Exclusion Zones
The Self Loan Station can be affected if placed too close to a Smart Bin, Smart Shelf or a
Security Gate. Please see the Smart Bin, Smart Shelf and Security Gate Architect Information
Packs for details on the exclusion zones of these products.
Installation Options
The V5 Self Loan Station can be installed as free standing, leaning on a wall, desktop, back to
back or wall mounted.
Note that all required access to the unit (librarian administrative access, such as changing
receipt roll, and FE Technologies technician access to the internals of the hardware) is
performed via the front of the unit, allowing the unit to be installed against a wall or back to
back without requiring the unit to be moved at any time for service or maintenance.
Please note that the wall mount option requires special mounting hardware at additional
cost. The wall also needs to meet specific structural requirements. If you intend to mount the
Self Loan Station to a wall, please contact FE Technologies for more details.

System Requirements
Compliance with the following specifications will help ensure that the system performs as
designed.
Power supply
The Self Loan Station requires a standard 10AMP electrical point. A cable of 1.5m in length and
terminating in a standard three pin plug is supplied.
Power input: 240 V AC 50/60 Hz, 1.5 A max.
Power usage: 100W
Network connection
The V5 Self Loan Station requires a network point. The network cable inlet is via an opening in
the bottom rear of the stand. A cable of 1.5m in length is supplied.
Cable inlet options
Free standing Self Loan Station
There are three cable inlet openings at the lower rear of the Self Loan Station.
It is also possible to use under floor power and network points by threading the cables through
the base plate.
Desktop Self Loan Station and wall mount
There is one cable inlet opening at the lower left back corner of the Self Loan Station.
Free standing against the wall
There is a large opening in the lower pedestal allowing the internal exposure of a power point
and network point when installed at a compatible position.
Environmental specifications
Operating/storage temperature: 0°C to 40°C.
Operating/storage humidity: 0% to 85% (relative humidity, non-condensing).

Installation Requirements
The four fixing points (14mm holes) provided in the floor plate of the Self Loan Station must be
used to secure it in the desired location (see diagram below). The fixing method may vary to
suit particular floor types, but the preferred method for a concrete floor is using the provided
12mm Dynabolts™ and washers to suit, as specified below.
To fasten the Self Loan Station floor plate, mark out and drill four mount holes (as required
using the dimensions provided) in the desired location, and fit with the anchor method of your
choice.

Note: The floor plate can be used as a template for marking the holes.
The 4 floor mounting holes are used to securely anchor the floor plate to the floor
(prior to final self-loan station chassis install).
If installed as detailed in this document, the free standing Self Loan Station will have at least a
50kg load-bearing capacity at the front mid-section of the table top.
Clearances
No additional clearance is required for functionality. All service is from the front of the unit.
Levelling
The mounting plate must be installed on a level surface. If thick pile carpet is used on the floor,
it is recommended that the carpet is cut out using the base plate as a template, so that the
base plate is fixed directly to the hard floor.
Wall mount
The top half of the self-loan station can be mounted on a suitable wall and requires the
purchase and installation of a custom wall bracket. The library is responsible for organising the
anchoring of the bracket to the wall.

If installed as detailed in this document, the wall mounted Self Loan Station will have at least a
50kg load-bearing capacity at the front mid-section of the table top.
If mounting onto concrete walls, use 10mm x 90mm Dynabolts™, if mounting on to stud walls,
make sure the bracket is anchored onto suitable timber studs. Use 8mm x 70mm timber cap
screws making sure that pilot holes are drilled and the screw is anchored centrally on the studs.
Depending on the stud spacing, a suitable timber backing plate may be required.

Installation Responsibilities
All structural works, such as drilling, cutting walls, floor and floor covering, is the responsibility
of the library. All commissioning, configuring and tuning are FE Technologies’ responsibility.
Please see below for specific details.
The library’s responsibilities
The library is responsible for the following provisions:
•Mounting surface
The library is responsible for constructing a suitable floor mounting surface in preparation for
installation. The floor must be flat and level in the area where the Self Loan Station will be
located, and mounting bolt locations must be free of under-floor obstructions, including
electrical conduits, reinforcement rods, water pipes and large pieces of aggregate, which may
interfere with bolt anchor installation or compromise the floor structure when installed.
Concrete in the area under the mounting feet must be a minimum of 100mm thick for
anchoring.
Structural works
All structural works, such as drilling holes, anchoring Dynabolts™ and so on, are to be
performed by the library maintenance contractor.
NOTE: This includes the anchoring of the wall bracket with a load-bearing capacity of 150kg. A
note of certification from an authority acceptable to the Library stating that the bracket has
been installed with a load bearing capacity of 150kg at the bracket will be required before the
Self Loan Station can be installed on the bracket by the FE Technologies technician.
Electrical connection
Approved electrical wiring, fuse boxes, junction boxes, AC electrical outlets or conduits,
connection bushings and associated wiring required to provide noise-free, reliable electrical
power to the system (as specified in the power specifications section), must be installed by the
library in compliance with applicable building and electrical codes.

Network connection
A Cat5e or better network connection must be installed in compliance with applicable building
and electrical codes.
FE Technologies’ responsibilities
The FE Technologies technician is responsible for commissioning of the system, including all
inter-system connections, performing RFID antenna-tuning adjustments and all software
configurations and testing.
Compliance to AS/NZS1428.2 standards
The Self Loan Station, when installed as per specification, complies with AS/NZS1428.2
standards for access and mobility for the disabled.
