Important notes
1. This product should be installed, commissioned and maintained by or under the supervision of a
competent electrician in accordance with the current electrical engineering Codes of Practice, BS7671
(IET Wiring Regulations), Statutory requirements, and any specific instructions issued by Eaton.
2. After completing the installation and testing of this product it is essential that the user instruction leaflet is
drawn to the attention of the person responsible for its future operation and maintenance and is at all
times available for ready reference.
3. These notes assume throughout that the product is disconnected from the supply. It is essential that this
is done before any work is carried out.
4. The use to which this product is put and its place of installation is outside of Eaton´s control. Particular
care should therefore be taken to follow these instructions and to ensure their continued availability in
conjunction with the use of the product. No responsibility can be accepted by Eaton if these instructions
are disregarded.

Installation instructions
1. Normal precautions should be taken to guard against swarf/dust entering isolators and any remaining
debris in the bottom of the box should be removed.
2. All unused sub circuit positions must have an associated blank plate fitted in the box cover. Ensure all
terminal shields are replaced.
3. Appropriate Isolator devices: EMS631N, EMS1001N
4. The EAN Full Metal Box and appropriate devices have been type tested to the following specifications:
Main Switch : IEC/EN 60947-3
Wall fixing / dimensions
Torque settings and cable capacity
ISOLATOR –2,5 Nm –50 mm²
Earth points: 2,0 Nm –M5 bolt for cable lug
Important: Tighten all connections to the specified torques, including factory made connections.
The terminals are suitable for copper connections ONLY.
Testing of the installation
1. After completion of the installation, it is essential that a test is carried out in accordance with the latest
Edition of the BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).
2. It is important that the following are included in 1 above:
Check that all connectors, are fitted correctly and all screw type connections are tightened
sufficiently.
