Turn tile pot handles to the side or the back of tile cooktop, away from the reach of children.
Handles should not be positioned over adjacent burners.
Always check that the control knobs ate in the bff' position when you have finished cooking.
While using the cooktop, surfaces can become hot enough to cause burns.
Do not leavechildren alone or unattended near the cooktop. Never allow children to stand, sit
or play near,on, or with the cooktop.
Do not leavethe cooktop unattended when in use.

Using your cooktop
This section tells you how to successfully operate your cooktop
Choose the cor/trol knob for the burner you want to use. Pressdown anc_turn the knob
counterclockwise to the HIsymbol (see below). All the igniters will spark until the gas ignites on
the selected burner.

Adjusting the flame
The flame actjusts ariywhere between the HIanc_LOsymbols. Do riot regulate the flame between
HI and OFF.
Temperature control
Your cooktop offers awide range of temperature settings from c!elicateslow cooking to the
intense high temperatures needed for boiling and searing.
For general cooking purposes, turn the control knob to the HI setting to begin cooking or bring
food to the boil and adjust asnecessary. Once your pan is hot, reduce the temperature to
maintain asteady heat to cook your food through. This will reduce cooking times.
Resultswill vary depending on the type of pans used and the quantities being cooked. You
will need to experiment with the temperature settings to match your desired cooking result.
Different types of cooking utensils will vary in efficiency.

Auto reqgnition
Auto re ignition isfor your converfience and safety. The auto re ignition feature causes the
igniters to spark automatically and the burner to re light ifa flame blows out or if the flame is
severely distorted by a draft or a cooktop ventilation system.
Constant sparking
The igniters must be kept clean and dry to
work correctly. Dirty or wet igniters could
cause constant sparking, even ifa flame
is present. (SeeTroubleshooting guide).
Igniters can be kept clean
with a small brush and
rubbing alcohol.
If the burner has an inconsistent flame or does not light
Ifthe gasdoes not light within four seconds,turn the knob to OFF. Allow at least two minutes
for the gas to disperse before trying again.
Check that the power to the product is switched on.
Check that the burner parts are assembled correctly asbelow:

Power failure
In the event of a power failure, turn all burner control knobs to OFF. The burners car/be lit by
holding a lighted match dose to the side of the burner and turning tile control knob to HI. Wait
until the flame is burning all the way around the burner cap before adjusting.

Cookware
Never use plastic or aluminum foil
dishes on the burners.
Using a wok
Use your wok only on the middle burner.
Do not use a wok largerthan 18"(45cm).
When using any wok, make sure it does not
push other pots and pans aside.This
could make them unstable, or deflect heat
onto nearby walls or the countertop.
Wok ring
Make sure the wok ring fits tightly on the four
fingers of the grate. Always usethe wok ring
with your wok.
Using the SimmerMat (GC913only)
The SimmerMat helps you control the
temperature of your cooking surface to allow
the long slow simmering that is needed for
successfully cooking delicate foods. Use at tow
heat only.

To use the SimmerMat
1 Firstcook the food, or bring to the boil, over high heat.
2 Turn the burner offand carefully place the
SimmerMat on the grate with the points facing
upward. Reignite the burner, turn to LOand place
your saucepan on top of the SimmerMat.
Do not use an asbestos mat or decorative covers
between the flame and the saucepan asthis may
cause serious damage to your cooktop.
Hot Surface Hazard
Always turn the
burner off before
moving the
SimmerMat and
handle the hot
SimmerMat with a
pot holder.
Failure to do so
could result in burns
and scalds.

