BEFORE YOU BEGIN
PARTS CHECKLIST
Make sure your package includes the following items:
MODULAR JACK REQUIREMENTS
You need an RJ11 type modular jack, which is the most
common type of phone jack and might look like the one
pictured here. If you don't have a modular jack, call your
local phone company to find out how to get one installed.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Disconnect the phone cord from the wall outlet before
installing or replacing the batteries.
IMPORTANTINSTALLATIONINFORMATION
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals, unless
the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is
specifically designed for wet locations.
INSTALLINGTHE BATTERIES
IMPORTANT: You will have approximately 90 seconds to replace the
batteries before the memories stored in the handset are lost. Please read the
instructions before replacing the batteries and have the batteries ready to be
inserted beforehand. As a precaution, you may want to write down any
stored information you do not want erased.
Your Caller ID phone uses 4 AA-size alkaline batteries for receiving and
storing Caller ID records and for the numbers you use for memory
dialing. Batteries not included.
1.If both the straight and coiled line cords are already connected,
disconnect them from the base unit. Place the handset off to the side.
2.Slide the battery doors in the direction of the arrows.
3.Insert 4 AA-size alkaline batteries as shown on the diagram in the
battery compartments. Two batteries will be inserted for each
compartment.
4.Replace the battery compartment doors securely.
5.If the cords were previously connected, re-attach the line cords to the
unit and check your memory locations.
IMPORTANT: Batteries must be installed for the Caller ID to operate.
If you're not going to use the telephone for more than 30 days, remove
the batteries because they can leak and damage the unit.
DESKTOPINSTALLATION
1.Plug the coiled cord into the handset, and plug the other end into the
jack on the left side of the base.
2.Plug the straight line cord into jack on the bottom of the base, and
plug the other end into a modular phone jack.
3.Set the RINGER switch on the base to the desired position.
= Sound will be loudest.
= Sound will be lower.
= Telephone will not ring.
WALL MOUNTINSTALLATION
1.Plugthelinecordintothejackonthebottomof the base, and plug
theotherend to a modular phone jack.
2.Feed the line cord through the grooves provided on the bottom
of the base so that the base area is flat and ready to mount on the wall.
3.Slip the mounting holes of the base (on bottom of unit) over the wall
plate posts and slide the base down until the phone is firmly in place.
4.Plug the coiled cord into the handset, and plug the other end into the
jack on the left side of the base.
5.Set the RINGER switch on the base to the desired position.
= Sound will be loudest.
= Sound will be lower.
= Telephone will not ring.
4.Place the handset in the base.
SAUDI ARABIA CALLER ID SETTING
If you subscrible the caller ID service in SAUDI ARABIA, you must
make a setting before using:
1. Pick up the handset.
2. Press options button.
3. Press 1,2,3,4,5,6 button.
4. Press STORE button.
5. Put down the handset into the cradle.
"SAUDI ARABIA" will display in the screen for 2s to indicate the
setting is sucessful.
Repeat item 1 to 5 to exit the "SAUDI ARABIA"option. "EXIT S.
ARABIA" will display in the screen for 2s to indicate SAUDI
ARABIA setting is exiting.
NOTE: 1-5 operation should be finished within 10s or the setting
will be invalid.
SETTING THE CID DISPLAY LANGUAGE
This adjustment changes the Caller ID messages to be displayed in
English, French or Spanish.
1.Press the options button. SET OR appears in the display.
2.Press the review up button until CID LANGUAGE appears in the
display.
3.Press the options button to show the current language setting.
The default is English.
4.Press review up or down to change the language.
5.Press options to store the language and return to the CID
LANGUAGE display.
SETTING THE DIALING MODE
This adjustment allows you to select tone (touch-tone) or pulse
(rotary) dialing.
1.Press the options button until SET OR appears.
2.Press the review up or down button until T/P DIAL MODE
appears in the display.
3.Press the options button to show the current dial mode. The
default is set to tone.
4.To change the dialing mode, press review up or down. The display
will alternate between the two dialing modes.
5.Press the options button to store the dialing mode and return to
the T/P DIAL MODE display.
