functionandoperational reliabilityofyourproductovermanyyears.Failuretoobservethefollowing
pointsmayprovedangerousorcanviolateexisting guidelines.
All GiesemannlampsareequippedwiththeCEsign.Youfindthissignonthetypesign inthelamp
oronanyexternalpowersupplybox.
Afterunpacking,pleasechecktoensuretheconditionof yourlampand that allcomponentsarepre-
sent. Damagemustbereportedimmediatelytoyourspecialistsupplierinordertomakeavalidclaim.
Thelampsmaybeinstalledonlybyauthorizedspecialiststaff.Theselampsmaynotbeoperatedif
anydamageisvisible,Iffalsefunctionappears,aftersubmersionintowater,oranyotherdeficiency
thatmayeffectsafeoperation.
Thelampsnevermaybeoperatedwithoutthecorrespondingprotectionglasses;brokensplash-shields
aretobereplacedimmediatelyinordertoguarantee sufficientwaterprotection.
Thedescribedlampsaredesignedexclusivelyfortheilluminationand additionof illuminationof
indooraquariumsonly.Theilluminationistobeinstalledsecurelywithaminimumdistance tothe
watersurface abovetheaquariumand shouldneverbeoperatedunderwater.Theyshouldneverbe
placedunsecuredontheaquariumedgeorhaveventilationinhibitedbywayofsurroundingequip-
ment,panelworkorcovers.Thelampsandtheelectrical componentsshouldbeprotecteduncondi-
tionallyagainstdirect wateringression.
Usethelampswithextremecautionifchildrenorotherpeoplearepresentwhodonotunderstand the
dangersof closeproximity.Packagingmaterialsmaynotbeusedforplayingandshouldbedisposed
ofsecurely:DANGER:riskof asphyxiation.
Neverlookdirectlyintothelightsource. Brightlightcanleadtoeyeinjuries!
Maintenance workonthelampsshouldonlybecarriedoutafterremovingapplicablecoversanden-
suringthelightisdisconnectedfromthepowersupplyat thewall.Forsafetyreasonsit isrecom-
mendedthat anyworkcarriedoutintheaquarium,shouldonlytakeplace whentheilluminationis
removedfromtheaquarium.
DonotattempttoopenanyLEDlightmodule,orpowersupply, asthiswillcausedamagetotheinner
seal and willvoidthewarranty.
Thehousingandprotectiveglassesmaybecomeveryhotduringuse:Avoidtouching them!! When
cleaning, it isparticularlyimportanttoensurethat nomoisturegetsintotheairventsinsideorontop
ofthelights.Nevercovertheventilationgrilleswithanyitem,and makesurethattherecanbesuffi-
cientheatexchange.
Improperusewill invalidateanywarrantyclaim.Thetransportandstorageof thelampmustonlybe
doneusingtheoriginalpackaging.
Thelightsaremadeof aluminiumwhichisprotectedfromseawatercorrosionbyahighqualitypow-
dercoating.Tokeepthebodycleanandthelightareasclear,cleanregularlywithaslightlydamp
cloth.Pleasenotethat salt depositsalwaysshouldberemovedimmediately,otherwiseevenquality
surfacesmaybecomedamagedovertime.Failuretomaintaineffectivelymayleadtotheloss ofwar-
ranty.
Disposal: Once thisappliance hasexpired,maketheretiredlightsunusablebyremovingtheplug
fromthesocketandcutthecable.Disposeofthelampinaccordance withapplicableenvironmental
regulationsinyourcountry. Electrical wastemaynotbedisposedofwithhouseholdwaste. Contactus

