ance to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 or IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1 or a Class 2 circuit in accordance to
NEC or CEC.
2 Function
2.1 General
The analogue input module provides analogue voltage inputs and current inputs for connecting
sensors and enables the recording and further processing of analogue current and voltage signals.
The module analyses the analogue measured value depending on the signal range that is used and
provides the result as a digital value for further processing. Status and error messages can be shown
by LED displays on the module.
The module behaviour can be set using parameters è 3 Parameterisation.
The sensor supply has an electronic fuse for protection against short circuit or overload. If this fuse
responds, the sensor supply of the module is switched off and the error is shown by an LED display on
the module. After the elimination of the short circuit or the overload, the sensor supply is switched on
again automatically (default). This behaviour can be adjusted by parameters. The electronic fuse of
the module is slow-blowing. Sensors can therefore also be connected with a temporarily higher cur-
rent requirement.

The analogue value is always shown with 15bit plus sign (VZ).
Separate resolutions arise depending on the signal range.

2.2.3 Example of Data "VZ + 15 bit"
The following example shows the processing of the analogue input signals with the data format
“VZ+15bit”, which means without scaling.
The example uses a pressure sensor that converts the physical measuring range from 0…6bar linear
to the signal ranges 0…10V, 0…20mA or 4…20mA.

2.2.4 Example Data Format “Linear Scaled”
When the data format "linear scaled" is used, any linear scaling is possible.
The specification of the limits defines the scaling end values of the nominal range.
The distance between the upper and lower limit must be at least 100dez to ensure a correct limit dia-
gnostics.
The following example shows the processing of the analogue input signals with the data format "lin-
ear scaled" and the following limits (scaling end values):
– Lower limit: 0
– Upper limit: 6000
The example uses a pressure sensor that converts the physical measuring range from 0…6bar linear
to the signal ranges 0…10V or 0…20mA.

The scaling end values for this data format are identical to the limit values for the value falling below
nominal range or value exceeding nominal range.

2.3 Diagnostics
Various options are available for diagnosing errors:
– Internal system diagnostics
– LED indicators on the product
The internal system diagnostics is described in the “Description of automation system CPX-E”

3.1 Overview of Parameters
Module and channel parameters are available to adapt the module to the situation of use.
General settings that affect the entire module are made using module parameters.
Channel-specific settings are made separately for each channel using the channel parameters.

3.2.1 Diagnostics of sensor supply short circuit
The "Diagnostics of sensor supply short circuit" defines whether the diagnostics of the sensor supply
in regard to short circuit or overload should be activated or deactivated.
When the diagnostics are activated, the error will be sent to the bus module and displayed on the
module by the error LED.

The parameter "Diagnostics of parameterisation error" defines if the diagnostics for the subsequently
listed parameters must be activated or deactivated with regard to unapproved settings:

module by the error LED.

3.2.3 Behaviour after SCS
The "Behaviour after SCO" parameter defines whether the voltage remains switched off or automatic-
ally switches on again after a short circuit or overload of the sensor supply.
In the case of the "Leave power switched off" setting, the CPX-E automation system must be switched
off and on to restore the power.

3.2.5 Sensor Supply
The parameter "Sensor supply" defines if the sensor supply must be switched off or switched on.
The sensor supply can also be switched off and switched on during operation.

3.2.6 Diagnostics of Overload at Analogue Inputs
The parameter "Diagnostics of overload at analogue inputs" defines if the diagnostics for the current
inputs must be activated or deactivated with regard to overload.
When the diagnostics are activated, the error at an input current of >30mA will be sent to the bus
module and displayed with the error LED on the module.

3.2.7 Behaviour after Overload at Analogue Inputs
The parameter "Behaviour after overload at analogue inputs" defines if the power remains switched
off after an overload at the inputs or if it should be switched on again automatically.
In the case of the "Leave power switched off" setting, the automation system CPX-E must be switched
off and on to restore the power.

3.2.8 Hysteresis of Limit Monitoring
The parameter "Hysteresis of limit monitoring" defines the hysteresis value of the limit monitoring for
all channels.
The set hysteresis value must not be larger than the difference between the upper and lower limit val-
ues.
The defined value is not checked for validity and incorrect parameterisations will be applied.
