GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Fail to follow the
warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, re and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power
tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
WORK AREA SAFETY
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence
of ammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite
the dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions
can cause you to lose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do
not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodied
plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if
your body is earthed or grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power
tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor
use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current
device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

PERSONAL SAFETY
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a
power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the inuence
of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective
equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing
protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before
connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the
tool. Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or energizing power
tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A
wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in
personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables
better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing
and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection
facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust devices
can reduce dust-related hazards.
POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.
The correct power tool will do the job better and more safely at the rate for
which it was designed.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power
tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the
power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing
power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the
power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tools
operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control;
Use the power tool, accessories, tool bits, etc. in accordance with these
instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended
could result in a hazardous situation.

Check damaged parts before further use of the hedge trimmer. A guard or other
part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate
properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts,
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other condition that
may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly
repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless indicated elsewhere
in this manual.
Check the blade and motor mounting bolts at frequent intervals for proper
tightness. Also, visually inspect blade for damage (e.g., bent, cracked, and worn).
Replace the blade only with a blade from EGOTM.
Replace the blade if it is bent or cracked. An unbalanced blade causes vibration
that could damage the motor drive unit or cause personal injury.
If the equipment should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the motor and check
immediately for the cause. Vibration is generally a warning of trouble.
The trimmer shall be used to cut stems less than (22mm) thick.

Before starting the hedge trimmer, maintain proper footing and balance and do
not overreach. Wear safety goggles, non-skid footwear and rubber gloves. Hold
the unit with both hands with the cutting blades directed away from you. Always
use the hedge trimmer properly.
Keep from trimming too much at one time. This can cause the blades to bind and
slow, reducing the cutting efciency.
Do not force the hedge trimmer through heavy shrubbery. This can cause the
blades to bind and slow down. If the blades slow down, reduce the pace of
your work.
When trimming new growth, use a wide sweeping action, so that the stems are
fed directly into the cutting blade. Older growth will have thicker stems and will
be trimmed most easily by using a sawing movement.
Always cut stems or twigs that are less than 22mm. thick. Use a non-powered
hand saw or pruning saw to trim large stems.
TOP CUTTING
Use a wide sweeping motion (see Fig. 7).
A slight downward tilt of the cutting
blades in the direction of motion gives
the best cutting results. If desired, you
can use a string to help guide you as you
cut your hedge level. Decide how high you
want the hedge. Then, stretch a piece of
string along the hedge at this height. Trim
the hedge just above this guide line.
TO START THE HEDGE TRIMMER
Your hedge trimmer is equipped with two switch levers. Both switch levers need to be
pressed for the hedge trimmer to start. Depress and hold the switch lever in the front
handle and press the switch lever in the rear handle to start the hedge trimmer.
TO STOP THE HEDGE TRIMMER
Move hedge trimmer away from cutting area, release one of the switch levers to stop
the hedge trimmer.
WARNING: Always remove the battery pack from the hedge trimmer during
work breaks and after nishing work.
USING THE HEDGE TRIMMER
WARNING: If the blade jams on any electrical cord or line, DO NOT TOUCH THE
BLADE! IT CAN BECOME ELECTRICALLY LIVE AND VERY DANGEROUS. Continue to hold
the hedge trimmer by the insulated rear handle or lay it down and away from you in
a safe manner. Disconnect the electrical service to the damaged line or cord before
attempting to free the blade from the line or cord. Failure to heed this warning will
result in serious personal injury or possible death.
WARNING: If any parts are missing, damaged or broken, do not operate your
trimmer until they have been replaced. Failure to do so could result in possibly serious
personal injury.
WARNING: To prevent serious personal injury, always use both the front handle
and the rear handle to hold the hedge trimmer during operation.
WARNING: To prevent serious personal injury, keep hands away from blades.
Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when the blades
are moving. Make sure that the blades have totally stopped and the battery pack is
removed before clearing jammed material from blades. Do not grasp the exposed
cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or holding the unit.
WARNING: Clear the area to be cut before each use. Remove all objects, such
as cords, lights, wire, or string which can become entangled in the cutting blade and
create a risk of serious personal injury.

SIDE CUTTING
When trimming the sides of the hedge, begin at the bottom and cut upwards
(see Fig. 8). Trim the side of a hedge so that it will be slight narrower at the top.
This shape will expose more of the hedge, resulting in a more uniform growth.
SAWING FUNCTION
Although the blade gap allow wood to be
cut up to Ø 22mm, the tip of the blade is
designed to cut wood up to Ø 26mm
(see Fig. 9). If a radical cut is necessary,
cut a little at a time in several stages.
TIP PROTECTOR
The tip protector makes cutting near
the ground or along walls easier while
protecting the special cutters from damage.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any
other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. To ensure safety and
reliability, all repairs should be performed by a qualied service technician.
CLEANING
WARNING: To avoid serious personal injury, always remove the battery pack
from the product when cleaning or performing any maintenance.
Use a soft brush to remove debris from all air intakes and cutting blade.
To remove pitch and other sticky residue, spray the blades with resin solvent.
Run the motor briey so that the solvent is event distributed.
Wipe the surface with a dry cloth.
WARNING: Never use water for cleaning your trimmer. Avoid using solvents
when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various
types of commercial solvents. Use clean clothes to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

until the cutter blade and the guard
are slightly offset (Fig.10). This will
allow clearance for the le between
cutter teeth and guard teeth.
2. Remove the battery pack from you
hedge trimmer.
3. Clamp the blade assembly in a vise
and le the exposed cutting surface
of each blade tooth. Remove as
little material as possible. Be sure to

PERSONENSICHERHEIT
Seien Sie wachsam, geben Sie darauf acht, was Sie tun, und benutzen
Sie Ihren gesunden Menschenverstand, wenn Sie das Elektrowerkzeug
verwenden.
Tragen Sie angemessene Kleidung. Tragen Sie keine weite Kleidung oder
Schmuck. Halten Sie Ihr Haar, Ihre Kleidung und Handschuhe von den
beweglichen Teilen fern.
