1 Safety instructions and warnings
To ensure safe operation ofthe device, it is necessary toread the following
safety instructions and warnings carefully and comply with them.
The safetyinstructions summarized here are repeatedin the corresponding
chapters, where necessary.
1.1 General
1.1.1 Definitions
Operator
Person who provides thedevices described here to users ona commercial
basis.The operator is responsible for the correct operationof the device as
well ascompliance with the maintenance intervals.
User
A person who uses the deviceat a commercial location.
Personnel
People who are responsiblefor the operation, cleaningand general mainte-
nance work and whoinstruct the users in the operationof thedevices.
Electrician
A person with suitable professional training,knowledge, experience and
knowledgeof the applicable regulations which enable them to identify and
avoid thedangers whichcan arise fromworking with electricity.
Authorized, trained and qualified personnel
Qualifiedstaff from an external company who have been trained andauthor-
ized by the manufacturer to undertakeassembly and maintenance work on
specific equipment.

1.2 Intended use
This device serves thepurpose of cosmetic tanning for oneadult person
with skin suitable for tanning. Additional information is available on
pages 10 and 28.
This deviceis intended only for commercialuse and not for private use.
Somepeople are not permitted to use the device, see page 8.
The device may notbe used by peoplewith reduced physical,sensory or
mentalcapabilities or who haveinsufficient experience and/or knowledge
without supervision.A person responsiblefor their safety must ensure, either
by supervision or instruction,that the device is used correctly andsafely. If
there is anydoubt, use of thedevice by such categoriesof persons is to be
forbidden!
The device may only be operated with the specified or equivalent lamps.The
tanning times given in this instruction manual are valid only for the specified
lamp set.
Any other use shallbe considered improper. The manufacturer cannot be
held liable for damage or injuries resulting from this. The operator bears the
sole risk for this.
Proper use also includescompliance with the manufacturer’s instructions and
its operating and maintenance conditions. The device mayonlybe operated,
maintained andrepaired by trained professionals familiar withthis device and
who have beeninformed of the dangers involved.
1.3 Foreseeable misuse
The following uses ofthe device are explicitly prohibited:
The device may not be used by several people atthe same time
Peoplewith a body weightof more than 135 kg may not usethe device
Exceeding the specified tanning times may result in burns and long-term
skindamage.
When the device is in use no other people may remainin the cabin, in
particular nochildren.
While usingthe device no pets may bepresent in the cabin.
People under 18 years ofage may not use the device.

1.4.1 Prohibited usage

Danger of skinand eye injuries or skin diseases!

Peopleunder 18 years of age
Peoplewho cannot tan
Peoplewho cannot tanin the sun whithout risking asunburn
Peoplewho easily sunburn whenin the sun
Peoplewith acute sunburn
Peoplewho repeatedly suffered from serious sunburn duringchildhood
Peoplewith naturally red hair
Peoplewith atypically discolouredareas of skin
People who haveor have had skin cancer
People who suffer from anincreased risk of skin cancer (e.g. cases of
skin cancer inthe family)
People amongwhose closest relatives amelanoma has occurred
People who are being medically treated for photosensitivity
People taking photosensitivity causing medicine
Peoplewith freckles and people who tend to develop freckles
Peoplewith more than 16 moles on their body (2 mm diameter or larger)
People with atypical moles(atypical moles are, for example, asymmet-
rical moles with a diameter greater than5 mm, with varying pigmentation
and irregular edges)
Pregnant women
–Seek medical advice without fail if in doubt!

1.4.2 Important notes
All other people must observe the following instructions:
Danger of skinand eye injuries or skin diseases!
The skincan become sunburnt when exposedto excessive radiation.
Excessive,frequently repeatedUV radiation exposure from natural sun-
lightor UV devices canresult in premature ageing of the skin and an in-
creased risk ofskin tumours.
Particular caution isadvisable for individuals who are especially sensitive
to UVradiation, and when certainmedicaments or cosmetics are used.
Seek medicaladvice without fail if in doubt!
UV devices should notbe used withoutmedical advice ifunexpected
manifestations such asitching occur within 48 hours of firstusing the
sunbed.
Increasing tanning requires increased exposure time(= radiation time) or
after a certain degree of tanninghas been achieved, increased tanning is
notpossible. However, the radiation time maynot be extended asdesired
within the scope of thepermissible radiation doses! Therefore, only a cer-
tain level of final tanning, which depends on the skin type,can be
achieved withoutendangering your health.
The tanningdevice may never be usedwhen a filter panel is missingor
damaged, or the timer is defective!
Remove cosmeticsbefore tanning and donot use sun screen products.
Behaviour before, during and after a sunbath:
During thetanning session no other peoplemay remain in the cabin,in
particular nochildren.
Remove alljewellery (includingpiercings) before the tanning session.
Do notuse any products intended to accelerate tanning.
UV light can causeirreversible skin or eyedamage. Theunprotected eye
can become inflamed on the surface, andin certain cases the retina can
be damaged byexcessive radiation.Cataractscan form after numerous
repeated tanning sessions. Use the UV-impermeable protective gog-
gles provided (order no. 84592-..). Contactlenses and sun glasses are
no substitutes for protectiveglasses.
Protect sensitive skinareas such as scars, tattoos andgenitals before
tanning.
Observe the recommended tanningtimes.
During atanning session the quantity of radiationwhichresults in the skin
reddening (MED,minimumerythema dose) may not beexceeded. If red-
dened skin occurs around 16-24 hours after the tanningsession youmay
not use the tanning device again for one week. After one week you can
start againfrom the beginning with the first tanningsession in accordance
with thetanning table.
The time between thefirst two sessions on the sunbedmust be atleast
48 hours! Donot take an additionalsunbath on the same day.
See a doctor if stubborn swelling, sores or pigmented moles form on the
skin.

