1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. PREFACE
Welcome to use theGV-GF3000D 3D graphics accelerator. TheGV-GF3000D
3D graphics accelerator is an innovative design that delivers a new level of
balanced, scalable and sustained 3D performance along with smooth video
and great 2D graphics experience.
This manual will take you through the steps in order to properly install the
GV-GF3000D graphicsaccelerator into your computer. Please note that your
computer may differ slightly from the illustrations and screen shots displayed
in this manual.

2. HARDWAREINSTALLATION
WARNING!
Expansion cards contain very delicate Integrated Circuit (IC) chips. To protect them
againstdamagefromstaticelectricity,youshouldfollowsomeprecautionswhenever
you work on your computer.
1. Turn off your computer and unplug power supply.
2. Usea grounded wriststrapbefore handling computercomponents.If you donothave one,touch
both of your hands to a safely grounded object or to a metal object, such as the power supply
case.
3. Place components on a grounded antistatic pad or on the bag that came with the components
whenever the components are separated from the system.
4. Ensure that the ATX power supply is switched off before you plug in or remove the ATX power
connector on the motherboard.
2.1. UNPACKING
The GV-GF3000D package contains the following:

The card contains sensitive electric components, which can be easily
damaged by static electricity, so the card should be left in its original packing
until it is installed.
Unpackingandinstallationshouldbedoneonagroundedanti-static mat. The
operator should be wearing an anti-static wristband, grounded at the same
point as the anti-staticmat.
Inspect the card carton for obvious damage. Shipping and handling may
cause damage to your card. Be sure there are no shipping and handling
damages on the card before proceeding.
?DO NOT APPLY POWER TO YOUR SYSTEM IF IT HAS BEEN DAMAGED ON
THE CARD.

2.3. HARDWARE INSTALLATION
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Unplug monitor cable from your computer.
3. Remove your computer’s unit cover, and ground yourself.
4.

Remove the screw and slot bracket from the board’s mounting.
Be sure removing the existing graphics card from your system, if you
have another graphics card in your system.
5. Pick up the GV-GF3000D and remove the plastic sleeve.
6.

Press the card firmly into the AGP slot.
Be sure the metal contactson the card are indeed seated in the slot.
7. Replace the screw to secure the slot bracket of the GV-GF3000D.
8. Replace your computer’s unit cover.
9.
Plug your monitor’s 15-pin connector into your GV-GF3000D monitor
connector.
10. Turn on the power.
11. You can install the driver and utility to your system now.

3. SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
In this manual, we assume that your CD-ROM Drive letter to be Drive D:
3.1. WINDOWS95 / WINDOWS98 / WINDOWS ME DRIVER AND
UTILITIES INSTALLATION
The installationof Windows 95 /98 /ME drivers is very simple.
When you insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM drive, you can see the
AUTORUN window (if it does not show up, run “D:\setup.exe”). Then you
can follow guides to setup your GV-GF3000D driver (Please follow the
subsection 3.1.3 “Step By Step Installation” to install the driver for your
GV-GF3000D graphics accelerator.
3.1.1. Operating system requirement
?IfyourOS isMicrosoftWindows，whenloadingtheGV-GF3000D drivers
for the system, your Windows95 version should be OSR 2.1 or later or
Windows 98 Bata3 or later. Please make sure your system has installed
DirectX8 or later.
If your windows version is an older version, you must use the USB
supplement update (make sure the update language is the same with
your system language) to upgrade your system to OSR 2.1.
?You can find the USB supplement update in the April 1997 MSDN
Disc1\OSR2\USBSUPP.
?In Windows95,ifyouinstalltheGV-GF3000Ddrivers for the mainboard,
which consist of SIS, ALI or VIA chipsets, please install the appropriate
GART.vxd program for that mainboard. Please see the driver CD for
appropriate Vgartd file.

3.1.2. DirectX Installation
Install Microsoft DirectX 8.0 to enable 3D hardware acceleration support
for Win95/98/ME to achieve better 3D performence.
?Note: For sofeware MPEG support in Win95/98/ME, you must
DirectX first install.
Select “ Install DirectX 8.0 ” item.
Select “Yes” Button.
Select “ Display Drivers Setup Utility.”

Then the DirectX 8.0installation is completed.
Select “ OK “ Button.
Select “Yes” Button.

3.1.3. Driver Installation
The following is the step-by-step installation guide.
Step 1: New Hardware Found
After GV-GF3000D is inserted into your computer at the first time, the
windows will automatically detect a new hardware inthe system and pop
out a “New Hardware Found” message. Please select “Do not install a
driver” and press OK.
Step 2: Update Device Driver Wizard: Standard PCI Graphics Adapter
(VGA)
Step 3: Update Device Driver Wizard: Finish
Atthistime,systemwillaskforyourWindowsCDinordertocomplete theVGA
driver installation.
If you don’t have the CD, you can pressC:\Windows\System directory.
Step 4: System Setting Change
Press the
“Next”button.
Don’t press “Cancel”,
because the system
will
hang if you press it.
Press the
“Finish”
button.

After the system has finished loading, insert the GV-GF3000D driver CD disk
intoyourCD-ROM, and then you can see the AUTORUN window. If it does not
show up, please run
“D:\setup.exe”.
Step 5: Driver Setup
Select the
“NO” button
Select the “Install Display
Drivers” item.
Press“Next”
item.

3.1.4. Utilities on driver CD
The utilities include software VCD player, Trail Version Games, Acrobat
Reader, Final Reality test program, and other useful utilities. Please browse
the driver CD for detail.
3.1.5. Property pages
Resolutions and Color depth for windows
Select the“Settings”tab.
You can move the slider to
the change resolution.
Youcanpress theitemto
change the color depth.
Select“Advanced” buttonfor
adapter and chip setting.
