5.1. Connecting the String
Trimmer – cable lock /
extension cable (ill. A)
Loop the extension cable 1
and insert it into the cable lock 2
on the casing and secure by turn-
ing the holder 3. The cable lock
prevents unintentional disconnec-
tion of the electricity.
To switch on, depress the push-
button 4on the handle 5.
Make sure that the cutting head
is not on the ground when switch-
ing on your String Trimmer.
The String Trimmer will switch
off as soon as the push-button
is released.
AThe safety devices instal-
led by the manufacturer
must not be removed or by-
passed, e.g. by binding the
on/off switch to the handle or
using the String Trimmer with-
out safety cover. This will
prevent the trimmer switching
off automatically, and may
cause serious injury.
Attention! The trimming string
will take a while to stop running
after the unit is switched off.
5.2. Working position (ill. A/A3)
Ensure that you have a secure
foothold when working. Put the
shoulder strap diagonally around
your shoulders. Hold your String
Trimmer with one hand on the
additional handle 7and with the
other on the guide handle 5.
5.3. Automatic string lengthen-
ing procedure with the motor
running (ill. A/B)
Wear on the cord depends on
the individual job. When cutting
performance noticeably reduces,
filament feed is necessary. A
clean cut will only be achieved
with the maximum cord length.
Tap your String Trimmer sharply
on the ground. Avoid sustained
depression. Ensure that the
cutting head 9is parallel to
ground. The string will automatic-
ally lengthen. Listen for an audible
switching action. If the strings are
too short, the String Trimmer
must be touched onto the ground
several times to ensure they ex-
tend to their optimum length. If the
strings are too long, they will be
automatically adjusted to the cor-
rect length by the string limiter
blade 0.
5.4. Manual string lengthening
(ill. C)
1. Disconnect the mains plug!
2. Depress the release (cutting
head cover) 9and manually
pull out strings until it stops.
If necessary, repeat the action
until the strings slightly project
over the edge of the cover.
While the String Trimmer is
being operated, the string length
is adjusted automatically as de-
scribed under “Automatic string
lengthening”.
ABe careful with the cut-
ting blade/string limiter 0
whilst lengthening the string
by hand. Risk of injury!
