Getting Started
The NIV-570 uses tw CR-2032 Lithium
batteries that c me pre-installed. Turn the
device ver and gently pull the battery
insulati n sheet t rem ve it.
Press t turn the pr duct n. Use a
paper clip t gently press the RESET
butt n n the back f the device. F r
m re inf rmati n, please see “Resetting
y ur Device”. Warning! Pressing the reset
butt n with m re than light pressure may
permanently disable y ur unit. In additi n,
resetting the unit may erase settings and
inf rmati n y u have entered.
Rep acing the Batteries
The batteries sh uld be changed when
y u see a l w battery warning. Please
have 2 new CR-2032 batteries and a
small Phillips screwdriver at hand bef re
y u f ll w the steps bel w.
Warning! If the batteries wear ut
c mpletely, r if y u take m re than a few
sec nds while changing the batteries, any
user-entered inf rmati n may be erased.

1. Turn the unit ff and turn it ver.
2. Use the Phillips screwdriver t
unscrew the battery c ver screw.
3. Push gently n the tab f the
battery c ver and rem ve it.
4. Rem ve the ld batteries.
Note: Use a paper clip if necessary
t rem ve the ld batteries.
5. Install 2 new CR-2032 lithium
batteries in their place with p sitive
p larity facing up.
Important: Be sure that the
batteries are installed c rrectly.

6. Replace the battery c ver and
secure it with the screw.

Changing the Settings
When using this H ly Bible, y u can activate the Learn a Verse feature, adjust the screen
c ntrast, the shut ff time, and the type size. The shut ff time is h w l ng y ur unit stays n
if n key is pressed.
1. Press until y u see the Bible menu.
2. Press t see the Settings menu.
3. Use r t m ve the highlight t Contrast, Shutoff r Type Si e.
4. Press ENTER.
5. Use r t change the setting.
The current setting is marked.
6. Press ENTER t st re y ur changes.
Press BACK t exit with ut making a change.
Reading the Ho y Bib e
Old Testament and New Testament c ntain the B ks f the H ly Bible.
1. Press until y u see the Bible menu.
2. Use r t highlight Old Testament r New Testament and press ENTER t
select it.
3. Use r t highlight a B k and press ENTER t select it.
Y u can als type the name f a B k t highlight it. F r example, with New
Testament selected, press Rt g directly t Romans.
Note: F r B ks that begin with numbers, type the number by h lding FN and

Finding Ho y Bib e Verses
T g directly t a specific H ly Bible verse, enter its B k title, Chapter number, and
Verse number.
If y u enter nly a B k title and Chapter number, y u will g t the start f the Chapter. If
y u enter nly a B k title, y u will g t the start f that B k.
1. Press CLEAR r press until y u see the Verse Reference screen.
2. Type a B k title.
T erase a letter, press BACK.
When y u type the initial letters f a B k title, it will be aut matically c mpleted f r
y u. F r example, type LA f r Lamentations, LE f r Leviticus r LU f r Luke.
Note: If y u have n t typed en ugh letters f r the B k title t aut -c mplete, y u
can see a list f all B ks that match the letters y u have entered by pressing
ENTER. Press r t highlight the B k y u want and then press ENTER t
return t the Verse Reference screen and finish typing the Chapter and Verse.
Note: F r B ks that begin with numbers, type the R man numeral using the I key.
F r example, y u can find 2 Kings by typing IIK. That is, type “I” f r 1r “II” f r 2.
Once the B k title is filled in, the curs r aut matically jumps t the Chapter field.
3. Type a Chapter and Verse number.
Press Q-Pt type a Chapter number. Press SPACE t m ve t the Verse field and
type the Verse number y u want. Note: Numbers are aut matically active in the
Chapter and Verse fields.

Y u can type up t 35 letters. T type a space, press SPACE. T erase a letter,
press BACK.

3. Press ENTER t start the search.

Finding Letters in Words
If y u are uncertain ab ut h w t spell a w rd r if y u wish t find prefixes, suffixes, and

m re letters in a w rd. Note: If y u type an asterisk at the beginning f a w rd, it may take

Setting Home Time
1. Press ORG.

3. Press ENTER t select Set Time Format.
Press r t cycle thr ugh the 12- and 24-h ur Day/M nth/Year f rmats. Press

4. Press t highlight Set DST (Daylight Saving Time) and press ENTER t select it.

5. Press t highlight Set Time and press ENTER t select it.
Press r until the current h ur is displayed. Press t m ve t the minutes field,
then press r until the current minute is displayed. Press ENTER t set the time.
6. Press t highlight Set Date and press ENTER t select it.

7. Press t highlight Set Home City and press ENTER t select it.

Viewing Wor d Time
1. Press FIND until y u see “W rld City.”

Note: The date and time in each W rld city is based n the date and time as indicated in

Y u can st re as many as 100 names and teleph ne numbers in the databank. The t tal
number f names y u can add depends n the size f each entry.
1. Press ORG.
2. Press MARK.
3. Use r t highlight New Entry and then press ENTER.
4. Type a name and press ENTER.
T erase a letter, press BACK. Press SPACE then r t cycle thr ugh the available

5. Type a ph ne number and press ENTER.
Q-Pwill type numbers 0-9aut matically. T erase a number, press BACK.
6. Press CLEAR when d ne.

Viewing or Editing Entries
1. Press ORG.
2. Press MARK.
3. Use r t highlight View: XX entries and then press ENTER.
4. T edit an entry, highlight it and press ENTER.

5. Press ENTER t m ve t the number field.
6. Press ENTER again t save y ur changes.
7. Press CLEAR when d ne.

Using a Password
Y u can use a passw rd t prevent unauth rized access t the databank. Warning! Always write
the passw rd in a safe, separate l cati n. If y u l se r f rget the passw rd, y u will be able t
use the databank again nly by rem ving the batteries fr m y ur unit, which will permanently
erase all the inf rmati n st red in the databank.
1. Press ORG.
2. Press MARK.
3. Use r t highlight Set Password and then press ENTER.
4. Type a passw rd f up t eight characters and press ENTER.
Use r t m ve the curs r; use BACK t delete.
5. Press Ct c nfirm y ur passw rd r CLEAR t cancel the passw rd.
The passw rd y u set will be requested the first time the databank is used during a
sessi n.
6. T change the passw rd, repeat Steps 1-5.
T rem ve r disable a passw rd, press ENTER at the blank passw rd screen.
7. Press CLEAR when d ne.

subtract the number n the screen fr m the number st red in mem ry, press C(M-).

3. T retrieve the number fr m mem ry, press V(MR).
4. T clear the mem ry, press B(MC).

Resetting Your Device
If the keyb ard fails t resp nd, r if the screen perf rms erratically, perf rm a system reset by
f ll wing the steps bel w.
1. H ld CLEAR and press .
If n thing happens, try Step 2.
2. Use a paper clip t gently press the reset butt n n y ur pr duct.
The reset butt n is recessed in a pin-sized h le n the back f the device.
The message “Erase All ? (Y/N)” is displayed.
Note: This message refers t user-entered inf rmati n, n t the text f the H ly Bible.
User-entered inf rmati n includes b kmarks, the databank and any settings y u may
have changed.
3. Press Nt save y ur inf rmati n.
Press Yt erase y ur inf rmati n.
