1.4 Safety Labels
Safety labels place important information from the
Users’ Manual on the folding dressing table.
Read and follow label instructions. Replace worn or
damaged labels immediately. New labels are available
from EMSAR, in the U.S.A. and Canada, (page 12) or
from your Ferno distributor.
The labels below are affixed to the table edges where
the halves meet. Keep hands clear of this area.

2.1 Skills
Operators using the table need:
a working knowledge of mortuary-service
procedures.

3.1 Table Description
TheModel34FoldingDressingTable (called the “table”
in this manual) is a mortuary-service product designed
for use in dressing a body.
The table is for professional use only by one trained
operator.Additional help may be needed when working
with heavy bodies.
The table features a two-piece laminated top that folds
for compact storage.
The legs are fitted with six-inch wheels with casters
that swivel and lock.

4 - USING THE TABLE
4.1 Before Placing the Table
in Service
Read this manual.
Confirm that the table operates properly (see
Inspecting the Table, page 11).
Personnel who will work with the table need to
be trained (see Operator Skills and Training,
page 5).
Practice using the table before using it in a work
situation.
4.2 General Guidelines for Use
• The table is for professional use only.
• Use the table only as described in this manual.
• Follow standard mortuary-service procedures
when using the table.
• Lift only the weight you can lift safely. Use
additional help when working with heavy loads.
4.4 Wheel Configurations
The wheels can swivel in any direction when the
casters are unlocked. Convert the swivel casters to
directional casters by locking them in place.
To roll the table forward and backward only, turn all
four casters outward and turn the swivel locks toward
the ends of the table (Figure 3).
To help keep the table stationary during use, lock each
caster at a 90-degree angle to the adjacent casters
(Figure 4).

4.3 Locking/Unlocking a Caster
Thewheels lock at 90-degree angles, either parallelwith
or perpendicular to the long side of the table.
To lock a caster, place the wheel in one of the four
locking positions and turn the swivel lock toward the
end of the table (Figure 1).
To unlock a caster, turn the swivel lock toward the
side of the table (Figure 2).

4.5 Unfolding the Table
1. Turn all four wheels parallel with the long side
of the table and lock the casters.

2. Unfold the table by grasping both halves of the
table top and pulling outward (Figure 5).
3. Guide the top down to complete the unfolding
(Figure 6).
Note: If the table unfolds too quickly, bolts may
need to be tightened according to instructions
in the Note on page 11, or replaced. See
Inspecting the Table, page 11, and Repair Parts
and Service, page 12.

1. Turn all four wheels parallel with the longsides
of the table and lock the casters.
2. With the fingers and thumb of one hand, spread
the diagonal braces apart. Use the other hand to
lift upward on one half of the table top (Figure 7).
3. Once the stop block on the inner brace passes
behind the outer brace, let go of the braces. Use
both hands (Figure 8) to push the table halves
together.

4.7 Rolling the Table
To roll the table around obstacles or through a narrow
space, fold it, grasp the edges, and push from an open
side (Figure 9).
The table does not lock in the folded position and can
open abruptly if you pull on one of the halves.
To roll the table through open areas, push or pull it in the
open (unfolded) position.

Maintaining the Table
5 - MAINTAINING THE TABLE
Important
Water under high pressure penetrates joints,
flushes away lubricant, and causes corrosion.
Do not use a high-pressure washer, or steam,
to clean the table.
When using maintenance products, follow the
manufacturers’directions and read the manufacturers’
material safety data sheets.
In the U.S.A., contact Ferno Customer Relations
(page 14) to order Ferno disinfectants and cleaners.
5.1 Maintenance Schedule
The table requires regular maintenance. Set up and
follow a maintenance schedule. A form to record
maintenance is provided on page 15. The schedule at
right represents minimum maintenance.
5.2 Disinfecting and Cleaning
the Table
Wipe or spray all surfaces of the table with disinfectant.
Follow disinfectant manufacturer’s directions. Ferno
recommends inspecting the table for obvious damage
as you disinfect it.
Clean all surfaces of the table with warm water and a
mild detergent. Rinse the table with warm water. Dry
with a towel or allow it to air dry.
Improper maintenance can cause injury.

manual.

Important
Using abrasive cleaning compounds or
applicators on the table can cause damage.
Do not use abrasive materials to clean the
table.
Important
Disinfectants and cleaners containing bleach,
phenolics, or iodines can cause damage to the
table. Disinfect and clean only with products

5.4 Lubricating the Table
Clean the areas to be lubricated. Refer to the diagram below and lubricate the components with SAE 30-weight oil.
Does the table roll smoothly?
Do all the casters lock and unlock properly?
Is the table free of excessive wear?
If inspection shows damage or excessive wear, remove
the table from service until repair is made (see Repair
Parts and Service, page 12).
Note: All fasteners involving rotating functions should
be securely tightened. Completely tighten any loose
fasteners, then reverse 1/4 turn. Fasteners that no
longer can be tightened should be replaced (see
Repair Parts and Service, page 12).
5.3 Inspecting the Table
Have your maintenance personnel follow the
instructions in Using the Table, pages 7-9, and check
thefollowing:
Are all components present?
Are all stop blocks, screws, nuts, and bolts
securely in place?
Do all moving parts operate smoothly and
properly?
Does the table fold and unfold properly?

7 - LIMITED WARRANTY
Limited Warranty Summary
Ferno-Washington, Inc. (Ferno), warrants the products we manufacture to be free from defects in material and
workmanship for one year except as follows:
(A) External finishes (decals, etc.) are warranted for 90 days.
(B) Repairs and services are warranted for 90 days or until the end of the time period(s) above,
whichever comes last.
This limited warranty applies when you use and care for the product properly. If the product is not used and cared
for properly, the warranty is void. The warranty period begins the day the product is shipped from Ferno or the day
you receive it if you have proof of the delivery date. Shipping charges are not covered by the limited warranty. We
are not liable for shipping damages or damages sustained through using the product.
Limited Warranty Obligation
If a product or part is proven to be defective, Ferno will repair or replace it. At our option, we will refund the
product’s purchase price. The purchaser accepts these terms in lieu of all damages.
