Important Instructions
Safety Instructions
Use only the AC adapter supplied with the product and do not use the adapter with any other
equipment. Use of any other adapter with this product or the use of the supplied AC adapter with
other equipment may result in fire or electric shock.
Use only the type of power source indicated on the AC adapter's label, and always supply power
directly from a standard domestic electricaloutlet with the AC power cord that meets the relevant
local safety standards.
Never disassemble, modify, or attempt to repair the AC adapter, plug, printer unit or options by
yourself, except as specifically explained in the product's guides.
Unplug the product and the AC adapter, and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under
the following conditions:
The AC adapter or plug is damaged; liquid has entered the product or the AC adapter; the product
or the AC adapter has been dropped or the casing damaged; the product or the AC adapter does
not operate normally or exhibits a distinct change in performance. Do not adjust controls that are
not covered by the operating instructions.
Place the product near a wall outlet where the plug can be easily unplugged.
Do not leave the printer in direct sunlight, near heaters, inside cars or other locations that are
subject to high temperatures. The printer may be deformed or ink may leak.
Take care not to spill liquid on the product and not to handle the product with wet hands.
Keep this product at least 22 cm away from cardiac pacemakers. Radio waves from this product
may adversely affect the operation of cardiac pacemakers.
If the LCD screen is damaged, contact your dealer. If the liquid crystal solution gets on your hands,
wash them thoroughly with soap and water. If the liquid crystal solution gets into your eyes, flush
them immediately with water. If discomfort or vision problems remain after a thorough flushing,
see a doctor immediately.
Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children.

Be careful when you handle used ink cartridges, as there may be some ink around the ink supply
port.
If ink gets on your skin, wash the area thoroughly with soap and water.
If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water.
If discomfort or vision problems continue after a thorough flushing, see a doctor immediately.
If ink gets into your mouth, see a doctor right away.
Instructions for the AC Adapter
❏The AC adapter cord should be placed to avoid abrasions, cuts, fraying, crimping, and kinking. Do not place
objects on top of the cord and do not allow the AC adapter or the cord to be stepped on or run over. Be particularly
careful to keep the cord straight at the end.
❏If you are not going to use the product for a long period, be sure to unplug the AC adapter from the electrical
outlet.
Safety Instructions for the Maintenance Box
❏Do not disassemble the maintenance box; otherwise ink may get into your eyes or on your skin.
❏Keep the maintenance box out of the reach of children.
Safety Instructions for the Optional Battery
❏Use an Epson Li-ion battery model C12C932941 or C12C932951 for this printer according to the directions in the
user documentation. Do not use the battery with non-rechargeable batteries (primary cell batteries) or with
rechargeable batteries (secondary cell batteries) of different capacities or types. Use of batteries not designed for
this printer can cause excessive discharging during use, and an excessive current to flow during charging. As a
result, the battery could become hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏Do not place the battery in a microwave oven or a high-pressure container. Otherwise, the battery could become
hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏Do not drop or throw the battery or subject it to strong shocks. Otherwise, the battery could leak or the protection
circuit in the battery could be damaged. As a result, the battery could become hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch
fire.
❏Do not use or leave the battery in a hot location (more than 50˚C), such as near a fire or a heater. Otherwise, the
plastic separator could melt and the individual cells could short-circuit. As a result, the battery could become hot,
emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏Do not leave the battery in a vehicle. Otherwise, the battery could overheat.
❏Do not expose the battery to high humidity.
❏Do not handle the battery with wet hands or use it in locations near water. If the battery gets wet or is immersed in
water, an excessive current will flow during charging. As a result, the battery could become hot, emit smoke,
rupture, or catch fire.