Installation
ToassembleyourFUTURAtherearedifferentmounting options(notincluded)whichareavailablefromyourGiese-
mann dealer.
InstallationoftheFUTURAbywire suspensionkit(Fig. 1,No.20300013): Removethefourplasticplugsinthe
topcoverglass ofthelightunit.Screwinatthesepoints,thetwocross wires(F) oftheoptionalFUTURAsteelsus-
pensioncross cableswiththeirM4screws onlyfinger tight.Makesurethattheplasticwasherisinplace aboveand
belowtheM4retainingscrew. Caution: Over-tighteningthescrewscancausedamagetotheglass! Removethe
small lock screwin thebottomofthewireholder(D)Insertthecross supportcable(E)in thegrooveofthecablehold-
er,insertthescrewand tightentosecure.Checkthetightness ofthecableholder.Install theceiling mounting (A)with
suitablescrewsand wall plugs,making surethatthebrickwork/ceiling on sitecan offersufficientsupport. Ifnecessary,
specialfastening systems, such asHollowwall anchors, screws, etcmaybenecessary.Ifuncertain, pleaseconsult with
aspecialistcompany.Nowrun thesteelcord(C)through theboreofscrew(B).Screw(B)intotheceiling mount(A).
Insertthelooseend ofthesteelcableintothetop opening ofthecableholderhole(D)and pushthrough until theend
exitsthrough thesidehole.Sinceyourlightisequippedwithcontinuouslyvariableheightadjustment,it canberaised
orloweredeasilybyapplying pressuretothenozzleofthespring lockmechanism.Forsafetyreasons,alwayssupport
thelampwhenit isbeing adjusted. Whenthelightunit isgentlyloweredagainwiththenozzlereleasedthecablewill
automaticallylock in place. Alwaysaim tosetyourlightunit levelwith theaquarium.
InstallationoftheFUTURAwithaquariummounts(Fig. 2, No. 20171031): TomounttheFUTURAtwoaquarium
mountsareneeded. Install theaquariummountwiththescrewsontheundersideoftheFUTURA.Theattachmentof
theaquariummountisvariable, makesurethatthedistance between thetwoholdersexactlytheaquariumlength. Then
positionthelightovertheaquariumtokeepthefeetofbothaquariumsmountsontheaquariumouterrim.Tightenthe
retaining screwstosecurethemountstotheaquarium.
PSU
EachLEDlightunitisequippedwithoneortwoseparatepowersupplieswithelectroniccontrolsthatdeliveracon-
stantoutput.Theinputvoltageis100-240VAC50/60 Hz.Useonlytheoriginalpoweradaptors.Theuseofalternate
typesmayresult in irreparabledamagetothelightunit and will invalidatethewarranty.
First,connectthepowersupplytothesocketofthelampcable. Betweenthelampand thepoweradapterensurethere
isadriploopformedsothatdripping watercannotgetintothepoweradapter.Plug thepowercordinafterplugging
intheexternalpowersupplyintothewall outlet.TheDCconnectionbetweenthepowersupplyand thelampshould
notbemodifiedinanyway.Attemptstomodifythisconnectionwithcontrollersorsimilarinterventionwill leadto
immediateloss ofwarranty.
Turning -On
Aftersupplying power,thelampwill startautomatically.AstatusLEDineachpowersupplywill lightup whichdis-
playstheoperation status. Thelamp isreadynowforuse.
Forprogramming oftheinbuilt lightcontrol,aPC,tabletcomputer,orasmartphonewithBluetooth/USBBluetooth
interface isrequired(notincluded).Thedevicecorresponding totherespectivesoftwareisavailableforfreeunderthe

Install thesoftwareafterthedownload according totherelevantinstructionsforyourdevice.
InternalFan
Dependentupontheinternallymeasuredtemperature,thefan/sareengagedautomaticallyand will varyspeedaccord-
ingly.Intheeventofoverheating, inbuilt protectionwill automaticallyswitchoffthelamp. Thefanswill continueto
run until thecorrecttemperaturehasbeenattainedatwhichpoint,thelampwill automaticallyre-engage.Repeated
overheating maydamagethelamp and should benotified toyourspecialistdealerimmediately.

