IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
SAVE THESE
INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, especially when children are
present, basic safety precautions should always be followed,
including the following.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
KEEP AWAY FROM WATER
DANGER – As with most electrical appliances, electrical
parts carry current even when the switch is off.
• To reduce the risk of death by electric shock:
• Always unplug immediately after using.
• Do not use while bathing.
• Do not place or store curler where it can fall or be pulled
into a tub or sink.
• Do not place in or drop into water or other liquids.
• If the curler falls into water, unplug it immediately.
Do not reach into the water.
WARNING – To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire,
or injury to persons:
• The curler should never be left unattended when plugged
in.
• Close supervision is necessary when the curler is used by,
on, or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.
• Use the curler only for its intended use as described in
this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended
by Etekcity.
• Never operate this curler if it has a damaged cord
or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been
dropped, damaged, or partly/fully immersed in water.
• If the curler or its cord needs examination or repair,
contact Customer Support (see page 14). Do not
repair on your own.
• Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. Do not wrap
the cord around the curler.
• Never block the openings of the curler or place it on a
soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where the openings
may be blocked. Keep the openings free of lint, hair, etc.

5
SAVE THESE
INSTRUCTIONS
• Never use while sleeping.
• Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
• Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol (spray)
products are being used or where oxygen is being
administered.
• Do not use an extension cord with the curler.
• The curling iron and clip are hot when in use. Do not let
eyes and bare skin touch heated surfaces.
• Do not place the heated curling iron directly on any
surface while it is hot or plugged in.
• This curler has a polarized plug (one blade is wider
than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in
a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit
fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat
this safety feature.
• Household use only.
SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED
APPLIANCES
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of
insulation are provided instead of grounding. No
grounding means is provided on a double-insulated
appliance, nor should a means for grounding be
added to the appliance. Servicing a double-insulated
appliance requires extreme care and knowledge of the
system, and should be done only by qualified service
personnel. Replacement parts for a double-insulated
appliance must be identical to the parts they replace.
A double-insulated appliance is marked with the words
“DOUBLE INSULATION” or “DOUBLE INSULATED.”
The symbol (square within a square) may also be
marked on the appliance.

Using Your Curler (cont.)
5. Take one section of hair at a time. Sections should be 1 in
/ 2–3 cm in width, and between shoulder length to 26 in /
65 cm in length [Figure 1.1]. Keep the section smooth by
brushing or combing through the section (from scalp to
hair ends).
6. Make sure the front side of the curler is facing towards
your head [Figure 1.2]. Place the hair between the prongs
inside the heating chamber, through the circular area on
the curler [Figure 1.3].
7. Press and hold the Rotate Button to curl the section of
hair.
Figure 1.1 Figures 1.2 & 1.3
Note:
•
If the curler pulls on your hair at the roots, then the hair
is in the wrong position. Pull the curler in the direction
of the ends of your hair. If the curler still pulls on your
hair incorrectly, then stop pressing the Rotate Button and
release your hair.
•
If your hair is stuck in the curler, follow these steps.
1.
Release the Rotate Button. Turn the curler off.
2.
Pull the curler straight down. If your hair is stuck firmly,
you may need to use some force.
3.
After hair is released, turn on the curler and press the
Rotate Button to allow the heating plates to rotate back
to the correct position.

Using Your Curler (cont.)
9. Repeat for each section of hair. Allow the curls to cool
down for better fixation.
Tips:
• Hair should be completely dry for best results.
• Keep the sections of hair smooth to avoid ridges
partway down a curl.
• This curler is designed for human hair. Do not use on
artificial hair pieces or wigs, as these may melt from
the heat generated by this curler.
• Do not use on hair which has been treated with
chemicals (such as lacquer or lotion) as the hair can
stick to the barrel, reducing its efficiency. Please clean
hair thoroughly before use.
• This curler reaches very high temperatures. To avoid
damaging your hair, do not keep it on your hair for a
long time.
• Unplug and allow to cool fully before any cleaning. This
curler reaches very high temperatures when switched
on, and will take time to cool down fully. While cooling,
place on a heat-resistant surface, in a safe place away
from children. Never cover the curler.
• We recommend using heat protectant to protect your
hair while curling.
• Practice with the curler to get even better results and
perfect your favorite hairstyles.

11
Storage
Care & Maintenance
This curler does not typically require maintenance. Keep all
vents and openings clear of dirt and dust.
If cleaning is necessary, unplug the curler and allow it to
completely cool. Wipe the outside with a cloth. Use the
included cleaning brush to clean inside the barrel.
If the curler is malfunctioning, unplug it, allow it to cool, and
contact Customer Support (see page 14). Do not try to
repair it yourself.
CAUTION: Never allow the power supply cord to be
pulled or twisted. Only pull the cord from an outlet by
the plug. Never wrap the cord around the curler. Do
not put too much tension on the area where the cord
connects to the curler. [Figure 2.1] This area will be
damaged, causing it to rupture and short circuit. Inspect
the cord frequently for damage. Stop using immediately
if damage is visible or if the curler stops unexpectedly
or works intermittently.
Allow the curler to cool, then store in its box out of reach of
children in a safe, dry location. Do not jerk or strain cord.
