Operating Instructions
D-Drive EM-1701A-C10 Electronic Combination Controller
l This manual is used for SafeLogic C10 D-Drive EM-1701A-C10 EntryPad used in conjunction
with DL-1701 D-Drive DeadBolt Lock Body.
l
ATTENTIONS:
l For indoor use only.
l Battery Low Voltage: The entrypad will alert low battery, when battery voltage is low. PLEASE
REPLACE THE BATTERY IMMEDIATELY. MAKE SURE A 9V ALKALINE BATTERY
IS USED.
l Install the 9V ALKALINE battery in the back of the EntryPad. Refer to the instructions of
“Replace the battery”.
l For Mounting and wiring, please refer to the installation instruction.
FEATURES:
1. 10 User Codes Capacity
a. Recovery code: Resets controller back to manufacturer’s default settings. Can’t open lock.
Recovery Code must be changed from default.
b. Super Code (ID0): Open lock, set functions, and manage Manager Code. Manufacturer default
super code is 1-1-1-1-1-1.
c. Manager Code (ID1): Open lock and manage user code(s). Manufacturer default super code is
1-2-3-4-5-6.
d. User Code (ID2~9): Opens lock. No default user code(s) and can be added.
2. Wrong Entry Penalty
Entry of four (4) consecutive invalid codes results in a 5-minute penalty time period.
a. The unit beeps at 5 second intervals indicating that it is still in the penalty time period.
b. While the system is in the penalty time, the entrypad buttons remain unresponsive. Pressing
buttons during penalty will not restart or lengthen the penalty time period. It will continue to
count through the 5 minute penalty time period.
c. While the system is in penalty time, removal of the battery will not interrupt the penalty time
countdown. Upon reinstallation of the battery, the entrypad continues to count down until the 5
minute penalty time expires.

3. Standby Status
In order to conserve battery power, the system will revert to standby status if there is no key press
within 10 seconds. Standby status is indicated by two short beeps.
4. Automatic Re-lock
The motor turns to open with a valid code entry, rotate the keypad to the right to open. The motor
automatically relocks after 6 seconds, then rotate the keypad to the left to close the lock.
5. Low Battery Alert
a. Repeated beeping (8 beeps) during an unlock operation indicates that the battery is low and needs
immediate replacement.
b. Manufacturer recommends the use of 9-Volt standard alkaline battery (Duracell or Energizer
brands are recommended) replaced annually.
6. Single and Dual User Mode
a. Single Mode: Open lock with one (1) code.
b. Dual Mode: Open lock with two (2) codes (manager and user code).
7. Time Delay and Time Window
a. Time Delay: A time period of waiting for the lock to open. The maximum Time Delay is forty
(40) minutes.
b. Time Window: A time period for entering the code(s) to open lock after Time Delay. The
maximum Time Window is twenty (20) minutes.
USER OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. ALWAYS PERFORM OPERATIONS WITH THE ENTRYPAD UNLOCK AND
THE SAFE DOOR OPEN.
2. Before closing the door, make sure all of the changes are correct.
3. Do not set the user code to six “0” or other simple code like “1-2-3-4-5-6” that is
easy to guess.
4. Do remember to change the default code after installation.
5. Do not make the code you want to set include your personal data like birthday or
other data that could be derived from having knowledge about you.
QUICK START

