Safety Notes
Read these safety notes carefully before using this product to ensure that you
operate the equipment safely.
Your GERA product and recommended supplies have been designed and tested
to meet strict safety requirements. These include safety agency approval, and
compliance with established environmental standards. Please read the
following instructions carefully before operating the product and refer to them
as needed to ensure the continued safe operation of your product.
The safety and environment testing and performance of this product have been
verified using GERA materials only.
WARNING: Any unauthorized alteration, which may include the addition
of new functions or connection of external devices, may
affect the product certification. Please contact your
Authorized Local Dealer for more information.
Warning Markings
All warning instructions marked on or supplied with the product should be
followed.

Electrical Supply
This product shall be operated from the type of electrical supply indicated on
the product's data plate label.
If you are not sure that your electrical supply meets the requirements, please
consult your local power company for advice.
WARNING: This product must be connected to a protective grounded
circuit.
This product is supplied with a plug that has a protective grounding pin. This
plug will only fit into a grounded electrical outlet. This is a safety feature.
To avoid risk of electric shock, contact your electrician to replace the
electrical outlet if you are unable to insert the plug into it. Never use a
grounding adapter plug to connect the product to an electrical outlet that lacks
a grounded connection terminal.
Operator Accessible Areas
This equipment has been designed to restrict operator access to safe areas
only. Operator access to hazardous areas is restricted with covers or guards,
which would require a tool to remove. Never remove these covers or guards.
WARNING – Electrical Safety Information
•Use only the power cord supplied with this equipment.
•Plug the power cord directly into a grounded electrical outlet. Do not use
an extension cord. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded, consult a
qualified electrician.
If this machine needs to be moved to a different location, contact a GERA
service representative or your authorized local representative or service
support organization.
•Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in
electrical shock.
•Do not place this equipment where people might step or trip on the power
cord.

•Do not place objects on the power cord.
•Do not override or disable electrical or mechanical interlocks.
•Do not obstruct the ventilation openings.
•Never push objects of any kind into slots or openings on this equipment.
•If any of the following conditions occur, switch off the power to the
machine immediately and disconnect the power cord from the electrical
outlet. Call an authorized local service representative to correct the problem.
−The equipment emits an unusual noise or odour.
−The power cord is damaged or frayed.
−A wall panel circuit breaker, fuse, or other safety device has been
tripped.
−Liquid is spilled into the folder.
−The equipment is exposed to water.
−Any part of the equipment is damaged.
Disconnect Device
The power cable is the disconnect device for this equipment. It is attached to
the back of the machine as a plug-in device. To remove all electrical power
from the equipment, disconnect the power cable from the electrical outlet.
Operational Safety Information
To ensure the continued safe operation of your GERA equipment, follow these
safety guidelines at all times.
Do these:
•Always connect equipment to a correctly grounded power outlet. If in
doubt, have the outlet checked by a qualified electrician.
•This equipment must be connected to a protective grounded circuit.

Do not Do these:
•Never use a plug that lacks a grounded connection terminal to connect the

•Never attempt any maintenance function that is not specifically described in
this documentation.
•This equipment should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper
ventilation is provided. Please contact your Authorized Local Dealer for
further information.
•Never remove covers or guards that are fastened with screws. There are no
operator serviceable areas within these covers.
•Never locate the equipment near a radiator or any other heat source.
•Never push objects of any kind into the ventilation openings.
•Never override or “cheat” any of the electrical or mechanical interlock
devices.
•Never operate the equipment if you notice unusual noises or odors.
Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and contact your local
Service Provider immediately.

Radio Frequency Emissions
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class
A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules and EN 55022 standard
for EMC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection
against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial
environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual,
may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this
equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which
case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense.
Changes and modifications to this equipment not specifically approved by
GERA void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.

This symbol means the need to dispose the product according
to the law in force in the own country.
Before dispose the GERA product, mind that it contains lead
and other materials that could require specific procedures for

General Note
Below are some terms and concepts that help to better understand the operation
of the folder.
Fold package dimension
(a) longitudinal fold section
This is the length of the panel fan folded.

