About this Manual
Aim of the Manual
The aim of this manual is to provide development engineers with the necessary information to
develop and design a system that registers and uses contents created using PHP (PHP: Hypertext
Preprocessor) in the TM-i series.
The TM-i series in this manual is a generic term for the following printers.

Chapter 1 Overview
1
Overview
TM-i series can only register static contents (such as HTML files, CSS files, JavaScript or screen data). However,
by inserting a microSD card into a TM-i and enabling PHP, you can register contents created using PHP.
Use of contents created with PHP allows you to perform the following:
❏Create dynamic Web pages
❏Manage user data using file and database operations
UseamicroSDcardwithwearlevelingfunctionality.
DonotuseyourownapplicationtowritetothemicroSDcard.
DonotturnoffthepowerwhenwritingtothemicroSDcardvia[WebContentUpdate]in
EPSONTMNetWebConfig.
PHPcannotbeusedif[Spooler]‐[WebServiceSettings]inEPSONTMNetWebConfigʹsis
enabled.BesuretosetʺDisableʺforthisitem(intheinitialsettings).

PHP Operations
PHP operates on a Web Server as shown below.
1A request is sent to the HTTP Server of the TM-i.
Example: http://192.168.192.168/index.php
2The PHP module in the HTTP Server interprets the script language in the file,
dynamically generates HTML, and performs data processing.
3A response is returned to the device (client). Print data is included in the response.
4Print data is sent from the device to the TM-i.
5The TM-i prints the print data.

PHP Operating Specifications
PHP operating specifications are defined by Apache and PHP setting files.
Setting information of the TM-i is saved on a ROM and cannot be changed.
Restrictions
The TM-i is subject to some restrictions for security reasons.
Use the following procedure to check details regarding PHP restrictions.
1Save the following PHP script with a file name such as "phpinfo.php".

2Compress the file you created together with the other web content files into a
single ZIP folder.
3Register the file(s) in the TM-i series device.
For details about how to compress and register web content files, refer to Chapter 2 "Setup" in the
manual for the TM-i device you are using.
4You can display the restrictions screen by viewing the URL where you placed the
script file.
Example: If you placed the file phpinfo.php in the root folder for the web content, the URL is as shown
below.
http://<TM-i_IP_address>/webapp/phpinfo.php
The main restrictions are as shown below.