1. Change Code
a. Enter “0” six times. One beep will sound, indicating that the entry is valid and the system is
awaiting the code change.
b. Enter the existing six (6) digit code one time. One beep will sound, which indicates that the entry
is valid.
c. Enter a new six (6) digit code one time. One beep will sound, indicating the entry is valid.
d. Re-enter the new six (6) digit code. One beep will sound, indicating the codes entered in steps c
and d are the same and the code changing process is successful.
e. If two beeps sound, the code change process has been unsuccessful. The existing code is still
valid. Repeat steps a to d.
f. Record the new code.
Note:
a. Verify the new super code at least 3 times before closing the door to make sure the code is correct.
b. The system will revert to standby status if there is no key press within 10 seconds. Standby status
is indicated by two short beeps.
c. User Code can’t be 000000 or 999999.
2. Add Manager code
Note: New lock has a default manager code 1-2-3-4-5-6. If this code has been deleted, follow these
steps to add the manager code:
a. Enter the Super Code and hold down the last digit of this code until one beep sounds, followed
by two beeps.
b. Press button “1”. One beep sounds, indicating that the system is ready to receive the new
Manager Code.
c. Enter a desired six (6) digit code once. One beep sounds, indicating that the entry is valid.
d. Repeat the six digit code. One beep will sound, indicating that the six digit codes entered were
the same and the addition of the manager code was successful.
e. If two beeps sound, the programming attempt was unsuccessful. Repeat steps a through d.
3. Add User
a. Enter the manager code and hold down last digit of code until one beep sounds, followed by two
beeps.
b. Press button “1”. One beep sounds, prompting the entry of the user ID.
c. Enter a user ID (2~9). For example, press 2 to enter user ID 2, one beep sounds, indicating that
the system is ready to receive the new user code.
d. Enter a desired six (6) digit code once. One beep sounds, indicating that the entry is valid.
e. Repeat the six digit code. One beep will sound, indicating that the six digit codes entered were
the same and the addition of the manager code was successful.
f. If two beeps sound, the programming attempt was unsuccessful. Repeat steps a through e.
Note:
a. Ver ify the new code at least 3 times before closing the door to make sure the code has been

indicated by two short beeps.

4. Open Lock (Single User Mode)
To open the lock, enter user or manager code, then rotate the keypad to the right to open. After 6
seconds, the lock relocks. Rotate the keypad to the left to close.
5. Disable Manager
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until one beep sounds, followed by two
beeps.
b. Press button “2”, one beep will sound, indicating that the disabling manager is successful.
c. Enter the disabled manager code to make sure the code is disabled.
6. Disable User
a. Enter the manager code and hold down last digit of code until one beep sounds, followed by two
beeps.
b. Press button “2”, one beep will sound, prompting the entry of the user ID.
c. Enter a user ID (2~9). For example, press 2 to disable user ID 2, one beep sounds, one beep will
sound, indicating that the disabling user is successful.
d. Enter the disabled user code to make sure the code is disabled.
7. Enable Manager
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until one beep sounds, followed by two
beeps.
b. Press button “1”, one beep will sound, indicating the enabling manager is successful.
8. Enable User
a. Enter the manager code and hold down last digit of code until one beep sounds, followed by two
beeps.
b. Press button “1”, One beep will sound, prompting the entry of the user ID.
c. Enter a user ID (2~9). For example, press 2 to enable user ID 2, one beep will sound, indicating
that the enabling user is successful.
Note:

9. Delete Manager
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until one beep sounds, followed by two
beeps.
b. Press button “3”, one beep will sound, indicating the deleting manager is successful.
c. Enter the deleted manager code to make sure the code is deleted.