❏Do not incinerate or heat the battery. Otherwise, the battery could become hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch
fire.
❏Do not allow the battery to come into contact with metals objects, such as coins and keys. Do not carry or store the
battery with metal objects. Otherwise, the battery could short-circuit. As a result, the battery could become hot,
emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏Do not touch battery terminals.
❏If overheating, discoloration, or deformation occur, remove the battery from the printer and do not use it.
❏Do not connect the battery to an electrical outlet or to an automobile cigarette lighter receptacle. High voltage to
the battery will cause an excessive current to flow. As a result, the battery could become hot, emit smoke, rupture,
or catch fire.
❏Do not short-circuit the battery.
❏Do not remove the outside case of the battery to protect against short circuits.
❏Do not puncture, strike, or step on the battery. If the battery is broken or deformed, it could short-circuit. As a
result, the battery could become hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏Do not insert objects into any openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-circuit components.
❏Do not solder any item directly to the battery. Otherwise, the insulator could melt, or the gas vent or the safety
function could be damaged. As a result, the battery could become hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏If a battery is swallowed, seek medical treatment immediately.
❏Do not disassemble or modify the battery. To prevent accidents, the battery is equipped with a safety function and
protection circuit. If the safety function or protection circuit is damaged, the battery could become hot, emit
smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏Do not use the battery if it is leaking or damaged in any way. Otherwise, the battery could become hot, emit smoke,
rupture, or catch fire.
❏If the liquid leaks from the battery (or the battery gives out bad smell), let the battery leave from flammable objects
immediately. Unless do that, the electrolyte leaked from battery will catch fire and it will cause the smoke, flame or
rupture of it.
❏If battery acid gets in your eyes, immediately rinse your eyes thoroughly with fresh water without rubbing them.
And then, see a doctor immediately. Otherwise, permanent eye damage could result.
❏If battery acid gets on your skin, immediately rinse the affected area thoroughly with water. Andthen, see a doctor
immediately.
❏Use only AC adapter model A461H or A462E to charge the battery and operate the printer.
❏Do not charge or use the battery with devices other than the specified product. Otherwise, the performance and
life of the battery could decrease. In addition, the battery or device could be damaged and cause an abnormal
current to flow. As a result, the battery could become hot, emit smoke, rupture, catch fire, or explode.
❏Use the specified charger and observe the charging requirements. Otherwise, the battery could become hot, emit
smoke, rupture, or catch fire.

❏Do not charge the battery near an open flame or in very hot locations. If the protection circuit in the battery is
activated, you will not be able to charge the battery. If the protection circuit is damaged, the battery could become
hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏If the battery is not fully charged within the specified time, stop charging. Otherwise, the battery could become
hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.
❏The battery has polarity. Do not forcefully connect the battery to the charger or product even if the battery cannot
be connected easily. Be sure to confirm the polarity of the battery when connecting it. Do not reverse the polarity
of the battery connections (terminals). If the battery is connected incorrectly during charging, the battery will be
reverse-charged and an abnormal chemical reaction could occur in the battery. As a result, the battery could
become hot, emit smoke, rupture, or catch fire.

Part Names and Functions
A
Edge guide Feeds the paper straight into the printer. Slide to the edge of the paper.

Rear paper feed Loads paper.

Feeder guard Prevents foreign substance from entering the printer. This cover should usually be
closed.

Rear paper feed cover Prevents foreign substances from entering the printer. When opened, it supports
loaded paper.
E
Control panel Displays the status of the printer and allows you to make various printer settings.
F
Handle Use this to carry the printer.
G
Power light Turns on when the power is on.
Flashes when the printer is operating or an error occurs.

Battery charging light Turns on when the battery is charging, and turns off when the battery is charged.
Flashes when the printer is running on the battery and the battery is running low.
Flashes fast when the printer cannot charge the battery because the temperature
istoo low(less than 3˚C) ortoo high (higher than 50 ˚C). Charge the batterywithin a
range of 3 to 50˚C (37.4 to 122˚F).

SD card slot Insert a memory card.

Printer cover Open when replacing the ink cartridge or removing jammed paper inside the
printer. Prevents foreign substance from entering the printer.

Ink cartridge holder Install the ink cartridge. Ink is ejected from the print head nozzles underneath.

Output tray Holds the ejected paper.

External interface USB port Connects an external storage device or a PictBridge capable device.

