Safe Servicing Practices
Avoid personal injury and/or property damage by observing important Safe Servicing Practices.
Following are some limited examples of safe practices:
1. DO NOT attempt a product repair if you have any doubts as to your ability to complete the repair in a safe a
satisfactory manner.
2. Always Use The Correct Replacement Parts as indicated in the parts documentation. Substitutions may defeat
compliance with Safety Standards Set For Home Appliances. Do not exceed maximum recommended wattage on
lamp replacements. Doing so could blow fuses and/or damage transformers.
3. Before servicing or moving an appliance:
• Remove power cord from the electrical outlet, trip circuit breaker to the OFF position, or remove fuse.
4. Never interfere with the proper operation of any safety device.
5. Use ONLY REPLACEMENT PARTS CATALOGED FOR THIS APPLIANCE. Substitutions may defeat compliance with
Safety Standards Set For Home Appliances.
6. GROUNDING: The standard color coding for safety ground wires is GREEN, or GREEN with YELLOW STRIPE
Ground leads are not to be used as current carrying conductors. It is EXTREMELY important that the service
technician reestablish all safety grounds prior to completion of service. Failure to do so will create a hazard.
7. Prior to returning the product to service, ensure that
• All electrical connections are correct and secure.
• All electrical leads are properly dressed and secured away from sharp edges, high-temperature components,
and moving parts.
• All non-insulated electrical terminals, connectors, heaters, etc. are adequately spaced away from all metal
parts and panels.
• All safety grounds (both internal and external) are correctly and securely connected.
• All panels are properly and securely reassembled.

WARNING
1. Disconnect the power before servicing. Trip circuit breaker to the OFF position, or remove
fuse.
2. Do not service when the range hood is working.
3. Make sure all electrical connections are correct and secure.
4. Make sure all electrical leads are properly dressed and secured away from sharp edges,
high-temperature components, and moving parts.
5. Make sure all non-insulated electrical terminals, connectors, etc. are adequately spaced
away from all metal parts and panels.
6. Make sure all safety grounds (both internal and external) are correctly and securely
connected.
7. Make sure all panels and control board are properly and securely installed.
After testing and/or repairing
1. Make sure electrical supply wires are connected correctly.
2. Make sure all safety grounds (both internal and external) are correctly and securely
connected.
3. Reconnect all leads removed from components during testing.
4. The internal connecting wires and motor wires should be bound tightly with bindings.
5. Make sure parts are re-installed correctly.
6. Make sure all the screws are tightened.
7. Make sure all electrical leads are properly dressed and secured away from sharp edges, high-
temperature components, and moving parts.
8. Make sure all non-insulated electrical terminals, connectors, etc. are adequately spaced
away from all metal parts and panels.
9. Make sure all panels and control board are properly and securely installed.

Grounding Instructions
This range hood is equipped with three wires for connection to the electrical supply. It must be connected to an
electrical supply that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with the National Electrical Code,
local codes and ordinances. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric
shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current.
Electrical Requirements
This range hood is equipped with three wires for connection to the electrical supply. DO NOT UNDER ANY
CIRCUMSTANCES CUT OR REMOVE THE GROUNDING WIRE. The electrical supply and range hood must
be connected to a separate 120 Volt AC, 60 Hz, 15 Amp. or more dedicated line. Install the range hood in
accordance with the National Electrical Code, local codes and ordinances.

Section 2: Working Principle
Ventilation Methods Hot Air Exhaust
1. Direct exhaust mode vertical:
For this venting method, hot air rising from the conventional range below is drawn in by the range hood
fan motor through the vent grille and grease filters up through the right and left sides of the blower
motor, then discharged vertically at rear center top of the range hood into the customer’s vent system.
2. Direct exhaust mode horizontal:
The air handing is the same as Vertical Venting except that final air discharge is directed horizontally
out from the top rear of range hood into the customer’s vent system.
3. Recirculation Kit:
The air handing is the same as Vertical Venting except that final air discharge is directed back into the
room via the recirculation kit vent system (FHWRKT30RS/FHWRKT36RS). In this case, the range hood
accessory charcoal Filter 316495183 must be provided to filter the air before it leaves the recirculation
kit vent system.

Description of components
LED lamps
Installed on the front and rear panels, used for lighting during cooking. The two front lamps or two rear
lamps or all lamps can be turned on or off.
Grease filters
Used to filter the grease from the range cook top.
Blower motor
The blower motor is a three-speed (high, medium and low) AC single-phase asynchronous motor
requiring a capacitor. The blower motor removes hot air from around the oven as it rises from the
conventional range over which it is installed. This air is then expelled either vertically or horizontally
through the customer supplied duct system, or discharged back into the kitchen.
Lamp and Fan switches
The lamp and fan switch assemblies each contain a switch (with cover) and the wires connecting with
it. There are two switch assemblies, one used to control lamps and the other used to control the speed
of the motor blower.

There are four positions for the lamp switch, OFF, ON, FRONT and REAR. When it is at OFF, all
lamps go out; when it is at ON, all lamps are on; when it is at FRONT only the lamps on the front are
on; when it is at REAR only the lamps at the rear are on.
There are four positions for the fan switch, OFF, HI, MED and LO. When it is at OFF, the motor blower
doesn’t run. When it is at HI, the motor blower speed is at its maximum; when it is at MED, the motor
blower speed is at its medium. When it is at LO, the motor blower speed is at its minimum.

