HEATED BACK SUPPORT
USER INSTRUCTIONS
WELCOME
Your high performance HeatWave Heated Back Support, powered by FabRoc™ Heat Technology by EXO2,
has been designed to provide you with warmth where and when you need it, whatever the weather.
FabRoc™, a revolutionary material invented for use in the aerospace industry, is extremely efficient in
generating heat from a low voltage source. FabRoc™ panels are sewn into your HeatWave to provide
direct heat to your body at the kidney level, ideal for transferring warmth through your body via the
bloodstream.
HeatWave FabRoc™ panels are pre-set to a surface temperature of 110 F. It is not possible to ‘overheat’
FabRoc™ as it automatically uses less power as it reaches its operating temperature, a unique property
that ensures the material is intrinsically safe.

CONNECTING TO A MOTOR CYCLE
The HeatWave back support is simple to set-up and operate. Every support comes supplied with a
standard power cable, with an inline 10 Amp fuse, for direct connection to the motorcycle (or similar)
battery terminal. (The line with a fuse should be connected to the battery’s positive terminal and the
other line should be connected to the battery negative terminal.) To operate the HeatWave, simply plug
the belt power cord into the socket. A 1.3mm Extension Cable is also available from EXO2 if you’re desired
set-up requires additional line length.
The belt will start to heat up and will reach its maximum temperature in 10-15 minutes. The self-
regulating properties of the belt will prevent it from overheating.
USING THE BATTERY
1. Remove the connecting cable from the pocket.
2. Insert the small 1.3mm DC plug into the battery socket.
3. Use the ON / UP and OFF / DOWN buttons on top of the battery to dial in
your preferred heat level 1-5 (5 being the highest).
CHARGING THE BATTERY
1. Remove the battery pack from the HeatWave pocket.
2. Connect the charger plug to the battery socket.
3. Plug the charger into the wall outlet.
4. The battery’s charge level indicator will tell you how much charge life is remaining (Levels 0-9 with
9 being fully charged and 0 being fully depleted). This indicator will also continuously exhibit the
charge level while plugged into the charger.
5. Depleted battery packs will take approximately 3 hours to fully recharge. When the battery is
completely charged, the system allows no further current to enter the battery.
6. The battery will be fully charged when the battery displays ‘9’ on the LED and the light on the
charger turns green.
The charger unit supplied has been chosen specifically for the EXO2 battery packs. No other charger
should be used. The use of any other charger unit is dangerous, may cause injury and will void the
warranty.
GETTING THE BEST RESULTS
Although the battery has been charged and checked, we recommend that you charge it for at least 3 hours
prior to first use. The closer the FabRoc™ panels are to your skin, the more heat you will feel. For
maximum benefit, wear only a fine pullover, t-shirt or blouse underneath your HeatWave Heated Back
Support.
Heated back supports powered by the optional battery pack will provide heat for up to 3 hours of
continuous use on Level 5 and up to 8 hours on Level 1. Research indicates that most customers typically
use Level 3 to meet both their heat production and battery life needs. Turn the battery ON Level 5 prior to
entering a cold environment and then dial in your preferred level of comfort from there (which also meets
your battery conservation needs).

SAFETY FEATURES
The FabRoc® heating system has been designed for safe and reliable use. It has been tested to comply
with European safety regulations and has been marked with the CE seal of approval. Safety devices are
included to ensure the unit is rendered safe, even under faulty conditions. DO NOT replace or interfere
with the electrical components in the heated back support, the battery or the charger unit. DO NOT
attempt to open the sealed battery unit. Batteries should be discarded in accordance to local
governmental regulations.
THE HEATWAVE, INCLUDING THE BATTERY PACK, IS NOT DESGINED TO BE USED UNDER WATER. DO NOT
IMMERSE THE PORTABLE BATTERY PACK IN WATER AS THIS CAN CAUSE ELECTRICAL FAULTS AND INJURY.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Remove the batteries from your heated back support pocket. Hand wash the garment in warm water
using any commercial liquid soap product and rinse thoroughly. It is inadvisable to use fabric conditioner,
biological powders or strong detergents. DO NOT dry clean. It is recommended to drip or line dry the
heated back support.
WARRANTY
Every heated back support has a one-year warranty covering all electronic and mechanical failures. In the
unlikely event that any part should fail within the first year, return it to us and we will repair or replace it
free of charge. Note: The warranty does not cover intentional alterations, accidental damage or
improper cleaning.
TROUBLESHOOTING
What happens if my heated back support is torn?
1. DO NOT attempt to replace or interfere with the electrical components in the heated back support.
2. Return the garment to EXO2 for repair.
What happens if my heated back support does not get warm?
Check to ensure that your HeatWave Heated Back Support is connected to a power source, either via the
motorcycle fused cable or the optional battery pack.
If connected directly to the motorcycle, confirm that both the cable to the bike battery and the cable to
the FabRoc™ heat panels are fitted correctly. The heat panel cable is located inside the right pocket of
your HeatWave.
When using the motorcycle power cable to connect to your HeatWave, the small battery cable that
connects to the optional portable battery pack is to be plugged into its associated socket of the fused
power cable (also found inside the pocket of your HeatWave).
When using the portable battery pack, ensure that the battery is charged. After plugging the battery pack
into the associated charger, if the red LED on the charger comes on and stays on, and/or the Battery LED
reads ‘0’ or ‘1’, the battery pack needs to be recharged. If the battery pack is charged, showing a green
LED (or Levels 2-9) when switched on, confirm that corresponding cable is securely inserted into the
battery pack socket.

4
NEVER LEAVE BATTERIES THAT ARE CHARGING UNATTENDED!
DO NOT WEAR YOUR HEATWAVE HEATED BACK SUPPORT WHILE CHARGING THE BATTERY!
KEEP BATTERIES AWAY FROM WATER!
