Before first use
Carefully remove the tool from its packaging and check that the below
contents are included:
•Shear with grass blades (assembled)
•Trimming blade
•Blade guard (for both blades)
•Battery charger
The battery charger should be fully charged before using for the first time. The
charging time is about 3-5 hours.
Charging the battery
Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating
plate of the battery charger.
1. Connect the charger to the charging socket (7) at the rear of the
handle grip (1).
2. Plug the battery charger in a power socket. The red LED will come on
to indicate that charging is underway.
3. The temperature of the battery may rise slightly during the charging
operation. This is normal.
4. As soon as battery is fully charged, the red LED will turn off.
If the LED light does not come on or the battery fails to charge, check
whether there is voltage at the socket.
Regular recharging of the battery is advised to maintain full power of the
shears. Recharging is necessary when you notice a drop in the tool’s
performance.
Never allow the battery to become fully discharged. This may cause a fault
to develop.
Instructions for use
This product is intended for light trimming of garden hedges, shrubs and lawn
edges.
1. Push the safety lock-off (5) then depress the on/off switch (6). This will
start the trimming shears.
Please note: when you release the on/off switch it will re-engage the
safety lock-off switch, this is to prevent accidental start-up.
2. Practice with the shears first on small areas until you are more
comfortable.
3. Work in straight rows, keeping the head of the trimmer at the correct
height and not pointing down to the earth.

8
Changing the blade
1. Slide the blade cover (4) away from the main housing.
2. Lift the blade out.
3. Fit the new blade by aligning the holes in the blade onto the drive pins.
4. When re-fitting the blade cover, ensure all 4 legs are inside the housing
before sliding the cover into place.
5. Slide the blade cover on towards the blade.
Care and maintenance
Before each use check the trimming shears for any obvious defects such as
loose, worn or damaged parts.
Do not use the trimming shears if there is any sign of damage.
Check the outer sections of the body for any damage and if present get a
qualified person to replace.
Carry out the following maintenance and cleaning work regularly:
•Every time you use the trimming shears clean all parts especially the
blades. Remove any moisture, debris or dust and store in a clean dry
environment.
•Do not use or submerge the trimming shears in water or use cleaning
agents or solvents, these may damage the trimming shears.
•Do not try to service the trimming shears yourself, always take it to a
qualified repair person.
•We recommend using a small amount of lubricating oil, periodically, to
keep your blades in a good condition.
To purchase lubricating oil please contact our dedicated customer service
team on 0871 911 7031 and quote the code D8211. Alternatively, you can

Li-Ion battery care & maintenance
Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries require routine maintenance and care in
their use and handling. Read and follow the guidelines to safely use Lithium-
Ion batteries and achieve the maximum battery life span.
•Do not leave batteries unused for extended periods of time, either in
the machine or in storage. When a battery has been unused for 3
months or more, check the charge status and charge or dispose of the
battery as appropriate.

9
•The typical estimated life of a Lithium-Ion battery is about two years or
300 charge cycles, whichever occurs first. One charge cycle is a period
of use from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged
again.
•Rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries have a limited life and will
gradually lose their capacity to hold a charge. This loss of capacity
(aging) is irreversible. As the battery loses capacity, the length of time it
will power the product (run time) decreases.
•Lithium-Ion batteries continue to slowly discharge (self-discharge) when
not in use or while in storage. Routinely check the battery’s charge
status.
•Carefully monitor batteries that are approaching the end of their
estimated life.
•Consider replacing the battery with a new one if you note either of the
following conditions:
The battery run time drops below about 60% of the original run
time.
The battery charge time increases significantly.
•If a battery is stored or otherwise unused for an extended period, follow
the storage instructions. If damaged, do not attempt to recharge it or
to use it. Replace it with a new battery.
Storage
•Charge or discharge the battery to approximately 50% of capacity
before storage.
•Charge the battery to approximately 50% of capacity at least once
every six months.
•Remove the battery and store it separately from the product.
•Store the battery at temperatures between 5°C and 20°C (41°F and
68°F).
Please note: Higher temperatures (above 20°C or 68°F) reduce the battery
storage life.
