Forehead and Ear Thermometer

Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Dual-Mode Digital Forehead and Ear Infrared
Thermometer, or Dual-Mode Infrared Thermometer for short.
The Dual-Mode Infrared Thermometer GM-400EF can be used to read
body temperatures by measuring the ear and forehead temperature. The
device is suitable for adults and children (the ear test mode only for
children above 3 months).
Please read the instructions carefully before using the product, and put it
in a safe and secure place for reference.

For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the
recommended separation distance d in metres (m) can be estimated using the
equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter, where P is the maximum
output power rating of the transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter
manufacturer.
NOTE 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the higher frequency
range applies.
NOTE 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic
propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and
people.

NOTE 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies. NOTE
2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic is
affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.
a. Field strengths from
fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio
(cellular/cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radio, AM and FM
radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy.
To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an
electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in
the location in which the GM-400EF Infrared Thermometer is used exceeds the
applicable RF compliance level above, the GM-400EF Infrared Thermometer should
be observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed,
additional measures may be necessary, such as re-orienting or relocating the
GM-400EF Infrared Thermometer.
b. Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be less than
3 V/m.

1. The advantages of infrared thermometer GM-400EF
Multiple use (measurement of forehead and ear temperature)
Thanks to its dual-mode design, you are free to take body temperature
by detecting the infrared heat given off by the forehead, which is from
32℃ to 42.2℃(from 89.6℉ to 107.9℉) , and by the eardrum, which is
from 0℃ to 100.0℃(from 32.0℉ to 212.0℉).
The product consists of ABS plastics, temperature sensor, infrared
temperature measuring element, microcomputer controlled circuit, LCD,
backlight and buzzer.
Convenient for use
● Special ergonomic design to facilitate operation.
● No inconvenience would be caused to your daily life. It’s available for
measurement when your child’s sleeping.
● It provides comfortable user experience (compared to anal
thermometer for children) and rapid reading and simple operation
(compared to mouth thermometer).
Memory recall
A maximum of 20 previous readings is available to help you track the
changes of your body temperature.
Safe and hygienic
● Compared to mercury thermometer, there is no danger of breaking the
glass or swallowing mercury.
● It is totally safe for children to use.
Fever warning
When the reading exceeds 37.5℃/99.5℉, this product shall warn the
user that he/she may have a fever by 7 rapid and short rings with LCD
flicker. (For normal forehead temperature, the signal is long ring with LCD
no flicker)
Extensive clinical data of hospital
The cooperation with designated hospitals is subjected to precise clinical
verification, with the support of extensive clinical data and professional
medical experts.
Application scope
The thermometer takes human body temperature for clinical or
household use. It applies to all age groups and those who are suffering
from a fever.

4.How to measure the forehead temperature
Position the probe just above the middle
of the eyebrows, keep in contact, and
press the head button momentarily to
take a reading. The temperature will be
displayed on the LCD screen. Once the
back light turns off, you can retake the
temperature if you wish. If you are not
happy with the reading, simply repeat
the process, ensuring you position the
probe between the eyebrows.
Once the reading has been completed, remove the thermometer away
from the forehead and observe the temperature.
5.How to measure the ear temperature
Take off the probe cover; insert the sensor into the ear canal. Then press
the EAR button when the thermometer is off, the temperature reading is
shown on the LCD display. You can take another measurement when
the backlight is off.
Note:
Children under 1 year: Pull the ear straight back.
Children aged 1 year to adult: Pull the ear up and back.
In order to avoid the inaccuracy:
(1) Please make sure that there is no dirt on the temperature sensor.
(2) Please make sure that the device is only used indoor, and there is no
strong wind.
(3) If the eyebrow area is covered with hair, sweat or dirt, please clean
the area beforehand to improve the reading accuracy..
(4) Before you measure the ear temperature, please make sure that the
ear is clean, with no earwax or obstructions.
(5) Please make sure that there is no intense emotion and movement

before measuring.
(6) If GM-400EF is transferred from one condition to another with a
different ambient temperature, it is suggested to leave it for more than 30
minutes, and please follow the rule (2).
(7) If the tester moves from one condition to another with a different
ambient temperature, it is suggested to have a rest for more than 10
minutes, and please follow the rule (2).