WARNING: Beforeusing yourlightoveran aquariumthatmayalreadycontain sensitivefish/plants/corals
orotheranimalsthathavebecomeaccustomed to an alternatelightsource.PleaserememberthatyourLED
lightiscapableofdelivering veryhigh levelsoflightintensitywithinthefrequencyrangesthatareof
greatestimportance totheanimals.Itisoftenimpossibletojudgespectralintensitybyvisualreference
alonewhencomparing differentlighting methods, soit isadvisedthatasettingofnomorethan50%inten-
sitybeusedonanychannelforthefirstfewweeks,oruntil you havehadtimetosee howtheanimalsare
adapting tothechosenspectrumand intensitiesthatyouhaveset.Additionallylighting durationsmaybe
reduced temporarilytoreducethechancesofstress orshock.
ConnectingtotheLightusing thesoftware.
Withthelight/sturnedon, firstcheckthatyourPCcanseethelightunit/sbysearching foravailabledevicesinyour
Bluetoothmenu and allowtimeforanydevice driverstoinstall automatically.Youmaynotbeabletoconnectini-
tially,butthelightshould still showasavailable. Nowopen theFuturaBTsoftwareon yourcomputerthrough thestart
menu, orbyclicking theFuturaBTIconon thedesktoporTablet/ Smartphone. Inopening theprogram, the"FUTURA
BT"interfacewill appear.
ProgrammingtheFUTURA
Thefunctionalelementsand operationofthedifferentsoftwareversionsarebasicallythesame,although theinterface
appearance maydeviateslightlyfromthatshowndependenton thedevicetype.Fordemonstrationpurposesinthis
manualweshowthePCinterface.
Atthetopleftofthemenu click<CONNECT>and <Looking fordivices> inthefollowing screen. Allowashorttime
forthesoftwaretosearch. AfterthistimeallBluetoothdeviceswithinrangewillbedisplayedinalistin theupperleft
ofthispane.Initiallytheserialnumberofthedeviceswill beshownand thenchangeshowingthedevicenameie

matchthecomputerscurrenttime.Toadjust,Clickonthecurrenttimeand adjustaccord-
ingly. Click <UPDATE>toupload thenewsettings.

SerialNumberThefactoryassigned serialnumberofyourlamp.
FirmwareTheinstalled firmwareversionoftheirlight.

TheSettingsMenu
In thisarea, thebasicsettingsofthelamp can beadjusted.
Thismenu containsthefollowing subsections:
NameHereyoucanassignanindividualnametoyourlamp(usefulintheoperationand manage-
mentofmultipleunits).
LanguageThelanguageisautomaticallysetasarule.Nevertheless,thisoptionallowsyoutochange
thissetting tothefollowing availablelanguages:English, German, French and Italian.
DemoModeThismodecan beselectedfordemonstration purposes. Within approximately60 seconds, all
ofthefunctionsoftheluminairearesimulated(thisisafactorydeterminedmodewhich
cannotbeadjusted)Ifyouselectthefunction<LOOP>thedemomodewill repeatcon-
stantly.
FirmwareUpdateThisfunction allowstheon-board firmwaretobeupdated viaadownloadablefile.
TheDaycycleMenu
Here, lightcolours, durations, and intensitiesaresetforeach day.

