper is clean and here is no debris rapped
around he ray moun ing area.
Step 2: Ins all he PIVOT ROD CLIP in o he Shu -off of he selec ed
TRAY.
Step 3: Inser he PIVOT ROD in o he CLIP. TIP: The CLIP may have a
burr in he hole, use a Phillips screwdriver o remove he burr. See o make
ins alling he PIVOT ROD easier. Pliers may be required o help squeeze he
PIVOT ROD in o he CLIP.
Step 4: When he ROD is secure inside he CLIP push he free end of he
CLIP over he PIVOT ROD o firmly secure he rod o he clip.
Step 5: I ns all he TRAY from he op downwards in o he hopper (see
figure) posi ioning he cen er hole of he ray over he PINION SHAFT from he
gear box wi h he PIVOT ROD hrough he bo om of he hopper and facing
oward he spreader’s handlebar. For ease of loca ing in o posi ion he shu -off of
he chosen ray is bes in he open posi ion, wi h he excep ion of he red
STANDARD-OUTPUT TRAY where he wo adjus able hrowing por s are bes in
he closed posi ion.
NOTE: The gearbox can be moved along he axle o ease aligning of he ray hole
and he PINION SHAFT.

Step 6: Once he ray is in place check ha he ray is sealed
and flush agains he hopper sides. To check if he ray is properly
loca ed, push he ray edges downwards.
Step 7: Ins all he wo quar er urn fas eners (see figure)
hrough he wo exposed ray holes and push down and wis a
quar er urn o secure.
Step 8: Las ly, connec he free end of he PIVOT ROD in o
he PIVOT linkage a he bo om of he CONTROL ROD. Posi ion
he CLIP in o he free hole and push he PIVOT ROD in o he
clip. TIP: The CLIP may have a burr in he hole, use a Phillips
screwdriver o remove he burr (see figure).
Step 9: When he PIVOT ROD is posi ioned inside he CLIP
push he free end of he CLIP over he PIVOT ROD o firmly
secure he rod and he clip oge her.
SPREADER CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS
HIGH-OUTPUT and LOW-OUTPUT TRAY:
Make sure he drop holes in he bo om of he hopper are FULLY CLOSED when he RATE CONTROL LEVER is res ing on
he S op #0.
If he shu -off is no se correc ly, please adjus CONTROL ROD a he PIVOT o posi ion he shu -off for FULLY CLOSED
a posi ion a he S op #0 on he RATE CONTROL LEVER. As a side note, the HIGH-OUTPUT and OW-OUTPUT TRAYS
do not include or use a horizontal agitator.
Calibration Adjustment
Review he CONTROL LEVER posi ion o confirm ha i is se so ha he
forward edge of he LEVER is res ing a #0 ( he s op) and he drop holes
are closed. Move he spreader back & for h o ensure ha he cam is
posi ioned o allow he oscilla ing shu -off o close fully. If he shu -off is
no properly posi ioned, you will need o adjus he CONTROL ROD a he
PIVOT BRACKET shown below.
TIP: If your shu -off is no able o CLOSE fully, loosen he op nu a few urns, hen igh en he lower nu so ha i allows
you o push he shut-off fully closed. Nex , igh en each nu so ha hey con ac he PIVOT BRACKET wi hou moving i ,
and hen carefully igh en each nu fully so hey do no loosen during use. Recheck adjus men as ou lined above.

Then, if he CONTROL LEVER does no s ay in posi ion causing he se ing ra e o
change wi hou your in erven ion, you can adjus he drag on he LEVER by igh ening
or loosening he nu shown o he righ un il he drag is appropria e.

 While pushing spreader forward, pull con rol lever back o s op bol , o s op spreading, push lever forward o close
flow holes before you s op moving.
 When finished, emp y any remaining ma erial from hopper, rinse spreader, apply coa ing of ligh oil o all me al
par s. The gearbox is sealed and is fac ory lubrica ed.
The SideSpread-Control is a pa en ed innova ion ha is superior o side deflec ors. Side deflec ors
block ma erial leaving he impeller. This blocked ma erial is now consolida ed in o a 2-3” wide pa h
on he lef inside wheel of your spreader. This equa es o was ed fer ilizer, dark green s ripes, and in some
cases his ex ra fer ilizer (seven imes) will damage he lawn.
SideSpread-Control main ains he correc applica ion ra e while no placing ma erial on driveways, sidewalks,
flowerbeds, or worse, he s orm drains in your s ree . This saves you money and keeps you from damaging your lawn.
To engage SideSpread-Control:
1) Loca e he lever on under he righ side of he hopper.
2) Slide he con rol lever from he fron o he back.
3) Posi ion he lef wheel of your spreader 6″–12″ from he sidewalk, flowerbed, or driveway and spread as
normal.
4) When you have comple ed his spreading pass, close he con rol lever o “0”, and hen open he SideSpred-
Control™ by sliding he con rol lever from back o he fron , for a FU , 180 degree spread pa ern.