DANGER!
Burns and long-term damage!
People with skin type I may not use the tanning device.
The following applies to people with skintypes II, III and IV:
–Observe the tanningtimes.
– Observe the safety instructions.
NOTICE:
The tanningtimes are only valid for thelamp set and filter
panels specified on the lamp set sticker.
The tanning sessions should beat least 48 hours apart.
The maximum dosageof 25 kJ/m² per year should notbe
exceeded.
The maximum dosage is weighted according to NMSC.1

1.5.1 Operator's obligations
As the operator you are responsiblefor providing clear operating,cleaning
and maintenance instructions andensuring the intendeduse and the proper
operation ofthe device by means of training and instruction for the personnel.
Your operating instructions mustenable the safe use andsafe operation of
the device andtake into account the characteristics and expertise ofyour
company and also the national work safety and environmental protection
regulations.
1.5.2 Personnel training
As the operator you are obliged to trainyour personnel and instruct themin
theestablished legaland accident prevention regulations.Ensure thatyour
personnel have understood andobserve these operatinginstructions.This
applies in particular to the
information in 'Intendeduse' and 'Foreseeable misuse'
safety instructions in the 'Operation' chapter

–Please makethe instructionsand additional information from the manu-
facturer available to the personnel at their workplace.
– Regularly check your personnel's safety consciousness and awareness
ofthe risks, taking into account your operating instructions.
–Please ensure thatthe cleaning intervals are compliedwith, in particular
cleaning after every tanning session.
–Please ensure thatyour personnel provide your customers with appropri-
ate advice, inparticular regarding tanningtimes, possible risks and the
operation ofthe device.
–Peopleunder 18 may notuse the device. Please instruct your personnel
tocheck the customer'sidentification in the eventof doubt.
1.5.3 Scope of delivery
Information regarding the scopeof delivery is containedin the 'Description'
chapter onpage 25.
1.5.4 Transport, assembly and setup
The device is delivered by aspecialist company andassembled and set up by
the manufacturer's own service personnelor by an authorized service com-
pany.
As anoperator you are responsiblefor complying with the on-site ventilation
and electricalrequirements at the setup location, seepage 13.

Assembly
DANGER!
Personal danger dueto electric shock or burns!
– The assembly andelectrical connection must comply
with the national regulations.
– The on-site electrical installation must be fitted with an
easily accessible all-poleisolating device (master
switch), complying with overvoltagecategory III. This
means thateach pole must have a contact opening
width complying with the conditions of overvoltage cat-
egory III for full isolation.
– Assembly, installation,upgrading or
repair ofthe device
may onlybe carried out byspecially trained and in-
structedpersonnel.
Information regarding the disassemblyand assembly of thedevice isavaila-
ble in theseparate assembly instructions. These assembly instructions are
intended solely for use by the manufacturer's service personnel or byqualified
specialistsauthorized by the manufacturer.
Ventilation

Where there are great differences in temperature between
thetransport route and the installation site the devicemay
notbe put into operationimmediately after being setup.
–Waitat least 2 hours before connectingthe device to
thepower supply.

Storage temperature:Between -15 °C and+60 °C
The device is not to be used outdoors.
Adaptation of the unit isrequired for operating altitudes greater than 2000 m
above sea level in order toguarantee trouble-free operation.
The device is not suitable for operation in mobile facilities (ships, buses,
trains). Adaptation of the unit is required in order to guaranteetrouble-free
operation when usedin mobile facilities.