Code Check methods for parts
A Check PCB control board
1. Disconnect the power and remove the PCB control board.
2. Check for any discoloration or broken parts, if any, replace the PCB control board.
3. Reconnect all leads removed during testing
4. Reconnect the power supply.
5. Run range hood and check all the functions.
B Check start capacitor
1. Disconnect the power, open the electrical cover control, disconnect and remove the motor
start capacitor.
2. Check with a high ohm scale if the motor start capacitor is short or open between the
terminals with digital multimeter. If the capacitor is normal, the meter will show continuity for
a short time and then should indicate an open circuit once the capacitor is charged. If the
above is not the case, replace the capacitor. Also replace the motor start capacitor if the
wires are cracked or the capacitor looks deformed.
3. Reconnect all leads removed during testing
4. Reconnect the power supply.
5. Run range hood and check all the functions.
C Check wires & harnesses to PCB control board
1. Disconnect the power, open the electrical cover control.
2. Check if the wires are discolored, cracked, broken, short circuit.
3. Check wires are seated in connector housing and fit correctly with mating connector.
4. Use the digital multimeter to test the resistance of the connector pins. Connect a lead of the
meter to each end of one wire. If the meter does not indicate zero resistance replace the
wire / harness part.
5. Reconnect all leads removed during testing
6. Reconnect the power supply.
7. Run range hood and check all the functions.

D Check blower fan motor
1. If the motor doesn’t turn, turn the fan switch to HI speed and measure the voltage between the
Pin 3 and Pin 4 (black and white wires) of the 5 pin connector on the PCB board control. If
120V appear and the start capacitor and fan switch are good then replace the blower fan
motor. If the voltage is not 120V, disconnect all power and measure the motor circuit with a
multimeter.
2. The resistances between the motor terminals are as follows:
WH (4) AND BLA (3) = 14.5Ω±10%
RED(6) AND ORA(1)= 8.0Ω±10%
BLA(3) AND BLU(2)=8.0Ω±10%
BLU(2) AND ORA(1)=4.0Ω±10%
3. If the the motor circuit is open or shorted replace blower fan motor.
4. Reconnect all leads removed from components during testing.
5. Connect with power supply, start the range hood and check all functions.

1. Disconnect the power supply.
2. Remove the wires from the switch.
3. Rotate the switch to each position and check resistance across the terminals with a
multimeter. If the contacts do not measure open or closed per the below figure then
replace the switch.
4. Reconnect all leads removed during testing
5. Reconnect the power supply.
6. Run range hood and check all the functions.

To prevent an electrical shock, take the following precautions:
1. Disconnect the power. Trip circuit breaker to the OFF position, or remove fuse.
2. Do not service when the range hood is working.
3. Make sure all electrical connections are correct and secure.
4. Make sure all electrical leads are properly dressed and secured away from sharp edges,
high-temperature components, and moving parts.
5. Make sure all non-insulated electrical terminals, connectors, etc. are adequately spaced
away from all metal parts and panels.
6. Make sure all safety grounds (both internal and external) are correctly and securely
connected.
7. Make sure all panels and control board are properly and securely installed.
WARNING
Vent Grill Cover and Filter Assembly Removal
1. Press the corners on the vent grill
cover at the same time to open.
2. Remove the vent grill cover.
3. Hold the small handles at both sides of
the filter assembly, press the filter assembly
backward towards the rear panel and then
remove the filter assembly. Repeat for the
second filter assembly.

1. Remove screws at the both sides of
the front panel.
2. Push the front panel backward towards the
rear panel until the front panel locking tabs
are free from the range hood housing then
pull panel down.

NOTE
1. Cut off power to the hood unit.
2. The vent grill cover and filter assembly needs to
be removed before the front panel can be
removed
1． After reinstalling the front panel (before tightening
screws) check that no wires are pinched between
the front panel and range hood housing.
NOTE

Fan or Light Switch Assembly Removal
1. Push in on the knob to release then pull
the knob off the switch.
2. Remove two screws that attach the knob
assembly to the switch assembly.
3. If replacing the switch assembly go to step 4.To
replace the knob assembly unscrew and
remove the retaining cap behind the knob cover.
4. Remove the cover from the switch.

NOTE
1. Cut off power to the hood unit.
2. The vent grill cover, filter assembly and front
panel needs to be removed before the switch
assembly can disassembled

5. Remove the screws from the knob assembly
base to the switch assembly. Replace knob
assembly and reassemble. If replacing the switch
assembly go to step 6.
6. Remove the wire terminals from the switch. Replace
the switch assembly. Refer to the wiring diagram in
Chapter 3 for either the light switch or fan switch when
reconnecting wire terminals. Reassemble and install
the switch and knob assembly.
NOTE
1. Check wire terminal connections are secure and
correct before reassembly.
2. After the unit has been completely reassembled
run the hood and check all functions.

2. The vent grill cover and filter assembly needs to
be removed before the control box top cover
can be removed
1． After reinstalling the top cover (before tightening
screws) check that all wires are inside control box
top cover. No wires should be pinched between
the top cover and range hood housing.
NOTE

1． Disconnect the capacitor connector.
2． Unscrew the capacitor mounting screw and
remove the motor start capacitor.

1. Cut off power to the hood unit.
2. The vent grill cover, filter assembly and control
box top cover needs to be removed before
the motor start capacitor can be removed
3. Wear a anti static wrist strap.
NOTE
1. After reinstalling the new capacitor check wire
terminal connections are secure and correct
before reassembly.
2. After reinstalling the control box top cover (before
tightening screws) check that all wires are inside
control box top cover. No wires should be
pinched between the top cover and range hood
housing.
3. After the unit has been completely reassembled
run the hood and check all functions.