Removing the Handle
This printer can be used without the handle. To remove the handle, move the handle forward, grasp it with both hands,
and then spread it outwards.
After removing the handle, be sure to attach the handle hole caps th at came with yo ur printer; otherwise dust or foreign
substances may enter the printer.

Keep the handle hole caps out of the reach of children.
Note:
When you reattach the handle, check the shapes of the handle and handle holes. You cannot attach the handle in the wrong
direction.

You can change the angle of the control panel.

Power Turns the printer on or off.

+/- Selects the number of pages to print.

Stop Stops the current operation.

Home Displays the home screen.

Guide to the LCD Screen
Menus and messages are displayed on the LCD screen. Select a menu or setting by pressing the udlrbuttons.
To learn the meaning of the icons, select Help from the home screen, and then select Icon List.
A
Icons that show the battery status are displayed. You can learn the meaning of the icons in the Help menu. Enter Help
from the home screen using the l or rbutton,andthenpresstheOK button.SelectIcon List using the uor dbutton, and
then press the OK button.

When an ! icon is displayed, the ink cartridge is running low. When a X mark is displayed, the ink cartridge is expended.
C
Icons that show the network status are displayed. You can learn the meaning of the icons in the Help menu.
D
Function icons and names are displayed as mode icons.
E
When land rare displayed, you can scroll right or left.
F
Available buttons are displayed. In this example, you can proceed to the selected menu by pressing the OK button.

The name of the screen displayed.

View and Print Photos You can print photos on the memory card by selecting them on the LCD screen.
Photo Layout Sheet You can print your photos in various layouts, such as printing multiple photos on a
sheet of photo paper.

Menu Settings and Explanations
Browse Browse by Date Displays the photos on the memory card sorted by date. Select a date
to display all photos saved on that date.
Cancel Browse Cancels sorting photos and displays all the photos.
Select Photos Select All Photos Select all the photos on the memory card and set the number of prints.
Cancel Photo Selection Returns the number of copies of all photos to 0 (zero).
Display Options 1-up Displays one photo on a screen. Information on settings, such as
number of copies, is also displayed.
1-up without Information Displays one photo on a screen. Information on settings, such as
number of copies, is not displayed.
9-up Displays nine photos on a screen.
Print Settings Paper Size Select the paper size you loaded.
Paper Type Select the paper type you loaded.
Borderless Prints without margins around the edges. The image is enlarged a little
to remove borders from the edges of the paper.
Quality Select the print quality. Selecting Best provides higher quality print‐
ing, but the printing speed may be slower.
Expansion With borderless printing, the image is enlarged a little to remove
borders from the edges of the paper. Select how much to enlarge the
image.
Date Select a date format to print photos with a date. The date is not printed
for some layouts or if date information is not included in the photo
data.
Fit Frame If the aspect ratio of the image data and the paper size is different, the
image is automatically enlarged or reduced so that the short sides
match the short sides of the paper. The long side of the image is
cropped if it extends beyond the long side of the paper. This feature
may not work for panorama photos.
On Crops the top and bottom or left and
right of the image.
Off Creates margins on the left and right or
top and bottom of the image.

Menu Settings and Explanations
Photo Adjustments Enhance Select one of the image adjustment options.
PhotoEnhance: Produces sharper images and more vivid colors by
automatically adjusting the contrast, saturation, and brightness of the
original image data.
P.I.M.: Adjusts the image based on the printing information provided
by a digital camera compatible with PRINT Image Matching.
Scene Detection Available when selecting PhotoEnhance as the Enhance setting. Im‐
proves the image quality for photos of people, landscapes, and night
scenes.
Fix Red-Eye Fixes red-eye in photos. Corrections are not applied to the original file,
only to the printouts. Depending on the type of photo, parts of the
image other than the eyes may be corrected.
Brightness Adjusts the brightness of the image.
Sharpness Enhances or defocuses the outline of the image.
Filter Prints in sepia or monochrome.
Crop/Zoom Enlarges a part of the photo to be printed.
Setup Mode
Menu Settings and Explanations
Ink Level Displays the approximate level of the ink cartridge.
When an ! icon is displayed, the ink cartridge is running low. When a X mark is displayed, the ink
cartridge is expended.
Battery Displays the status, the approximate level, and warnings of the optional battery.
Maintenance box Displays the approximate service life of the maintenance box. When an ! icon is displayed, the
maintenance box is nearly full. When a X icon is displayed, the maintenance box is full.
Maintenance Nozzle Check Prints a pattern to check if the print head nozzles are clogged.
Head Cleaning Cleans clogged nozzles in the print head.
Print Head Alignment Adjusts the print head to improve print quality.
Ink Cartridge Replacement Use this feature to replace the ink cartridge before the ink is expended.
Paper Guide Cleaning Select this feature if there are ink stains on the internal rollers. The
printer feeds paper to clean the internal rollers.