1.5.5 Commissioning
DANGER!
Damaged mains power cable!
Danger to persons through electric shock or burns.
– Only the manufacturer or specialist companiesare
permitted toreplace the mains power cable.
Initial commissioning will be undertaken bythe manufacturer's ownservice
personnel or by an authorized service company. The device will be handed
over ready for use.
If the devicehas not been used for a longer period of time, then itmust first
be inspected byour customer service departmentor by another authorized
company before beingput back into operation again.
The device is operated with anexternal time-control unit.
A timecontrol unit mustbe attached so that thedevice automatically switches
off at the latest after<110 % ofthe selected running timeeven if the controller
fails. Thedevice running time mustbe secured twice with a timer control.
Dependenton the local power supply company, the devices can transmit
interference tothe power system ofthe building that impair the audio-
frequency remotecontrol system used by the power supply company. This
can, for example, interfere with the function of night-storage heaters.
Iffaults occur due to the operationof the devices, then theoperator isre-
sponsiblefor the installation of an audio frequency blockingdevice in the
buildingelectrical installation. Please contactyour electrician. Theelectrician
is familiar with the technicalconnection conditions of your local utility compa-
ny so thatthe audio-frequency blockingdevice can be matched to the power
system ofyour power supply company.
1.5.6 Operation and maintenance
Error-free operation, maintenance andservice are required inorder to ensure
thatthe health and safety of the users is notendangered during operation and
toensure that the device is in a fault-free operating condition.
Please observe the information and recommendationsprovided in theseop-
erating instructions.Please ensure that theintervals for the inspection,
maintenanceand service are complied with. Please ensure thatthe lamps are
replaced after the specified usage time.
Unauthorized modifications and changes to the device and its control unit are
prohibited.Failure to comply with this invalidates the operating licence!
To avoid hazards,the devicemust not be used ifthe mains power cable is
damaged. Adamaged mains power cable must be replaced by themanufac-
turer or their customer services,or by trained andqualified specialist person-
nel.

1.5.7 Decommissioning
The device must be disconnectedfrom the power supply in order totempo-
rarily or permanentlydecommissionit.
You mustabide by the legaldisposal requirements when permanently de-
commissioningthe device.
1.5.8 Storage
Store thedevices in adry location with a stable temperature. Oncethe device
has cooled off, packit in plastic wrapping to protect itagainst scratches.
Storage temperature:Between -15 °C and+60 °C
1.5.9 Disposal
Environmental regulations –
disposal of lamps and batteries
Lamps contain fluorescentmaterials and other waste containing mercury.
Batteriescontain heavymetal compounds.
OutsideGermany, the respective national legislation applies. Pleasecontact
your local sales agency.
Packaging
All packagingconsists of 100 % recyclablematerials. Packaging broughtinto
circulationby the JK Corporate Group thatis no longer required canbe re-
turned to the JK Corporate Group. Your partner agency or dealer will be hap-
py to advise.
Disposal of old devices
OutsideGermany, the respective national legislation applies. Pleasecontact
your local sales agency.
The device hasbeen manufactured usingrecyclable materials.The JKCorpo-
rate Group will provide you with information on the content or potential haz-
ards of thematerials used.
The componentsand devices are labelled with the following symbol:
The device will, if requested,be properly disposed of bythe JK Corporate
Group. Thisservice is available free of charge.Your partner agency or dealer
will be happy to advise.
Registration numbers
Companies within the JKCorporateGroup are registered as manufacturers in
Germany andaccept allobligations in respect of the German Electrical and
Electronic Equipment Act.

1.5.11 Export
We emphasize thatthese devices are only intended for Japan andmust not
be exported toor operated in other countries outsideof Japan. The manufac-
turer does not acceptany liability in the event of non-observance! We explicit-
ly emphasizethat non-compliance may result in high liability risks for the
exporter and/or the operator.
1.5.12 AUX (music, optional)
Ifan MP3 player or a smartphoneis used privately during the application,
then this does not constitute a public performance in thesense of copyright
law,so that no reporting or feeobligation exists on the partof the studio oper-
ator towards the organisation responsible for issuing the commercialperfor-
mance rights.
For the public use of MP3 music files, the same legislation appliesas for all
other music sources: As astudio operator/studio owner,you may only play
originalaudio CDs, MCs, audio DVDsetc., on your premises and/or play
music via the 'MP3-music modules' which are provided in the devices from
JK-InternationalGmbH if youhave acquired thenecessary stage rights.You
can acquire these from the organisation responsible for issuing commercial
performance rights inyour country (in Germany:GEMA/GVL).
Copy-protected audioCDs, MCs, audioDVDs etc., as well as titles contained
on these media, may not be converted to MP3 formatand/or saved on HDD,
audio CDs,MCs,audio DVDs etc., if software isused to do this, whichdisa-
bles or circumvents the copy-protection contained on the media.
You must be ready at any time to prove your granting ofstage rights by
presentation ofthe appropriate stagerights certificate when requested by a
representativeor another controllingbody of the responsible organisation.
As long asyou observe all the listedinstructions and have acquired the nec-
essary rights for use of the 'MP3-music module', you mayconvert your origi-
nal audioCDs, MCs,audio DVDs etc. into theMP3 formatrequired by the
player. Only onecopy (duplicate or MP3format conversion) oflawfully ac-
quired audio CDs, MCs, audio DVDsetc.may be made. The source media
(original media) mustbe retained and may not beused simultaneously.

attached to the device. Thesigns shown below are examples.Ensure that the
warning signs are always clearly recognisableand legible. Any missingwarn-
ing signs or stickers mustbe replaced.

The name plate is locatedat the lower left next to the column. It contains
importantinformation for identifying thedevice (e. g. the serial number = Seri-
al-No.).