SETTING THE CONTRAST
This adjustment allows you to adjust the contrast and viewing angle
of the display.
1.Press the options button, SET OR appears in the display.
2.Press the review up or down button until SELECT CONTRAST
appears in the display.
3.Press the options button to show the current contrast setting.
There are 5 levels of contrast, with the default set to 3.
4.To decrease the contrast, press review down. To increase the
contrast, press review up.
5.Press the options button to store the contrast setting and return
to the SELECT CONTRAST display.
EXITING SETUP
NOTE: The phone exits Setup after 15 seconds if no buttons are pressed.
REMINDER: The time and date are programmed automatically when the
first Caller ID record with date and time is successfully received after the
unit is setup.
When the "SET OR " appears in the display, press the
"options" button.
SETTING THE TIME
In some area, the real time will not be updated by CID data. The
real time clock can be set manually in set up manual.
1.Press the options button. SET OR appears.
2.Press either review ( or ) button until Set Time appears.
3.To enter and change the Real Time press the options button.
The current display time will be flashing
4.Press review to adjust and review to next item
5.Press options button again to store the setting

available at most Electronics Specialty Stores or Department Stores.
INTRODUCTION
Your Caller ID phone stores and displays specific information,
provided by your local telephone company, to subscribers of Caller
ID or similar caller identification services. Your Caller ID phone
enables you to:
Identify callers before you answer the phone.
View the time and date of each incoming call.
Record up to 64 Caller ID messages sequentially.
Know who called while you were away.
To get the most from your new phone, we suggest that you take
a few minutes right now to read through this user's guide.
IMPORTANT: In order to use all the features of this unit, you must subscribe
to the standard Name/Number Caller ID Service.
SETTING UP THE CALLER ID MENU
You should not plug the telephone into the modular jack while
setting up the Caller ID menu. An incoming call may invalidate your
selection if it was not yet saved.
1. Press the options button. SET OR appears in the display.
2.At this point you can press either REVIEW up or down button to
scroll among the5 menu screens, which are:
SET OR
CID LANGUAGE (default English)
SET TIME
T/P DIAL MODE (default tone)
SELECT CONTRAST (default 3)
3.You have 10 seconds following any key press before the phone
automatically return to the NO CALLS summary screen, or you
can press flash to exit during set up.
CALLER ID FEATURES 4 seconds.
1.Press the STORE button.
2.Press the REDIAL button.
3.Press 1-9 (1=1 second, 2=2 seconds, etc.)
4.Press STORE again to confirm.
DIALING FREQUENTLY CALLED
NUMBERS
1.Pick up the handset and press the MEM button.
2.Press 0–9 for the memory location. The number
dials automatically.
NODISPLAY
Replace batteries.
Check for proper battery installation.
NODATA IS SHOWN AFTER THE PHONE RINGS
Did you order Caller ID service from your local telephone company?
This unit requires that you subscribe to Caller ID service in order to
work.
Be sure to wait until the second ring before answering.
PHONE DOES NOT DIAL OUT
Check the dial mode in the setup menu. Is it set to tone, which
may not be compatible with your local dialing service?
PHONE DOES NOT RING
Is the ringer switch in the OFF position?
Are you using too many phones on one line?
Perform the checks under the first problem (Number 1). Is the
hook switch depressed fully when handset is in cradle?
INCOMING AND OUTGOING VOICE VOLUME LOW
Are other phones off hook at same time? If so, this is normal
condition as volume drops when additional phones are used at
once.
TONE FEEDBACK FLUTTER WHEN DIALING IN
PULSE MODE
This is normal as power is fluctuating with phone outpulsing.
COPY CALLER ID MEMORY TO USER MEMORY
1.Pickup the handset.
2.Press the review ( or ) button to display the number you want
to copy.
3.Press the store button.
4.Press 0-9 for the memory location. The display flashes if the
memory location is occupied. Press either review ( or ) button
to select an empty location. The number is automatically stored
to the empty location.
5. Press the hook switch to exit.
COPY REDIAL MEMORY TO USER MEMORY
1.Press REDIAL when holding the hookswitch.
