BEFORE YOU BEGIN
PARTS CHECKLIST
Makesureyourpackage includes theitems:
BaseCordedHandset
Telephone Line Cord Handset Coiled Cord
1.Plugthe coiled cord intothecordedhandsetand thebase.
2. Plug thetelephone line cord into the modular jackand
intotheTEL. LINEjack on the back ofthebase.
3.Liftup the handset andthenputdown the handset on
thecradle.
NOTE: Thephoneautomaticallydefaultstotouch-tonedialing.
Tochangetopulse(rotary)dialing, see"Tone/Pulse Dialing". If
you don't know which type ofserviceyou have,check withthe
phone company.

SET UP
TONE/PULSE DIALING SELECTION
MoveT/P switchin the bottom to set dialingmode. (T: tone
orP: pulse.)
Under pulse dialing mode, press *”button to get tone dial-
ingmodetemporarily.
NOTE: The phone isshipped inTone Dialing Mode from
themanufacturer.
FLASH TIME SETTING
Move FLASHswitchin thebottom to set FLASH timing.
(100ms/300ms/600ms.)(Default at 600ms)
RINGER LEVELSETTING
Therearetotal3ringlevels.(HI/MID/LO)
Movering volumeswitch inthebackof thebaseto set
Ringerlevel.(Default at HI)
SPEAKER VOLUME CONTROL
Thereare total 3speaker volume levels. (HI/MID/LO)
youcan adjustthevolume ofthe speakerbyusingthe
SpeakerVolumeControlat the sideof the baseunit.
(Default atHI)
PHONE BASICS
INUSE INDICATOR
The IN USE”indicator will light upwhen the phone is on
theline.
SPEAKER INDICATOR
The SPEAKER indicatorwilllight upwhenthespeaker is
activated.
FUNCTION KEYAND SWITCH
MODULAR JACK REQUIREMENTS
You needan RJ11type modularphone jack, which is the
most common type ofphone jack. Ifyoudon’thave a
modularjack,call your local phonecompanyto find out
howto get one installed.

STORING ANUMBER INMEMORY
DIRECT MEMORIES
TostoreanumberinM1-M3.
1.Pickupthe handset,press STORE”button.
2.Usethe number keypad toenter thetelephone number
you want to store (up to 16 digits).
3. Press STORE”button again.
4. Press aONE-TOUCHMEMORYbutton(M1-M3).
5.Putback handsetoncradle.
Todialanumber storedinM1-M3.
1.Press SPEAKER”button or pickup the handset.
2.PressaONE-TOUCHMEMORYbutton(M1-M3)
TWO TOUCH MEMORIES
Tostore a number in a Two-touch memory(0-9)
1.Pick up the handsetandpress the STOREbutton;
2.Keyinthetelephonenumbertobestored.
3. Pressthe STORE”button;
4. Using thedialingkeypad,press anybuttonbetween0-
9to enterthememorylocation.
5.Putback handsetoncradle.
To dial a number stored in Two-touch memory(0-9)
1. Pickupthe handset or press speakerphone”button;
2. Press the DIAL”button.
3. Keyin the memorylocation number(0-9);
4.The numberwill bedialed.
CHANGING ASTORED NUMBER
Usethesame procedure to change a stored numberas
youstore a numbertheyou’rejustreplacingthephone
number with adifferent one.
Thenewnumber replacesthe old number at the memory
location.
GENERAL PRODUCT CARE
Tokeepyourtelephoneworkingandlooking good,follow
these guidelines:
DONOTexposetodirectsunlight ormoisture.
Avoid droppingand other rough treatment to the phone.
Cleanwithasoft cloth.
Neveruse astrong cleaningagentor abrasivepowder
becausethis will damage the finish.
Retaintheoriginalpackagingin caseyouneed toship the
phone at alaterdate.

NodialtoneCheckinstallation:
Isthetelephonelinecordconnected
to thebaseunit andthewall jack?
Disconnect the base from the wall
jackandconnect anotherphoneto
thesame jack. If thereisnodial
tone in thesecond phone,the prob-
lemmightbe your wiring or local
service.
Dial tone is OK,Make sure the tone/pulse setting
butcan'tdialoutis correct.
DoesnotringTry tosetthe Ringertoahigherlevel.
Youmayhavetoomanyextension
phones onyour line. Tryunplugging
some phones.

RECEIVINGACALL
1.Press the SPEAKER”button orpickupthehandset to
answerthe phone.
2.Press the SPEAKER”button againorputthe handset
on cradle to hang up.
MAKING ACALL
To makeacall, press the SPEAKER”buttonor pickup
the handset before youdialandpress SPEAKER”button
again or put the handseton cradle tohangup.
REDIAL
Torepeat acall tothelast number you dialled(upto32 digit)
1. Press "SPEAKER" button or pick up the handset togeta
dialling tone.
2.Press"REDIAL"buttontodialthe lastnumberredial.
PAUSE
Pressthe PAUSE”button when you dial the telephone
number, duing the phone dialing the phone shall pause for
2-4second.
FLASH
Usethe FLASH”button to activatecustomcalling
services suchas calltransfer,which are available
throughyourlocal telephone company.
Don’tuse SPEAKER”buttonto activatecustom calling
services, or you’ll hang up the phone.
MUTE
Topreventthe person you are speaking from hearing you
while on a call.
Press and hold MUTE”button.
VISUAL MESSAGE WAITING INDICATOR
Whenyouconnectthephoneto anAlcatelPABX,the
VMWI willblink ifthere hasa messagein the centralized
voicemailsystem.Youneedtocontactyourservices
providerfor more details.
MEMORY
Thephone has threeone-touch memories,M1 toM3and
ten two-touch memories, 0to 9.Each memorylocation
canhaveupto16 digits. You can storepart ofanumber
(e.g.the dialling code) inmemory, thenuse a combina-
tion of memoryand manualdialling, in anyorder,to make
acall.
Warning: If the phoneisdisconnected fromthetelephone
line,anystorednumbers whilebelostwithin
1.5hour.If you wanttochange anumber storedina memory,
simply storeanother oneoverit.
pleaseignore any tonesor recorded messagesyou mayhear
fromthe network will you arestoring number.
