2. Safety
2.1 Intended Use
The logger EASYLOG 80NS-K-…and EASYLOG 80NS-W-…are especially designed for long-time
monitoring of standard signals.
The combination of low power consumption with high battery capacity ensure a long record-
ing time.
The last 250.000 measuring values are stores in the memory.
The LCD-display informs about measured state and about the operating status of the logger.
Only technically qualified persons are permitted to carry out installation, commissioning,
operation and decommissioning. The qualified personnel must have carefully read and
understood the operating manual before beginning any work.
This device must not be used at potentially explosive areas, as safety or emergency stop
devices or in any other application where failure of the product could result in personal
injury or material damage.
This device must not be used at a patient for diagnostic or other medical purpose.
The liability and warranty of the manufacturer for damages and consequential damages
are voided with misuse, disregard of this operating manual, assignment of inadequately
qualified technical personnel and arbitrary modifications of the product.
2.2 Safety signs and symbols
Warnings are labelled in this document with the followings signs:
Caution!
This symbol warns of imminent danger, death, serious injuries and signifi-
cant damage to property at non-observance
Attention!
This symbol warns of possible dangers or dangerous situations which can
provoke damage to the device or environment at non-observance.
Note!
This symbol point out processes which can indirectly influence operation or
provoke unforeseen reactions at non-observance.
2.3 Skilled personnel
are persons who are familiar with the set-up, installation, commissioning and operation of
the product and have appropriate qualification for their work. For example:
•Training or instruction and/or authorisation, power circuits and devices/systems in ac-
cordance with the standards of safety for activation, deactivation, disconnection, earth-
ing and identification.
•Training or instruction in accordance with the standard of safety technology for care
and use of suitable safety equipment.

2.4 Safety guidelines
This device has been designed and tested in accordance with the safety regulations for
electronic devices. However, its trouble-free operation and reliability cannot be guaran-
teed unless the standard safety measures and special safety advises given in this manual
will be adhered to when using the device.

Install the displaying device according to the manufacturer's specifications and
the valid standards and regulations.
2.
Modifications or repairs of the device may not be performed by the customer.
For maintenance or repair the device must be sent to the manufacturer.

Trouble-free operation and reliability of the device can only be guaranteed if the
device is not subjected to any other climatic conditions than those stated under
”Specification”.
To protect the battery, the maximum permissible storage and transport
temperature of the device is 70 °C

When connecting the device to other devices (e.g. PC) the interconnection has to
be designed most thoroughly as internal connections in third-party devices (e.g.
connection GND with protective earth) may lead to undesired voltage potentials.

If there is a risk whatsoever involved in running it, the device has to be switched
off immediately and to be marked accordingly to avoid re-starting.
Operator safety may be a risk if:
- there is visible damage to the device.
- the device is not working as specified.
- the device has been stored under unsuitable conditions for a longer time.
In case of doubt, please return device to manufacturer for repair or maintenance.

application where failure of the product could result in personal injury or material

Failure to comply with these instructions could result in death or serious injury
and material damage.

3. Product description
3.1 Required accessory
The EASYLOG 80NS-…is configurated, started and read-out via the EASYBus-interface.
Therefore the following accessories are required:
Level converter
- RS232 <> EASYBus (i.e. EBW 1, EBW 64, EBW 240)
- USB <> EASYBus (i.e. EBW 3)
Connecting cable: level converter to EASYLOG
GSOFT 40K (version >7.14):
Windows software to start the logger and read out the logger-data
EASYBus-Configurator (version >2.0):
for the configuration of the extended settings
3.2 Notes on the logger’s delivery status
The delivered logger is in a “sleep mode”, that means nothing is displayed and the
power consumption is at its minimum. When there is a communication with the software
for the first time, the EASYLOG leaves the sleep mode and ›Stop‹ is displayed. Then the
device is ready for operation.
Note: That sleep mode (nothing is displayed) cannot be restored again.
“Stop“ or “Halt“ are similar to the sleep mode. Both of that operation
modes ensure minimum consumption.
Note: Logger start over keypad:
before logger start over keypad, logger time must be adjust with
GSOFT 40K.
3.3 Programming of the display range
The display range, position of decimal point and the display unit can be set by the
EASYBus-Configurator software.
Furthermore, it can be used to read out sensor information (unit type, serial number,
address, etc.) and to program the alarm points of the logger.

5. Electric connection
For the types 4 –20 mA and 0 –20 mA mind the maximum input current rating
of 40 mA under any circumstances !

5.2 EASYLOG 80NS-W …
To connect the logger it is simply plugged into an existing transmitter by means of a
special adapter for the cubic plug according to DIN EN 175301-803 A (ex. DIN43650 A).
The assignment of the angle-type plug is designed for the most commonly used assign-
ments of the respective input signals. As this is not a standardised assignment, your
transmitter assignment may not correspond to the EASYLOG assignment.

