ENERAL SAFETY RULES
Warning! Read all instructions. Failure to follow
all instructions listed below may result in
electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The
term „power tool“ in all of the warnings listed
below refers to your mains operated (corded)
power tool or battery operated (cordless)
power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
1 W
ORK AREA
a) Keep the work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in
explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases
or dust. Power tools create sparks which
may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away
while operating a power tool. Distractions
could cause you to lose control.
2 E
LECTRICAL SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the
outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
Do not use any adapter plugs with
earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or
grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if
your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or
wet conditions. Water entering a power tool
will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the
cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
the power tool. Keep cord away from
heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk
of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool
outdoors, use an extension cord
suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of
electric shock.

RANGE OF USE
Cutting and trimming of hedges, bushes and
ornamental shrubs in the domestic sector. All
other uses are expressly excluded.
The application of unsuitable maintenance
procedures and the use of inappropriate
components or the removal of safety devices
represent hazards. Be very careful!
Before using the hedge-trimmer, we
recommend you read the operating
instructions and safety warnings.

operating a power tool. Do not use a
power tool while you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol or
medication. A moment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious
personal injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear
eye protection. Safety equipment such as
dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat,
or hearing protection used for appropriate
conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the
switch is in the OFF position before
plugging in. Carrying power tools with your
finger on the switch or plugging in power tools
that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench
before turning the power tool on.
A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating
part of the power tool may result in personal
injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times. This enables better
control of the power tool in unexpected
situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving
parts.
Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the
connection of dust extraction and
collection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used.
Use of these devices can reduce dust related
hazards.
4 P
OWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the
correct power tool for your application.
The correct power tool will do the job better
and safer at the power rating for which it
was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch
does not turn it on and off. Any power tool
that cannot be controlled with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power
source before making any adjustments,
changing accessories, or storing power
tools.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the
reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power tool
or these instructions to operate the
power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for
misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any other
condition that may affect power
tool operation. If damaged, have the
power tool repaired before use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are
easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and
tool bits etc., in accordance with these
instructions and in the manner intended
for the particular type of power tool,
taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for
operations different from those intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
5 S
ERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by a
qualified repairer using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that
the safety of the power tool is maintained.

TRIMMER SAFETY WARNING
a) Do not expose to moisture.
b) Remove plug from the mains
immediately if the cable is damaged or
cut.
c) Keep all parts of the body away from
the cutter blade. Do not remove cut
material or hold material to be cut when
blades are moving. Make sure the
switch is off when clearing jammed
material. A moment of inattention while
operating the hedge-trimmer may result in
serious personal injury.
d) Carry the hedge-trimmer by the
handle with the cutter blade stopped.
When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer
always fit the cutting device cover. Proper
handling of the hedge-trimmer will reduce
possible personal injury caused by the cutter
blades.
e) Keep cable away from cutting area.
During operation the cable may be hidden in
shrubs and can be accidentally cut by the
blade.
f) Check that the hedge is free of foreign
objects, e.g. wire mesh.
g) For safety reasons, the socket used
to power the unit should be backed up
by a residual current device-operated
(FI) circuit-breaker which can be tripped
by a max. current of 30mA.
h) Always hold the device with both
hands.

POWER CONNECTION
nThis tool is double insulated; therefore no
earth wire is required.
nThe mains voltage must conform to the
specifications on the tool rating plate.
nCord Sets - Make sure your cord set is in
good condition. When using a cord set, be
sure to use a cord that is heavy enough to
carry the current that your unit wilI draw.
An undersized cord set will cause a drop
in line voltage resulting in reduced power
and overheating. The table (below) shows
the correct size to use depending on the
cord length and nameplate amperage rating.
If in doubt, use the next heavier size Iine
gauge.
The smaller the gauge number, the heavier
the cord.
nConnect the tool plug to an approved
extension lead and protect the plug
connection with the pull-relief
(
N
Fig. 2
).
SWITCHING ON AND OFF
For your safety, this tool is equipped with a
double switching system. This system
prevents starting the tool inadvertently and
will only allow operation while holding the tool
with both hands.
nBe sure that the cutting system has been
assembled correctly and fixed firmly.
nTo Switch On: Press the On/Off switch (5)
and On/Off grip switch (3) with both hands
at the same time.
nTo Switch Off: Release On/Off switch (5)
and/or handle switch (3).
nThe mechanical braking device stops the
blade within 1 second.
nWhen you stop your equipment, be sure
that the cutting system stops its movement
before attempting to put away the
equipment.
ROTATION OF HANDLE
The execution with rotational rear handle
guarantees an easy use of the hedge-trimmer
in all working conditions.
nRelease the switch and wait for the blades
to stop before making adjustments.
nPull back the handle button without pressing
the switch lever; please note that, if the
switch lever is pressed, the button will not
move!
(
N
Fig. 5
)
nTurn the handle and move it to the desired
position
(
N
Fig. 6
)
nThere are 5 possible positions: -90°
(
N
Fig. 7
), -45°
(
N
Fig. 7
), 0°, 45°
(
N
Fig. 8
), 90°
(
N
Fig. 8
)
nRelease the button
nIf the handle is in the right position, the
button will return in its “ forward” position
nIf the button does not return to position,
turn the handle slightly until this blocks.
nIf the button does not return to position, the
switch lever cannot be operated.
CUTTING HEDGES
nIf possible, clean the cutting area before
using the appliance. Remove any stones,
pieces of glass, nails, metal cable and any
objects that could be projected or caught
during cutting.
nUsing pruning shears, first prune branches
of a diameter above 24 mm.
nYoung buds can be trimmed easily with a
scythe movement; the older and bigger
hedge can be trimmed easily with a sawing
movement.
nUse the suggested trimming methods. A
trapezoidal section best suits natural plant
growth and enables hedges to thrive best.
(
N
Fig. 4
)
nCut the sides of the hedge first, starting
from the bottom and working up. Cut the
top level, slantwise or rounded as desired.
nThe safety cutter bar is provided with
rounded and offset cutting teeth to reduce
the risk of injury. The additional impact guard
prevents unpleasant backlash from contact
with walls, fences, etc.
nIf hard objects become jammed in the cutter
blade, switch off the tool immediately, pull
out the plug first and only then remove the
objects.
nOnly cut the materials recommended by
the manufacturer. Caution: Metal objects
such as wire fences and plant supports
can damage the cutter bar.. Do not allow
the cutting blades to come in contact with
materials that cannot be trimmed, such as
stones or metals.
nAlways keep the lead away from the
working area. Always work away from the
power socket. For this reason decide on
the direction of cut before starting work.
nCutting periods:
nDeciduous hedges: June and October
nPine hedges: April and August
nConiferous hedges: from May on, as
required.