Menu Settings and Explanations
Printer Setup Paper Source Setting Paper Setup Select the paper size and paper type
you loaded.
Paper Setting Alert Warns you when the paper settings do
not match the paper you loaded. The
paper settings screen is not displayed
when Paper Configuration is disabled.
Paper Configuration Automatically displays the paper
settings screen when paper is loaded.
AirPrint is not available when disabled.
Sound Turns on or off the beeps that sound when operating the buttons or
when an error occurs, and changes the volume.
Screen Saver By selecting Memory Card Data, photos are displayed sequentially
when no operations are performed for about three minutes.
Power Off Timer Turns the printer off automatically when a specified time has passed
and no operations have been performed. You can adjust the time
before power management is applied.
Sleep Timer Select the time period before the printer enters sleep mode (energy
saving mode) when no operations are performed. The LCD screen
turns black when the set time passes.

Network Settings Network Status Displays the network information. To check more information, press
the lor rbutton to select the menu you want to check.
Wi-Fi Setup Wi-Fi Setup Wizard Select an SSID, enter a password, and
then connect the printer to a wireless
(Wi-Fi) network.
Push Button Setup (WPS) Connect the printer to a wireless
network by using the WPS button on
your wireless router.
PIN Code Setup (WPS) In the wireless router utility, enter the
PIN code displayed on the printer's
screen and connect the printer to a
wireless (Wi-Fi) network.
Wi-Fi Auto Connect Easily connect the printer to a wireless
(Wi-Fi) network using a computer
connected to the wireless router. By
simply following the on-screen
instructions on the computer, you can
make the network settings without
entering an SSID or security key. See
the User's Guide (digital manual) for
more details.
Disable Wi-Fi Disables the connection by turning the
Wi-Fi off without deleting the network
information. To enable the
connection, set up the wireless (Wi-Fi)
network again.
Wi-Fi Direct Setup Connects the printer to a wireless
(Wi-Fi) network without a wireless
router.
Manual Network Setup Changes the network settings, such as the device name or TCP/IP.
Connection Check Checks the status of the network connection and prints the network
connection check report. If there are any problems with the connec‐
tion, see the check report to solve the problem. See the User's Guide
(digital manual) for more details.
Epson Connect
Services
You can suspend or resume the Epson Connect or Google Could Print service, or cancel using the
services (restore the default settings). See the following for details.

Google Cloud Print
Services
External Device Setup Change the print settings to print directly from an external device such as a digital camera or mobile
phone.
File Sharing Setup Select the connection method between the printer and a computer that will have write access to the
memory card inserted in the printer. Read and write access is given to the computer with the priority
connection. Only read access is given to other computers.
Restore Default
Settings
Resets the selected settings to their defaults.

Select this mode to access the menus for network setup or for checking the network settings as described below. You
can also access the network menus from the Setup mode.
❏When the printer is not connected to a network
Select an icon of your desired connection method, and press the OK button on the next screen to display the
network setup menus. To setup the printer for use on a network using the menus, see the User’s Guide.
❏When the printer is connected to a network
Select See Connection Details to display the setting information such as the printer's IP address. Select Details to
display the menus for check the status.