Firstchoosewhichboardistobeprogrammed. Orselect<#ALL>ifyouwishtoduplicateall settingsacross all
boards, iethesametimings, thesamelightintensities, and thesamelightcolormixes.
Alternativelyit ispossibletoprogrameachboardindividually.Depending onthelightversion(numberofboards
available)youhavebetween10 to30 individuallyprogrammablecolorchannels(5perboard).Thus,forexample,a
varying brightness and colordevelopmentcanbeachievedovertimefromlefttorightorvice versatosimulatethe
sun’snaturaltransitionthroughoutthedayinbothintensityand position. Thisprogramming allowsforanalmostinfi-
nitenumberoflighting scenariostobecreated.
Afterselecting and confirming theboardstobeprogrammed, awindowwiththeselectedprofilewill beshowngiving
an overviewfortheentiredaywith each ofthe5 channelsshown asacoloured lineorplot.
Thechartstartsontheleftofthehorizontalaxisat00:00hrsrunning to23:59hrsontheright.Thefivecolorchannels
withtheirrespectivelightintensitiesanddurationsareshownastime/intensitycurves(0-100%) withintensityshown
on theleftofthegraph on theverticalaxis.
Selection andAdjustmentoftheindividuallightChannels
On theleftsideoftheselection baratthetopofthecurrentlyactivescreenyoucan choosetheindividualchanneltobe
adjusted. Tapthisareatoselectacolourchannelwhosesettingsyouwanttochange.Afterselecting acolourchannel
thecorresponding curveand currentsetpointswill behighlighted. Touching orclicking onasetpointwill allowyou
todragoradjustthatpointtoanywhereonthescale.Whilsthighlightedorwhilstbeing moved, thesetpointdetails
will bedisplayed in numericaltermsasboth timeand intensity.
Pleasenote:Eachsetpointmustfollowthepreviouspointand restpriortothenexttocreatealinearcurve.Anexist-
ing set-pointcannotbemovedtoatime‘before’theprevioussetpoint,orafterthenextinthecurve.Thefirstand last
setpointswill alwaysrepresentthestartand end ofyourdaytimelightcycleforthecolourchannelyouarecurrently

adjusting. Ifeitherstartorend set-pointareatalevelabove0%intensity,theprogramwill automaticallyfollowthat
trend across therestofthe24hrperioduntil reaching thefirstsetpointofthefollowing day.Setting bothstartandend
pointsto0%will ensurethattherespectivechannelremainsinactiveatall othertimes.Moonlightcyclesarecovered
laterin thismanual.
Youcanadd setpointsatanypointalong thecurvebytapping anynon-allocatedareabetweenexisting pointsand the
curvewill automaticallyadjusttofactorthenewpoint.Alternatelyapointmayberemovedby‘doubleclicking’onit,
and thecurvewill adjustautomaticallybyjoining thepreviousand nextsetpoints.Inthisfashion, veryrealisticlight-
ing curvesmaybeprogrammedforeachcolourchanneltosimulatenotonlyrealisticincreasesand decreasesininten-
sityacross thelightperiod, butalsonaturalchangesinthespectraldistributionacross thelightperiod, suchasagentle
warmorangesunrisethrough middayhigh intensitylightofamoreevenspectrum,andontolateevening twilight.A
maximumof4320 set-pointsmaybeprogrammed across all boardsand all colourchannelsduring a24hrperiod.
TheDefaultsettings
Clicking the"Default 1"or"Default 2"buttonwill setall colourchannelstoapredefinedcurve.Fromhereyoucan
adjustthecurvesofeachchanneltosuiteyourindividualrequirementsbymoving, adding, orsubtracting setpointsas
you go.
Reset
Using thisfunctionwill resetall colourchannelsto50%intensityfortheentirecourseofthe24 hourcycle
(00:00 -23:59)
Move settings
All settingsoftheactuallychosen curvemaybemoved backward and forward.
Usetheslidertoselectanintervalfortheshiftofthecurve.Byclicking onthetwodirectionbuttonsthecurveis
shiftedbythespecifiedtime.Repeattheprocess ifnecessary.With OKthenewvaluesarestoredforthecurrentchan-
nel.
Upload Settingsand TransmittoLight
Click the<TRANSFER>button toupload thecurrentlystored settingson theFUTURAlighttothesoftwareinterface.
Hereyoucanadjustthesettingsasdescribedabove.Afterwardsclick<transmit>tosend thenewsettingsbacktothe
lightunit. NOTE:thiswilloverwritethecurrentsettingsstoredonyourlightunit.
Save
Afterclicking theoption<SAVE>afilebrowserwindowwill open. Thisallowsthecurrentlydisplayedsettingstobe
storedlocallyontheinputdeviceasafile.Thisfilemaybesavedwithanewnameorwill besavedasadefault file
name.
Inthiswayyoucansaveyoursettingswhileediting atanintermediatestageforuselater.Inaddition, Thefilemaybe
used foradditionallightsiftheyrequireidenticalsettingsorcan beshared with othersasaprofile.
Note:Asavedprofilecanbeusedforjustoneorall availableboards.Tocreateseparatediffering profilesforeach
board(suchasafull moving suneffectwhereboardshavestaggeredprofilesfromlefttorightorviseversa),it is
recommendedthatanappropriatefilenameiscreatedforeachboardprofilesuchas“daycycleboard0master”or
“daycycleboard 01slave”etc
Preview:
Clicking thisbuttonwill send thedisplayedprofiletemporarilytothelightunit whereit will runthrough thefull
24hourcycleincondensed time.Thisallowsyou toseetheresultsofanychangesbeforeuploading thenewsettingsto
thelightunit.Youcantheneithertransferthenewsettingstooverwritethepreviousprofile,orsavethemforfurther
adjustmentatalaterstageontheinputdevice.(NOTE: whilstinPreviewmode,anyactiveweatherormoonsimula-
tionswill run aswell, possiblyshowing asrapid flashing ofthelightsimulation. De-activating thesesettingstemporar-
ilywill allowforamuchsmootherpreview.Itshouldalsobenotedthatinsituationswherealatedaycycleischosen,
after9.00amforexample,it maytakeseveralminutesbeforeanyactivityinshowninpreviewmodewhilstthesoft-
warerunsthrough thenon-lightperiod 00.00-09.00. Thepreviewmodewill continuetorun until theend ofthesimula-
tion. Ie23:59 atwhich pointthelightunit will revertback totheon-board settings.

