QUICKGUIDE
3.2 Setting the Temperature
The EickWarm heating mat can be adjusted in
temperature ranges between 35 °C and 45 °C. It has a
timer that switches the heater off automatically after the
time has elapsed. This helps prevent skin sloughing that
can occur when a recumbent animal is left for a long time
on a heat mat without turning.
It is not recommended that the animal is placed directly
onto the Heat Pad. Select the temperature most suitable
for the animal’s requirements. It is important to check the
animal’s temperature at regular intervals to avoid
overheating.
While heat is required, the power supply should not be
interrupted. Press the MODE key until the red temparature
light is illuminated. Use the UP and DOWN keys to select
the required temperature which is displayed in the LED in
°C. Leave plugged all the time heat is required.
3.3 Setting the Time
Press the MODE key until the orange Time light is
illuminated. Use the UP and DOWN keys to select the
required time between 1 and 9 hours.
3.4 Operation
Press the START key and the mat will start heating. The
green heating light will be illuminated. When the selected
time has elapsed the green heating light will go off as
will the heating pad. The hours will still be displayed in
the LED. Pressing the START key while the green Heating
light is lit will stop the heating.
1. Important Instructions for Use
This pad is designed to supply a gentle heat to an animal
whilst upon it, with 12 V DC power for patient safety. As
this is only a gentle heat any warmth will dissipate as
soon as it is created, and you may in fact be excused from
thinking it is not operating correctly, especially if you
place your hand on top and can feel no immediate heat. If
you require to test the pad we suggest placing a heavy
object such as a large book on top for approx. 30 minutes
a slight heat will then start to build.
2. Assembly
Remove all packaging. Check the contents. There should
be a pad with control box attached, transformer and
2exes – one UK and one European. Join the two jack
plugs from the control box and the transformer. Attach
the appropriate ex to the transformer.
3. Tips for Use
3.1 General
Place the pad where it is to be used making sure it is kept
at. It is not recommended that the animal is placed
directly onto the Heat Pad. Select the temperature most
suitable for the animal’s requirements. It is important to
check the animal’s temperature at regular intervals to
avoid overheating. Use a light weight material to cover
the mat, this will allow the heat to come through.
Moreover the patient can be covered with a blanket to
avoid heat loss. If used direct on a oor that is
uninsulated such as concrete we suggest placing material
such as a blanket underneath to prevent heat loss
through the oor.

6. Servicing and Repair
In the event of damage or failure no attempt should be
made to tamper with or make any type of repair, instead
please return to EICKEMEYER® or contact the
EICKEMEYER® customer service for further information,
stating the nature of complaint.
7. Contact
Should you need any help or advice on initial use and
installation or have any queries regarding the use of the
pad please contact your local EICKEMEYER® customer
service via telephone or email.
4. Cleaning
Always unplug before cleaning. The pad is contained in a
water-repellent cover which can be wiped clean using
mild disinfectant. For heavy soiling a detergent can be
used. Never submerse the pad in water.
5. Health and Safety
The heating pad if used continuously should be checked
frequently, and when used with sick or infi rm animals.
Should the animal for which the pad is to be used, be
liable to chew it, we suggest some precautions be taken
to protect the pad. This may be done by cutting a piece of
thin plywood slightly bigger than the pad wrap some
heavy textile e. g. sacking or canvas fi xing on the
underside with the pad uppermost. Warmth will still come
through the heavy layer.
If the animal for which the pad is intended for a be a
persistent chewer we suggest that you may want to
deprive the animal use of the pad. If you do want to use
the pad and are concerned about chewing, metal guards
to place over the cable can be purchased from most D.I.Y.
outlets, as can a circuit breaker.
CAUTION – The following must be observed:
DO NOT launder or dry clean
DO NOT use wet
DO NOT use folded
DO NOT immerse in water
DO NOT exert tension or pressure on exible lead
DO NOT insert pins
DO NOT use on soft furnishings
Avoid pressing sharp creases or folds onto pad. Examine
pad regularly especially for signs of wear and damage. If
there are such signs, or any other signs of damage it
should be returned for service. In any case we suggest the
pad is serviced every two years – see „Servicing and
Repair“.