2.Press STORE.
3.Press 0-9, for the memory location. The display will flash
if the memory location is occupied. Press review ( or ) to
select a different location. Press FLASH or the hook switch to exit.
STORING A PAUSE IN MEMORY
The Summary Screen shows the current time, date, and number of
new calls to review. It is displayed until the review or options
buttons are pressed or a Caller ID record is received. Within 20
seconds of receiving a new call, the Summary Screen is displayed.
SUMMARY SCREEN
NOTE: The number of new calls is displayed until all new calls have
been reviewed.
RECEIVING AND STORING CALLS
This unit receives and displays information transmitted by your local
phone company. This information can include the phone number,
date, and time; or the name, phone number, date, and time. The
unit can store up to 64 calls for later review. When the memory is
full, a new call automatically replaces the oldest call in memory.
NEW CALL appears in the display for calls received that have not
been reviewed.
REVIEWING CALL RECORDS
Press the reviw" " button to scroll through the call
records from the most recent to the oldest.
Press the review" " button to scroll through the call
records from the oldest to the newest.
When all of the messages have been viewed, START/END
appears in the display.
DELETING CALL RECORDS
To delete the record shown in the display, press thedelete
button once.
To delete all records while reviewing, press and hold thedelete
button for about 3 seconds. ERASE ALL? appears in the display.
Press ERASE again to complete.
DIALING BACK
When reviewing Caller ID records, you can dialback the numbers
shown on the display by pressing the DIAL button.
1. Use either review(o r ) button to display the number you
want to dial.
2. Press the d ial button and the display shows PICKUP OR ADJUST,
10 second timer will appear in the upper right concer of the display,
and count down time until returns to the idle model.
3. Press the dial button to adjust the number, each times you press
dial button, one digit can be adjusted, only the first four digits can
be adjusted. The timer will reset after each adjustment.
4. Pick up the handset before the time reaches 0, DIALING shows in
the display and the number is dialed.
The following special messages indicate the status of a message or the
unit:
NO CALLS The caller memory is empty.
UNKNOWN CALLER The incoming call does not have Caller ID service
or their service area is not linked to yours. If
UNKNOWN NAME appears along with a calling
number, the name information for that number
was not available.
BLOCKED CALL The caller of the incoming call is registered as
"private Number" and their Caller ID information is
withheld.
START/END You are at the beginning or the end of the Caller
ID memory log.
Battery power level is low.
LOWLOW
TEMPORARY TONE DIALING
If you have pulse service, you can temporarily change from pulse to
tone service. After dialing the telephone number, press and release the
*button on the telephone. After a brief pause, the phone will dial the
tone digits. This allows access to phone services that require a tone,
such as banking and long-distance services. After you hang up the
handset, the telephone automatically returns to pulse service.
TELEPHONE BASICS
1.Be sure the RINGER switch is set to the HI or LOW position.
2.When the phone rings and the caller's information shows on the
display, lift the handset and begin your conversation.
3.You can adjust the volume of the caller's voice by sliding the Receiver
volume switch.
4.Set the RINGER switch to the OFF position when you do not want to
be interrupted by the phone ringing.

PLACING A PHONE CALL
1.Lift the handset and wait for a dial tone.
2.Dial the telephone number you wish to call.
3.You can adjust the volume of the caller's voice by sliding the Receiver
volume switch.

VOLUME CONTROL
This feature allows you to increase the listening volume in the receiver
of the handset when speaking with your party. When needed, slide the
Receiver volume switch.
REDIAL A NUMBER
If you want to call the last number you dialed again (up to 32 digits),
use the redial feature.
1. Press redial button when holding the hook switch.
2. Use review ( or )button to scroll the dialed out telephone number
(total less than 10).
3. Release hook switch and the number can be dialed out automatically.
PRE-DIAL FUNCTION
You can key-in the number when holding the hookswitch.This number
can be dial-out automatically when releasing the hookswitch.
Press delete or FLASH button will delete the number for re-entry.
FLASH
This feature is used to activate customer calling services available
through your local phone company, such as Call Waiting. These
services generally require an extra monthly fee. If you subscribe to
any of these services, please refer to the phone company's
instructions on how to use FLASH.