Using saucepans
Do not let large saucepans or frying pans overlap tile countertop astills can deflect heat and
damage tile countertop surface.
Hold tile handle of tile saucepan to prevent movement of cookware when stirring.
Saucepans should havea thick fiat base. Food in a saucepan with an uneven basewiJJtake
bnger to cook.
Extremely heavy saucepans may bend the grate or deflect the flame.
Match the bottom of your saucepans with the cooking zone and be sure that they are stable.
This will give you the most efficient cooking.
Griddle
Using the griddle (66913 on_y}
A griddle isideal for cooking a variety of foods. Cook steak,tender cuts of meat, panini and char
grilled vegetables on the ribbed sideand griddle scones,pancakes,pikeJets,poJenta and eggs on
the flat side.
The surfacesof a cast iron griddle will become more and more non stick ascooking oils become
baked in. This 'seasoning' process can be started by coating both surfaces of the griddle with
cooking oil and baking in the oven at 300 °F (150 °C) for about an hour.
Cooking with a griddle
Only use the griddle over the two lea hand burners.
Heat the griddle for a few minutes before using.
Brushthe food, not the griddle, with oil,to reduce splatter and smoking.
Cook steakand vegetables at high temperatures on the ribbed side of the griddle.Turn the steak
only once, about halfway through the cooking time and test by pressing the surface of the steak.
The softer the meat is,the'rarer'or lesswell done it will be.
Griddle scones,pancakes,pikelets, polenta and eggs are best cooked slowly at medium to low
temperatures on the flat side of the griddle.
Prolonged cooking with the griddle at high temperatures may damage the cooktop.
Cleaning a cast-iron griddle
Leavethe griddle to cool before cleaning. Scrape away any food residue and wash in warm
soapy water.
Do not scour to tile bare metal when cleaning or you will remove the non stick coating that has
built up during cooking.
Dry the griddle thoroughly and wipe with a thin coating of cooking oil to prevent rust forming,
especially when the griddle is new.

Care and clear ir g
Use soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth to clean the cooktop, rinsewith clean water and
dry thoroughly. Clean tile cooktop regularly, before spills become burnt on. Soaking stubborn
stains under tile soapy cloth for afew minutes will help make them easier to remove. Grates are
dishwasher safe.If stubborn soil remains, folbw the recommended cleaning methods outlined
below.

Always use the miJdestcleaner that wih do the job. Useclean, soft cbths, sponges or paper
towels.
Clean brushed stainless steel finishes in the direction of the grain.
o Dry thoroughly to avoid water marks.
Do not clean cooktop parts in any sel_cleaning oven.
After cleaning, replace all cooktop parts in their proper position before using the cooktop.
Rinseand wipe away all cleaner residue as when heated the cleaners can permanently stain
the cooktop.
The cleaners recommended on the following page indicate cleaner types and do not
constitute an endorsement of a particular brand. Use all products according to directions
on the package.
Cleaning procedures listed opposite are only applicable for the 'F&P Gas cooktops' and are
not applicable for other appliances with stainless steel finish.

q Why doesn't my cooktop light?

A No,these are etched by laser.
@My burner flames are yellow /slow to start, is something wrong?
A Yes,there area number of factors which could be causing this:
1.If you use bottled gas, this may indicate you aregetting near the end of the bottle.
Z Your cooktop may not be suited to the gas you are using, check with your service
3. The gas pressure may not be correct, check with your service person/installer.

Check the gas supply valve isturned on and the supply to
the house isworking. Gasshould be heard when you turn a
burner on.

observed.

When you purchase any new Fisher& Paykelwhiteware Product for personal or consumer use
you automatically receive aone year Limited Warranty covering parts and labor for servicing
within the 48 mainBnd United States,Hawaii,Washington D.Cand Canada. In Alaskathe Limited
Warranty isthe same except that you must pay to ship the Product to the service shop or the
service technician's travel to your home. Products for use in Canada must be purchased through
the Canadian distribution channel to ensure regulatory comp%nce.
Ifthe Product is installed in a motor vehicle, boat or similar mobile facility, you receive the same
one year Limited Warranty, but you must bring the vehicle, boat or mobile facility containing the
Product to tile service shop at your expense or pay the service technician's travel to the k)cation
of the Product.
Fisher & Paykel undertakes to:
Repairwithout cost to the owner either for matedal or labor any part of the Product, the serial
number of which appears on the Product, which isfound to be defective. In Alaska,you must
pay to ship the Product to the service shop or for the service technician's travel to your home.

the service shop at your expense or pay for the service technician's travel to tile location of the
Product. Ifwe are unable to repair adefective part of the Product after a reasonable number of
attempts, at our option we may replace the part or the Product, or we may provide you afull

This warranty extends to the original purchaser and any succeeding owner of the Product for
products purchased for ordinary single family home use.
All service under this Limited Warranty shall be provided by Fisher& Paykelor its Authorized
Service Agent during normal business hours.
How long does this Limited Warranty last?
Our liability under this Limited Warranty expires ONE YEARfrom the date of purchase of the
Product by the first consumer.
Our liability under any implied warranties, including the implied warranty of merchantability
(an unwritten warranty that tile Product is fit for ordinary use)also expires ONEYEAR(or such
bnger period as required by applicable law) from the date of purchase of the Product by the first