10. Delete User
a. Enter the manager code and hold down last digit of code until one beep sounds, followed by two
beeps.
b. Press button “3”, one beep will sound, prompting the entry of the user ID.
c. Enter a user ID (2~9). For example, press 2 to delete user ID 2, one beep will sound, indicating
the deleting user is successful.
d. Enter the deleted user code to make sure the code is deleted.
Note:
In Dual User Mode, when super code deletes manager code, the manager code and user code will be
both deleted and single user mode is set.
11. Enable Dual User Mode (Manager & User Code to Unlock)
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until two beeps sounds.
b. Press button “8” to set controller to dual user mode.
Note:
a. Make sure that the manager and user codes are both set and enabled before setting Dual User
Mode.
b. After setting Dual User Mode, manager code cannot set functions of user code, such as disabling
or deleting.
c. In Dual User Mode, when super code deletes codes, the manager code and user code will be both
deleted and single user mode is set.
d. In Dual User Mode, super code disables / enables manager code and user code at the same time.
12. Disable Dual User Mode
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until two beeps sounds.
b. Press button “0” to set controller to single user mode.
13. Set / Change Time Delay & Time Window Mode
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until two beeps sounds.
b. Press button “9”, one beep will sound, prompting the entry of the time delay and time window
parameter.
c. Enter a six (6) digit number in the range of 001001 – 040020. The first 3 digits are for the Time
Delay and the second 3 digits are for the Time Window. The maximum Time Delay is forty (40)
minutes, and the maximum Time Window is twenty (20) minutes. For example, to set a fifteen
(15) minute Time Delay and a three (3) minute Time Window, enter 015003.
Note:
a. Super Code is Time Delay overridden. If enter the super code, the controller will always unlock
immediately.
b. Set Time Delay and Time Window parameter to 000yyy to cancel time delay.
OPERATE ENTRY PAD WITHOUT TIME DELAY &TIME WINDOW
1. Single User Mode

a. Enter code.
b. One beep sounds and the lock opens.
2. Dual User Mode
a. Enter both user and manager codes.
b. One beep sounds and the lock opens.
OPERATE ENTRY PAD WITH TIME DELAY & TIME WINDOW
1. Single User Mode
a. Enter code.
b. One beep sounds followed by four beeps sound indicating the controller starts Time Delay
period.
c. One beep sounds every ten (10) seconds.
d. Four beeps sound at the end of Time Delay period indicating the start of the Time Window period.
Two beeps sound every ten (10) seconds during Time Window period.
e. Enter code again within Time Window to unlock.
2. Dual User Mode
a. Enter code.
b. One beep sounds followed by four beeps sound indicating the controller starts Time Delay
period.
c. One beep sounds every ten (10) seconds.
d. Four beeps sound at the end of Time Delay period indicating the start of the Time Window period.
Two beeps sound every ten (10) seconds during Time Window period.
e. Enter both user and manager codes to unlock.
Note:
a. When unlocking by super code, the controller is unlocked without time delay and time window.
b. During the time window if the code is not entered, the controller will be locked after time window
period with four beeps sound.
c. Press button 0 to exist time delay.
14. Set TDO user
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until two beeps sounds.
b. Press button “4”, one beep will sound, prompting the entry of the TDO user ID.
c. Enter the user ID (2~9), one beep sounds, indicating that the setting of TDO user is successful.
15. Delete TDO user
a. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until two beeps sounds.
b. Press button “4”, one beep will sound.
c. Press button “0”, one beep will sound, indicating that the deleting of TDO user is successful.
16. Extract audit trail
a. Connect the USB receiver to the entrypad.

b. Enter the super code and hold down last digit of code until two beeps sounds.
c. Press button “7”, one beep will sound, followed by one more beep indicating that the extracting
is successful.
17. Recovery
a. Enter the recovery code and hold down last digit of code until two beeps sounds.
b. Press button “3”, one beep will sound, indicating that the recovery is successful.
18. Reset the Controller to Manufacturer’s Default
1. If the actuator and entry pad are securely connected and the battery is installed:
a. Remove the cable.
b. Press the reset button with a pin for about 2 or 3 times.
c. Press and hold the reset button for more than 3 seconds, then reconnect the cable, one beep
will sound, release the reset button.
d. The controller has been reset back to manufacture’s default.
Note:
If no beep sound, Repeat steps a through c.
2. Reset the lock to connect with a new entrypad.
a. Remove the entrypad.
b. Press the reset button with a pin for about 2 or 3 times.
c. Connect a new entrypad with the lock.
d. Three beeps will sound, press button “0” within 10 seconds, one beep will sound indicating
the binding is successful.
e. Enter a valid code to see if the lock can be opened, if not, refer to steps a-d above.