Thisfeatureallowsforfinetuning ofthevisuallightcomposition in realtime.

lighting conditions.Preferredmixesorratioscanthenberecordedforreference laterwhenprogramming thedaytime

In thisarea,weatherscenarioscan beinitiated.
Ifdesired, choosetheweathersettingshere. Thefollowing optionsareavailable:

Thissetting simulatesthepassing ofcloudsbyconsecutivedimming and thenbrightening

CloudsperDayHerethenumberofcloudsaredeterminedeachdayfrom1-100. Theindividualclouds
occuratrandomintervals.

Thisprovidesalighteningsimulation. InthisparticularmodetheLEDchannelsareacti-
vated inyourlamp toproduceastroboscopicflickering lightning stormsimulation.

ing all subsequentboards.Firstchoosewhichboardistobeprogrammedselecting oneormoreboardsifyouwishthe
moontobepresentoveraselectareaoftheaquarium.Orselect#ALL ifyouwishtoduplicatethesimulationacross
all boards.Confirmyourselection bypressing <OK>.
Anewwindowwill appearshowing agraph withintensityshownontheverticalaxisand durationshownonthehori-
zontalaxisoveraperiodof0-28 days:Movethesliderentitled"MoonIntensity",toadjustthemaximumbrightness
ofthemoon. Thisvaluedeterminesthemaximumintensityofthe full moonatday14. All othervaluesoftheascend-
ing and descending lunarphaseintensitywill becalculatedautomaticallyacross the28 daycycle.Movetheslider
entitled"LunarCycle"todeterminethecurrentmoonphasepositionrelativetoyourownrealtimelunarcycle.Ieif
yourlocalLunaphaseisatitspeakin2daystime,settheslidertoday12. Afterconfirming thesettings,adialog
appears.Hereyoucansetthedailymoonriseand moonsettimes.Finally,saveyourpreferencebyclicking the<Save>
or<Transfer Settings>button.

Thismenu can onlybeused bytheGIESEMANN technicalservice. Ourtechnicianscan read all theoperating parame-
tersofyourlamp. Thus,theexactlifeofyourlamp, themaximumtemperaturereached, and anyerrormessagesen-
countered. In addition it can bedetected whetheranytechnicalchangeshavebeen madetothelamp.

spitetheutmostcareand technicalassistance providedourproductshavebeen madebypeople.There-
