plug-in Pix lator without any chang s or configuration

G tting Start d
To b gin your installation pl as follow th s st ps.
1. Unpack th unit from th box. Insp ct th
Pix lator for any damag that might hav
occurr d in shipping, and v rify that it looks to b
in good condition b for plugging it in to pow r.
2. Th Pix lator occupi s a singl unit (1U) in a 19
inch rack. You may attach it to th rack ith r at
this tim or lat r aft r configuring it, if d sir d.
3. Attach a pow r cord with mains voltag to th
IEC input on th back.
4. Using an Eth rn t Cat5, Cat5E or Cat6 cabl ,
conn ct th Pix lator to an Eth rn t N twork.
Wh n th unit turns on, you will b abl to s its
initial IP addr ss on th LCD pan l which looks
lik w.x.y.z, wh r ach l tt r is a numb r
b tw n 0 and 255. Not that IP addr ss down for
lat r us .
5. Th LCD displays th IP addr ss of th unit at all
tim s ( xc pt wh n it's booting), but if not possibl
to ch ck th LCD, NMU App (availabl for Windows
& Mac) can b us d to d t ct th Pix lator on your
n twork. NMU can b download d h r :

Profil s
Profil s ar ss ntial to th op rational philosophy of th
Pix lator. With a profil s l ct d, th d vic knows how to
utiliz th many r sourc s it can mak us of to p rform
lighting control tasks.
Each Profil contains configuration information for som or
all of th following:
Pix l Link (PLink)
Th s ar th physical PIXEL Link ports (1-24)
Eth rn t Str ams
Th s ar th DMX ov r Eth rn t univ rs s. (Art-N t, ESP,
KiNET, ACN)
Routing Diagram
Th routing diagram is th visual r pr s ntation of
th Profil its lf and it t lls th Pix lator how fram s ar
mov d or rout d insid th routing ngin , as w ll as what
to do with multipl sourc s of data that n d to b m rg d,
wh n that option is ngag s. Oth r sp cial op rations can
b part of a diagram as w ll, such as Chann l Shift r, Output
Switch, tc.
Factory Profil s
Th Pix lator has a s t of factory profil s, to start you off.
You'r lik ly to s 2 or mor of th following:
•Artn t24->Pix l24: This profil will tak 24 Art-N t
univ rs s and conv rt th m to 24 Pix l-Link signal on
ports 1 to 24.
•Artn t48->Pix l24: This profil will tak 48 Art-N t
univ rs s and conv rt th m to 24 Pix l-Link signal on
ports 1 to 24. (Each Port will b mapp d to 2 Art-N t
Univ rs s cons cutiv ly)
Th s profil s ar just an xampl of what can b don with
th Pix lator, you can modify th factory profil s to
accommodat your particular n d, or cr at your own
profil from scratch.

Changing from on profil to anoth r can b don in a
w b brows r window, via RS232 command, or with th
touch of a f w buttons on th front pan l (LCD m nu).
LCD M nu
Th LCD M nu is navigat d through th four pan l
buttons on th front of th unit.
Th M nu button acts as th “Back” button, which
tak s you to th pr vious M nu/scr n.
Th Ent r button go s into th s l ct d option on th
scr n, and activating th option.
Th Top & Bottom button ar us d to navigat /scroll
through th options on any scr n. Th curr ntly s l ct d
option is highlight d with a whit background on th
scr n.

using up & down k ys. Scrolling indicator is visibl wh n th
list allows scrolling.

S tup scr n allows changing th IP addr ss of th unit via
“Chang IP” or doing Factory R s t.
Chang IP
This scr n furth r giv s two options DHCP or Static IP.
Wh n Static IP is s l ct d, th scr n allows you to chang
th IP addr ss using th top and bottom button to scroll th
digits and th m nu & nt r buttons to s l ct th s gm nt.
Onc you ar on th last s gm nt of th IP addr ss, pr ssing
th Ent r button, will activat th IP addr ss. It will tak a
f w s conds for th chang to go through, pl as wait 30
s conds, b for att mpting to try again.
Change IP Address

Factory R s t
Activating Factory R s t, l ads to a simpl prompt
confirming your action. Onc confirm d, th Factory R s t
will tak a f w s conds to run. It will nd up d l ting all your
us r cr at d profil s, as w ll as any sav d s ttings. Pl as
us this only wh n n d d, or as dir ct d by ENTTEC
support t am.

fit your particular n ds.
Clicking on th Profil nam will launch th profil in th
profil - ditor window.

You can updat th firmwar on th Pix lator, via th w b
brows r. G t th n w firmwar fil s (th y ar availabl on
w bsit : www. ntt c.com/Pix lator). Download th m to
your d sktop and th n follow instructions in th
Pix lator's w b brows r pag , und r th S ttings s ction.
Not : Whil th firmwar is b ing updat d, pl as do not
pow r off th unit, pl as wait until th w b-pag is
proc ssing. (up-to 5 minut s).If th w b-pag do s not
r fr sh automatically, pl as op n th hom pag on th
brows r manually, and v rify that th updat has
succ d d.
NMU
NMU (Nod Manag m nt Utility) is a fr Windows and
Mac application that is us d to manag compatibl
ENTTEC DMX ov r Eth rn t nod s. NMU will not dir ctly
allow you to configur th Pix lator its lf, but it can h lp
you find your unit's IP addr ss and th n op n a brows r
window to acc ss Pix lator. Follow th s st ps:
1. Download NMU from www. ntt c.com/nmu
2. Ensur that your Pix lator is hook d up physically by
Eth rn t cabl to th sam physical n twork as th
comput r on which you will run th NMU.
3. Pr ss th Discov ry button.
4. Onc found, s l ct Pix lator and us th IP addr ss
to acc ss th w b int rfac via your w b brows r.
