Tab. 4 UL/CSA Certification Information
– Technical data and environmental conditions may be subject to change in order to comply with
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) certification requirements for the USA and Canada.
Observe deviations èTechnical data.
– The unit shall be supplied by a power source which fulfils the requirements on a limited-energy
circuit in accordance to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 or on a Limited Power Source (LPS) in accord-
ance to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 or IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1 or a Class 2 circuit in accordance to
NEC or CEC.
2 Function
2.1 General
The digital input module provides digital inputs for the connection of sensors, thereby enabling the
recording and further processing of digital input signals.
The sensors are supplied by the connection equipment with a voltage of 24VDC and return a 0- or
1-signal to the inputs. Status and error messages can be shown by LED indicators on the module.
The module behaviour can be set using parameters è 3 Parameterisation.
The sensor supply is provided by the operating voltage supply UEL/SEN on the bus module or controller
and electronically fuse-protected against short circuit or overload. If this fuse responds, the sensor
supply of the module is switched off and the error is shown by an LED indicator on the module.
After the elimination of the short circuit or the overload, the sensor supply is switched on again auto-
matically (default). This behaviour can be adjusted by parameters.
The electronic fuse of the module is slow-blowing. Sensors can therefore also be connected with a
temporarily higher current requirement.