Paper specification
The folder is designed to work with plain paper 18-20lbs (75-90 gsm) If the
quality paper is different from these specifications this leads a poor quality and
increases a folding jams.
All types of paper different from the common must not be folded.
Mylar or polyester film must not enter the folder as they can also cause jams
and damage to the folder itself.
Floor specification
The folder must be installed on a flat and hard floor not on a soft floor as carpet
or linoleum

•For safety precautions, lower the anti-tip
feet until they touch the floor and lower
the brake on the casters to avoid folder

•Due to table weight, it’s necessary to lead
the table carefully until it connects or

Control Panel
User Interface Gerafold 206
The Gerafold 206 control panel contains two buttons and three indicator lights:
Red LED on, by pressing for a long the arrow key it
performs the paper jam ejection, the engine pushes the
paper out from the folding pocket where the sensor is
covered.
Red LED on but by pressing the arrow key it does not
activate the engine movement, this means that paper jam
is located at the folder entry and must removed by pulling
back the copy by hand.
The circular button when pressed during the introduction
or the folding process, stops the engine movement, in case
of failure or red LED On, it operates as a logic reset and
verification status of the folding machine.
The arrow key can be used for changing the panel
dimension or for the paper jam ejection procedure (in case
of red led on)
The Green light indicator shows the number of
millimetres added or removed to the actual 1

The Gerafold 212 control panel contains two buttons and
two indicator lights.
The red light shows a fault as a jam or that the folder is
busy, while the green light show the current folders
program.
The circular button when pressed during the
introduction or the folding process, stops
the movement of the engines, in case of
failure or red LED On, it operates as a reset
of the logic and verification status of the
folding machine.
The arrow key has different functions in the case of:

The Test program P9 , is selected when led 4 is off
Procedure to change feed speed
The feed the paper into the folder straight need attention, for this reason is
possible to customized entry speed to low, mid , high speed.
The folder default setup is mid speed.;
When user requires more time to ensure straight document feed into the
folder it’s possible to lower the speed to 6 meters per minute
When user requires less time to ensure straight document feed into the
folder and need more productivity it’s possible to upper the speed to 12
meters per minute .
Procedure to change feed speed: select program P9 led orange off, then
press and old arrow key over 4 seconds then release, after each pressof
arrow key change the number of green leds on according to below list.
Led green light on means
3 leds on 12m/min
2 leds on 09m/min
1 leds on 06m/min
After the selection pres reset to save and exit. Select a fold program to fold.

How To Fold Document With Binding Margin
1. The metric fold with binding margin programs P5,P6 ,P7 are selected
when led 1.2.3 are blinking green led on

The circular button has 2 functions :
1. Press & Hold for 2 seconds turn on
the folder.
2. Press during the folding process it
stops the engines movement.
At power on the screen displays the default program
to perform the first fold which reduces the length of
the paper in wide panels as the size displayed on the
blue button in the example shown the panel will be
210mm
To make the first fold, press the blue button and view
the various available panel width, the size is
expressed in millimeters. Press the button at the top
right to display other dimensions expressed in inches.
Defined the amplitude of the first fold panel, it need
to select the folding mode of the last panel. The last
panel copy size is random, with the same size of the
first panel or with a compensation fold with last edge
protruding to the left for the archive margin.
Pressing the 2nd Fold icon displays the folding step

First Folding Procedure (Fan Fold)
-Spread the copy face up on the table and align on left hand side
-Ensure that title block on the leading edge.
-The copy must be perfectly aligned to the left to begin the fold process.
Wait that the current folding process is completed before feed
the next copy otherwise the folder will emit a sound
Second Folding Procedure (Cross Fold)
-Ensure that title block is face down
leading edge
-Be sure that the copy is flatted enough
before feeding.
-Feed the copy slowly and ensure that
the introducing sensors are covered
-During cross fold procedure keep copy
flatted to avoid a wrinkles copy folded

Jams removals
Gerafold 206 Errors
When a jam occurs inside the folder, the red LED lit is on and the
folder emits a sound alarm to alert the operator that it’s necessary
to release the folder from jam before continue to fold

Error 0 : Copy length too short < 410mm. Pull back copy and
Reset. Feed copy longer than 410mm
Error 1 : Folder Pocket Sensors covered. Clean folder pockets
by pulling copy from exit or do the Automatic Eject Procedure.
Error 2 : Feed Error, copy lead edge damaged or
curled up. Pull back copy and reset folder logic.
Error 3 : Fold process error, one or more sensors covered.
Press and hold arrow key to activate the Automatic Eject
Procedure
Automatic Eject Procedure
Press the arrow key for 5-10 seconds to get out the copy, the folding rolls
will reject the paper jam.
If the Procedure above does not work it is necessary to perform the manual
procedure.
Warning
1. Most Users do not follow the quick guide reference and introduce plot
lead edge curled or not trimmed 90° degrees, damaged and or miss the
plot feed by pulling media back. This may cause a difficult paper jam
not clearable by user and requires a service call intervention.
2. Automatic jam removal procedure instead to release folder from jam can
increase jam. So users must turn off the folder and try to pull out paper
from entrance. If it not possible then it’s necessary a service call
intervention.

When a paper jam is detected by folder logic, a red LED is lit
on and a sound alarm alerts the operator. Clean paper fold

Automatic Eject Procedure

will actuate to eject the paper jammed.
