away from the work area.

Introduction
The ex•tend•it Firewire Extender allows Firewire devices to be extend-
ed up to 1640 feet using fiber optics cables. One of the Firewire
Extender units is connected directly to the computer with the supplied
Firewire cable. A fiber optics cable is used to connect one Firewire
Extender unit to an other Firewire Extender unit. The Firewire Extender
keeps your desk clutter-free, allowing the relocation of your computer to
a safe and secure area, while allowing you to work in a quieter envi-
ronment.
Warranty
Gefen Inc. warrants the equipment it manufactures to be free from defects
in material and workmanship. If equipment fails because of such defects
and Gefen Inc. is notified within one (1) year from the date of shipment,
Gefen Inc. will, at its option, repair or replace the equipment, provided
that the equipment has not been subjected to mechanical, electrical, or
other abuse or modifications. Equipment that fails under conditions other
than those covered will be repaired at the current price of parts and
labor in effect at the time of the repair. Such repairs are warranted for
ninety (90) days from the day of re-shipment to the Buyer.
This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied,
including without limitation, any implied warranty or merchantability or
fitness for any particular purpose, all of which are expressly disclaimed.
The information in this manual has been carefully checked and is
believed to be accurate. However, Gefen Inc. assumes no responsibility for
any inaccuracies that may be contained in this manual. In no event will
Gefen Inc. be liable for direct, indirect, special incidental, or consequential
damages resulting from any defect or omission in this manual, even if

How to Connect the Firewire Extender
11--Connect the supplied Firewire cables from the computers Firewire
port into one of Firewire Extender unit.
(Either unit will work as a sender or a receiver.)
22--Connect the fiber optics cable from one Firewire Extender unit to the
other Firewire Extender unit.
33--Connect your Firewire devices into the Firewire Extender in the
remote location.
44--Plug the 15 volt power supply into the Firewire Extender unit at the
remote location only.
55--Restart your computer only after you’ve made all the connections.
