What you need to use the assistive listening
devices or the neck loop
You can find the assistive
listening devices (left) on their
charging station on the counter
inside the Encore sound room
(right). Sometimes the A/V
technicians will put out ALDs
on a table in the back
Headphones and the neck loop cables are available in the black case
which should be on the cabinet next to the sound room. If the case is
not out, please check with the audio/visual volunteer or a sta member.
To use the assistive listening devices, you’ll need two items:
one of the assistive listening devices
and either a pair of headphones or a neckloop.
Flow Closed-Back Headphones
Since these headphones have a closed back
that will help block out extraneous outside
noise, they are recommended for people with
moderate to more significant hearing loss.
WilliamsAV Folding Headphones
These are headphones recommended for
people with mild to moderate hearing loss. The
do not block out extraneous outside noise since
they simply go over the top of your ear.
WilliamsAV 18” Neckloop
The neckloop is a miniature audio induction
loop worn around a user’s neck. It uses invisible
magnetic energy to transfer the electrical signal
from a sound source directly into a hearing aid
equipped with a T-coil option.

How to use the Assistive Listening Device
with a neck loop cable and your hearing aid
The assistive listening devices in the Encore Theater can be used with
the headphones available to borrow (as seen on the previous page) in
the black case, or users are welcome to bring down their own wired
headphones or earbuds with a standard headphone plug.
The assistive listening devices in the chapel can also be used with one
of the neckloop cables that can be found with the headphones in the
black case. The neck loop creates a personal t-coil “bubble” to feed
audio directly into a t-coil equipped hearing aid or cochlear implant.
1. Plug the headphone cable
into the ‘EARPHONE JACK’
on the top of the assistive
listening device and put on
the headphones.
2. Turn on the assistive listening device using the ‘ON/OFF, VOLUME
CONTROL SWITCH’ and adjust the control to a comfortable volume.
1. Place the neckloop over your head and around your neck, as seen in
the picture below.
2. Plug the neckloop into the ‘EARPHONE JACK’ (see above image) on
the top of the assistive listening device.
3. Turn on the assistive listening device using the
‘ON/OFF, VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH’ (see above
image) and set the volume to ‘3’.
4. Turn the switch on your hearing aid to the
‘T’ position or t-coil setting. Adjust the volume
to a comfortable level.
If the sound is weak, we recommend increasing
the volume on the assistive listening device,
before increasing volume on your hearing aid.
6. Select Channel.
· Press Channel Seek button once to search for the desired
channel.
· The LED will blink while searching for an active transmitter
channel.
· If multiple transmitter channels are being used, press the
Channel Seek button until you locate the desired channel.
· Receiver will retain the channel setting when the unit is turned
off.

Neckloop Telecoil (T-Coil) Coupler
NKL 001 and NKL 001-S
USER MANUAL
The NKL 001 Neckloop is designed to magnetically
couple the audio output from a Williams Sound unit
into a hearing aid equipped with a T-Coil. It will also
work with any audio device which has a 8-16 Ohm
audio output through a 3.5mm jack. The neckloop
works only with hearing aids equipped with a
T-Coil. The NKL 001-S is designed to work with
products that have stereo jacks.

What to do when you’ve finished using the
assistive listening device
What should I do if I experience a problem?
The assistive listening devices use
rechargeable batteries, so when you are
done, the device needs to be placed back on
the charging unit located in the sound room.
Just find an empty slot and place the device
into the slot with the belt clip facing the
back of the charging unit.
The light directly next to the slot should
light up red indicating the unit is charging.
First and foremost, depending on the problem, we suggest trying a
dierent assistive listening device, pair of headphones, or neckloop.
If that doesn’t work, check with the resident operating the A/V
equipment or any sta member in the Encore for recommendations.
If they are unable to help, you can try reaching out to the
Community Resources, Setup, or Riderwood TV teams for assistance.
Just dial ‘0’ on the phone in the Encore Theater to call the front desk
and ask for A/V assistance in the Encore Theater.

If available, please put the neckloop back
into the plastic bag it originally came in.
Then you can put the neckloop or
headphones back in the black case
for the next user to use.