Input signal: 4-20mA
In the angle-type plug the male contacts 1, 3 and 4
are directly connected 1:1 with the socket. The
EASYLOG (Rs = 50 Ohm) is located between the male
contact 2 (-) and the jack 2 (+).
If the 'Signal/GND'- line in your transmitter is not as-
signed to contact 2, please do not forget to adjust
the EASYLOG -angle-type plug accordingly.
To do so open the EASYLOG -angle-type plug and exchange the red wire of contact 2
against the wire of the contact representing the signal 'Signal/GND' in your transmitter.
Then exchange and/or rewire the two contacts in the angle-type plug of your connecting
cable.
Input signal: 0-20mA
In the angle-type plug the male contacts 1, 2 and 4
are directly connected 1:1 with the socket. The
EASYLOG (Rs = 50 Ohm) is located between the male
contact 3 (-) and the jack 3 (+).
If the 'Signal/GND'- line in your transmitter is not as-
signed to contact 3, please do not forget to adjust
the EASYLOG -angle-type plug accordingly.
To do so open the EASYLOG -angle-type plug and exchange the black wire of contact 3
against the wire oft he contact representing the signal 'Signal/GND' in your transmitter.
Then exchange and/or rewire the two contacts in the angle-type plug of your connecting
cable.
Input signal: 0-1V, 0-2V, 0-10V
In the angle-type plug the 4 male contacts are directly connected 1:1 with the socket. The
EASYLOG connection is on contact 1 (signal +) and contact 2 (signal - ).
If your transmitter assignments for the ‘signal+’ and ‘signal-‘ are different, please do not
forget to adjust male contacts of your angle-type plug accordingly:
To do so open the EASYLOG -angle-type plug and remove the red and the blue wires en-
tering the housing from the coupling of the angle-type plug. Connect wires with the re-
spective contacts, representing signal + (blue wire) and signal –(red wire) at your trans-
mitter.
5.3 Connection advice
If more than EASYBUS-sensor modules are connected at the same EASYBUS, the input
signals of each EASYBUS-sensor module (e.g. EASYLOG 80NS…, EASYLOG 80IMP,
EBN) has to be isolated from the others.

6. Operation
6.1 Operating possibilities at the device - display selection

Display max-value
Push button shortly
The max-value is displayed for 4 seconds.
(The max-value display function is signalled by the display el-
ement “MAX”).
Note: You can immediately deactivate the max-value dis-
play by pushing the button again.
Delete max-value
Push button for about 5 seconds.
“CLr”is displayed and the max-values of all measuring
channels are deleted.
Display min-value
Push button shortly
The min-value is displayed for 4 seconds.
(The min-value display function is signalled by the display el-
ement “MIN“).
Note: You can immediately deactivate the max-value dis-
play by pushing the button again.
Delete min-value
Push button for about 5 seconds.
“CLr” is displayed and the min-values of all measuring
channels are deleted.
6.2 Operating possibilities at the device - logger operation

The main display shows “CYCL”. The secondary display
shows the currently adjusted cycle time [in sec.].
If the logger is currently not recording, the desired cycle time
[2 sec to 5h (18000 sec)] can be adjusted via the buttons
and .
Press button again to confirm your adjustments and to
leave the menu.
Note: If no key is pressed for more than 2 min, the menu is
quit without saving.
Start recording
Push button for about 5 seconds.
The main display shows “run”.
The secondary display shows “no”.
To start recording select “YES” with the arrow keys
(button or ) and verify with .
Note: If no key is pressed for more than 2 min, the menu is
quit without saving.

Stop recording
Push button for about 5 seconds.
The main display shows “HoLd”.
The secondary display shows “no”.
To stop recording select “YES” with the arrow key
(button or ) and verify with .
Note: If no key is pressed for more than 2 min, the menu is
quit without saving.
Notice: If you have activated one of the following options
• “logger stop via buttons disabled”
• “do not stop active logger”
at the configuration of the logger the menu to
stop the recording cannot be called.
6.3 Operating possibilities via software GSOFT 40K
You can easily operate the logger via the software GSOFT 40K (> V7.14). This software
provides a variety of functions to operate the logger. For example:
•start and stop the logger
•read out the logger data; illustrate them graphically and save them
•adjust the alarm boundaries and alarm delay *1
•activate the function: “logger stop via buttons disabled“
*1Please note: The alarm settings can be only changed if the logger is stopped
(= logger without logger data).
6.4 Operating possibilities via software EASYBus-Configurator
The software EASYBus-Configurator (> V2.0) is needed to change the configuration
settings.
With that software the following adjustment are additionally possible.
•adjustment of display range, position of decimal point and the display unit
•Offset and slope adjustment
•Activation of the function: “do not stop active logger”
*2Please note: This can be only changed if the logger is stopped (=logger without
logger data)
7. Battery life time and recording period
Measuring cycle: 4 sec 3 min 15 min 5 h
Recording period: 11.5 days 521 days 7.1 years 142 years
Battery life time: -- -- ca. 5 years --
Please note: Short measuring cycles seriously reduce the battery life time!
In this case you should consider not unplugging the EASYBus-
interface.
Then the logger is supplied via the interface.
The internal battery is spared.

8. Operating displays
The EASYLOG provides two LCD-displays: 7 mm (main display) and
5.8 mm (secondary display).
8.1 Measured value display
The LCD mainly displays the measured values:

sec. display: empty
•The arrow “Logg“ indicates that the logger is recording.
•The arrow "AL" indicates that an alarm is present.
8.2 Logger status messages
At stand-alone-operation (= no EASYBus connected) logger status messages are dis-
played.
STOP:
The EASYLOG recording has been ›stopped‹.
The logger memory is empty.
Note: At this state the power consumption is at its
minimum.
HOLD:
The EASYLOG recording has been ›halted‹. No data is stored,
but the logger memory contains data.
The number of the saved recording sets is shown at the
secondary display.
START DELAY:
The logger is activated, but no data is recorded yet.
As soon as the start delay is run out the logger begins with the
recording according to the programmed starting condition.
START ALARM:
The logger is activated, but no data is recorded yet.
The logger begins with the recording as soon as the measured
values are within the selected min- and max-alarm boundaries.
