1.3 Duty of care of operator
The JRG Coral force limescale conditioning system was designed and built under careful observance
of harmonised standards and other technical specifications.
The system is thus state of the art and allows maximum safety during all operational states.
The security of the system can only be implemented in practice if all necessary measures are taken.
It is the obligation of due diligence of the operating company to plan and to control the execution of
these measures.
In particular, the operating company must ensure that
•the system is used only for its intended purpose (see Chapter Fehler! Verweisquelle
konnte nicht gefunden werden. on page Fehler! Textmarke nicht definiert.),
•the system is operated only in a perfectly functioning state and the safety devices in
particular are checked regularly for proper functioning,
•the required personal protective equipment is available to and worn by the
operational, maintenance and repair personnel,
•the operating manual is always available at the installation site of the device/system,
in legible condition and in full,
•only qualified and authorised personnel operate, maintain and repair the system,
•these personnel are regularly instructed in all relevant occupational safety and
environmental protection issues and are familiar with the operating instructions and
particularly the safety instructions contained therein,
•all safety and warning notices attached to the system remain attached and legible,
•changes to the system are made by authorised and expert personnel only.

1.4 Safety instructions and installation conditions
Attention!
•Use the device in proper working condition and for its intended use and in full
awareness of safety concerns and possible dangers.
•Observe the installation and operating instructions.
•Faults that can affect safety must be rectified immediately by a specialist.
•Installations and repairs that are not undertaken by authorised professionals, technical
modifications to the device that are not approved in writing by the manufacturer, and
the use of non-original spare parts will void the warranty and product liability of the
manufacturer.
•Intended use of the JRG Coral force KS class of devices
oLimescale conditioning in apartment buildings or smaller dispersing units
of hotels, schools and other public buildings, as well as in business and
industry.
oInstallation exclusively in the cold water supply of the potable water
installation.
oWhen used in potable water installations note and adhere to all (local)
installation regulations, general guidelines and standards for the supply of
potable water and heated potable water (TrinkwV, DIN2000, DIN2001,
DIN50930, DIN1988, DVGW; ÖVGW or SVGW standards).
•JRG Coral force KS devices are not suitable for:
oTechnical systems for which partially softened or demineralised water is
stipulated by the manufacturer (JRG Coral force KS devices are not water
softeners!).
oProcess water the composition of which does not correspond to the TVO
(Trinkwasserverordnung, or Potable Water Regulations),
oWater that is strongly undersaturated with respect to lime (lime-
aggressive) in the area of the treatment unit,
•The system is designed for a nominal pressure of 10 bar.
For the system to function correctly the operating pressure must be set between a
min. of 1.5 bar and a max. of 6 bar with a commercially available pressure regulating
valve.
•The device must be connected to properly installed, grounded and secure single-phase
mains electricity (230 V / 50 HZ).
•Insert the plug only after assembly is complete.
•The system must not be exposed to direct moisture. In particular, water dripping from
above must be prevented.

Foreword
Seite 10 von 64 Rev.: 11013802-2
•Check the tightness and proper functioning of the system regularly and comply
scrupulously with the prescribed inspection and maintenance intervals and the
measures provided for this purpose.
•Before performing maintenance or repair work, bar access by unauthorised persons to
the working area of the limescale conditioner.
oAffix or put up an information board that draws attention to the
maintenance or repair work.
oUnplug the device, depressurise the system, and secure against
restarting.
oBefore maintenance or repair work ensure that all device and system
parts have cooled down to room temperature.
•The device contains a flushing line, which must be run out to a drain. The unobstructed
flow of the runoff water must be ensured by the customer at all times. Attention:
Load-lifting equipment must be secured against power failure.
Any other use of the device or use beyond what is specified is
considered to be IMPROPER USE.
The manufacturer / supplier assumes no liability for damage caused by
disregarding these operating instructions or the regulations or for
damage caused by improper use. The user / operator bears sole risk.

2.1 Intended use
The JRG Coral force 5000, 5500, 6500 and 7000 limescale
conditioners reduce in a sustainable manner the build-
up of limescale in potable water systems and sanitation
facilities. The underlying principle of the
biomineralisation process protects against limescale
build-up without using chemical additives or the
electrolytic decomposition of water.
The units are designed to be installed in the main
connection of the potable water system of single- and
multi-family homes, hospitals, hotels, schools, and other
public buildings.
Unit selection and sizing are carried out according to
Georg Fischer JRG AG 's planning documents and design
specifications.
The device is not suitable for:
•technical systems where full or partial desalination is required or
prescribed by the manufacturer.
•systems with an operating pressure greater than 8 bar or less than
2 bar.

2.2 Description of function
The functioning of the JRG Coral force limescale conditioners is based on the patented WATERCRYST
catalyst technology. This leaves the valuable minerals in the potable water and does not alter its
natural composition.
The stainless steel tank contains (1) a loose bed of the active, fine-grained, polymer catalyst
granulate (2), above which are found the specific lighter filter granules (3) made of polypropylene,
as well as star filters (4.5) in the inlet and outlet made of food-grade and temperature-resistant
plastics, which retain the catalyst granulate (2) in the tank (1).
The water to be treated flows and swirls (A) through the catalyst granulate (2). Imitating natural
biomineralisation processes, tiny crystals of lime from the hardeners dissolved in the water are
deposited (B) on the surface of this catalyst. These tiny lime crystals are then picked up from the
surface of the catalyst by the water to be treated and dispersed via the water intake throughout the
entire installation system (D). A protective depot is thus formed by these tiny lime crystals, which
are active throughout the entire hot water system (depot effect).
A
B und C
D
E
Lime that precipitates within the installation system is deposited on the lime crystals suspended in
the water (D). The accreting lime crystals do not adhere to surfaces and are rinsed out of the
installation into the drainage system (S).
Limescale deposits on pipes and boiler walls, steam coils and fittings are effectively reduced.

Rev.: 11013802-2 Seite 15 von 64
A control and monitoring electronics system ensures automatic and correct operation.
Microbiological degradation of the equipment is prevented by regular, automatic, thermal
disinfection (TDI). During the TDI the catalyst cartridge is disconnected from the water supply line
via a valve unit; a bypass in the valve continues to ensure the potable water supply. The water in
the cartridge is heated to 80 °C and, after a reaction time of about 90 minutes, flushed out.
JRG Coral force limescale conditioners leave the valuable minerals in the
potable water. Once the water evaporates from tiles, fittings or shower walls,
the minerals are left behind and build up corresponding residues.
Your bathroom and sanitary facilities must therefore be regularly maintained
and cleaned. Important information plus tips and tricks can be found on the
Georg Fischer JRG AG website (www.gfps.com).

5Technical data
*) The maximum number of residential units (RU) specified in the table refers, under VDI 3807-T3, to an average
occupancy of 2.2 persons per RU and an average water consumption of 100 litres/person/day. In practice,
significant deviations from the statistical average values can occur depending on the usage patterns of the
residents and actual occupancy of the apartments, which are taken into account in the planning and design of
limescale conditioning systems.
Note
The layout of the JRG Coral force limescale conditioners must in principle adhere
to the planning recommendations of Georg Fischer JRG AG. The relevant
documents and planning information can be found in our planner
documentation.
