Flexball 4500 CPP
Pitch Propeller + Throttle Control
General features
This system is composed by:
 one Actuator Box for controlling (through two mechanical push-pull cables) the engine
throttle and the propeller’s pitch control;
 one Command Station with two levers, one for the throttle control (red color) and the other
for the propeller’s pitch control (black color)
 a grey CAN Bus cable to connect the Actuator Box to the Command Station, whose length
is in the range 3m – 200m.
The system, once enabled, permits to “drive by wire” both the speed and the propeller’s pitch.

Installation
To have general information about installation of the Flexball 4500 Electronic System please refer
to “Operating manual & mounting instructions” supplied together with the system.
Here we report only the peculiar features of the Flexball 4500 CPP system.
Propeller’s Pitch control
Engine Throttle control
The only operation required is to set the strokes of the mechanical cables driving throttle and
propeller’s pitch. Follow the instructions on chapters 12.2. and 13 of the general manual, keeping in
mind that:
 PL and PH define the stroke on the propeller side (left, green circled in above pictures)
 UL and UH define the stroke on the throttle side (right, red circled in above pictures)
 UL and PL must be near the emergency knob and UH and PH must be on the opposite side:
afterwards you can always reverse via software their positions using the A0 parameter (see
general manual)
At the next power on the actuator will maintain the throttle at minimum while the pitch control
cable will be moved to the 50% stroke’s position, that is its basic state (see below picture).

Pilot instructions
Once you have connected all the cables and powered up the system, the Command Station will do
an “all leds” flash and - after that - only the two green leds will stay on.
Now:
1. move the left lever to its central (detent) and the throttle lever to its minimum;
2. press the “Command” button for at least 2s and the red led (“Command”) should enlighten.
In this condition you can increase the engine rpm moving the right lever (red color) and change the
propeller’s pitch around its central point moving the left lever (black color).
NOTE: the Warm-Up function is not implemented
In case of a Command Station or Actuator Box fault, some leds will blink. Refer to the general
manual in the “Troubleshooting” section for some guidelines in such a case.