Flash timing can also be adjusted from 100ms, 200ms, to 900ms.
The default setting is 600ms.
1.Press the STORE button.
2.Press the FLASH button.
3.Press 1-9 (1=100ms, 2=200ms, etc.)
4.Press the STORE button again to confirm.
MEMORY
Before you store any telephone number into memory, make sure the
dial mode is correct for the type of telephone you're using. The
default dial mode is tone (touchtone), so if you have pulse (rotary)
service, you must first change the dial mode.
The following buttons can be stored into any memory location: 0-9,
*, # and PAUSE (REDIAL). See "Storing a Pause in Memory" and
"Temporary Tone Dialing".
STORING MEMORY DIAL NUMBERS
1.Press the STORE button. MO-M9,appears in the display.
REVIEWING NUMBERS STORED IN MEMORY
DIALING FREQUENTLY CALLED NUMBERS
1. Pick up the handset and press the mem button.
2. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The number dials automatically.
ERASING A STORED NUMBER
1.Press STORE to go to review mode.
2.Press and hold the delete button for 3 seconds.
The memory location will be cleared.
1.Press the store button.
2.Press 0-9 for the memory location. The number shows on the display.
The REDIAL button has dual functionality and becomes a PAUSE
button when the STORE button is pressed first. It is valid only when
storing a number into memory locations. Use the PAUSE (REDIAL)
button to insert a pause when a delay is needed in an automatic
dialing sequence. For example, when you must dial a 9 to get an
outside line or when you enter codes to access your long distance
company. You may need to adjust the length of the pause duration.
It can be adjusted from 1 to 9 seconds. The default setting is
NOTE: IF PICKUP PHONE appears in the display, no other changes to the number
can be made. The information sent from the telephone company is known to be a valid
number for dialing back, but the number length is shorter than 6(utilized only in very
limited areas). Once you pickup the phone the number will be automatically dialed.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
1.Pick up the handset.
2.Press mem button, then press dial key "6" for the memory location.
3.Until the mem "6" dialing is completed, press mem button, then
press dial key "7" for the memory location.
4.Until the mem "7" dialing is completed, press mem button, then
press dial key "8" for the memory location.
5.And so on until all numbers dialed out.
USING CASCADE
CASCADE DIALING
This process allows you to dial a succession of stored numbers
from separate memory locations. This is useful when you must
dial several sequences of numbers, such as with frequent calls
via a telephone company long distance provider.
For example

NODIAL TONE
Check all cabling to make sure that all connections are secure and
not damaged.
Check hook switch: Does it fully extend when handset is lifted
from cradle?
2.Press the desired memory location button (0 through 9)
or use the or arrow buttons to scroll to the desired memory
location. If the memory location is occupied, the memory
location and stored name and number appear on the screen. If the
memory location is empty, the memory location (MO-M9)
appears in the display.
3. Press the STORE button again. A cursor will flash on the number
line.
4.Use the keypad to enter the telephone number (up to 32 digits). If
you make a mistake, use the delete button to delete wrong digits.
5.Press STORE button again to save the number. The cursor will flash
on the name line.
6. Use the keypad to store a name (up to 13 characters). More than
one letter is stored in each of the number keys. For example, to
enter Bill Smith, press the 2 key twice for the letter B. Press the 4
key 3 times for the letter I. Press the 5 key 3 times for the letter
L and either press the button to advance the flashing cursor
to the next entry point, or wait 2 seconds until the flashing cursor
automatically moves to the next entry point. Press the 5 key 3
times for the second letter L, and either press the 2 times to
advance the flashing cursor to the next entry point or wait 2
seconds until the flashing cursor automatically moves to the next
entry point. Press the 7 key 4 times for the letter S; press the 6
key once for the letter M; press the 4 key 3 times for the letter I;
press the 8 key for the letter T; press the 4 key twice for the
letter H.
7.Press the STORE button again to save the name.
8.To enter another name and number in a different memory location,
wait 15 seconds and return to step 1 and repeat the process.
