Expansion cards contain very delicate Integrated Circuit (IC) chips. To
protectthemagainstdamagefromstaticelectricity,youshouldfollowsome
precautions whenever you work on your computer.
1.Turn off your computerand unplug powersupply.
2.Useagroundedwriststrapbeforehandlingcomputercomponents.Ifyoudonothave
one,touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygroundedobjectortoametalobject,suchas
thepowersupplycase.
3.Place components on a grounded antistatic pad or on the bag that came with the
componentswheneverthecomponentsareseparatedfromthesystem.
Thecardcontainssensitiveelectriccomponents,whichcanbeeasilydamagedbystatic
electricity,sothecardshouldbeleftinitsoriginalpackinguntilitisinstalled.
Unpackingandinstallationshouldbedoneonagroundedanti-staticmat.Theoperator
shouldbewearingananti-staticwristband,groundedatthesamepointastheanti-static
mat.
Inspectthecardcartonforobviousdamage.Shippingandhandlingmaycausedamage
toyour card. Be surethere are no shipping andhandling damages on the cardbefore
proceeding.
DO NOTAPPLYPOWER TO YOUR SYSTEM IF IT HAS BEEN DAMAGED ON
THE CARD.
In order to ensure your graphics card working correctly, please use official
Gigabyte BIOS only. Use none official Gigabyte BIOS might cause problem
on the graphics card.

2.2. Hardware installation
InstallingYourgraphicscard.
Nowthatyouhavepreparedyourcomputer,youarereadytoinstallyourgraphicsaccelerator
card.
To install your graphics accelerator card:
1. Power off the computer and monitor, then
disconnectthedisplaycablefromtheback
ofyourcomputer.
2. Removethecomputercover.Ifnecessary,
consultyourcomputer'smanualforhelpin
removingthe cover.
3. Remove any existing graphics card from
yourcomputer.
Or, if your computer has any on-board
graphicscapability,youmayneedtodisable
itonthemotherboard.Formoreinformation,
pleaseseeyoucomputerdocumentation.

4. Locatethe PCIExpressx16slot.If
necessary,removethemetalcoverfromthis
slot;thenalign yourgraphics cardwiththe
PCIExpressx16slot,andpressitinfirmly
untilthecardisfullyseated.
5. Replacethescrewtofastenthecardinplace,
andreplacethecomputercover.
6. Plug the displaycable into yourcard; then
turnonthecomputerandmonitor.Ifyour
graphicscardcamewithaDVI-Iconnector,
youcan connecta flat paneldisplay to the
appropriateconnector,as shownbelow...
You arenowready toproceed withtheinstallation ofthe graphicscard driver.Please
refertonextchapterfordetailedinstructions.

3. Software Installation
In this manual, we assume that your CD-ROM Drive to be Drive D:
TheinstallationofWin®2000/Win®XPdriversisverysimple.WhenyouinsertthedriverCD
into your CD-ROM drive, you can see theAUTORUN window (if it does not show up, run
"D:\setup.exe").Thenyoucanfollowtheguidestosetupyourgraphicscarddriver.(Please
follow the subsection 3.1.3 "Driver installation" to install the driver for your graphics
accelerator.)
3.1. Win®XP driver and utilities installation
3.1.1. Operating system requirement
•Whenloadingthegraphics carddriversforthe system,pleasemake sureyouhave
installedDirectX9orlaterversiontoyoursystem.
•IfyouinstallthegraphicscarddriversforthemotherboardbuiltonSISorVIAchipsets,
pleaseinstalltheappropriatedriverprogramforthatmotherboard.Orpleasecontact
yourmotherboard nearest dealer formotherboard driver.

InstallMicrosoftDirectXtoenable3DhardwareaccelerationsupportforWindows®2000or
Windows®XPtoachievebetter3Dperformance.
0Note:ForsoftwareMPEGsupportinWindows®2000orWindows®XP,youmust
installDirectXfirst.
Clickthe"InstallDirectX9" item.
Step1.When theautorunwindow showes
up,click the"Install DirectX9" item.
Step 2. Select the I accept the agreement
checkbox and clickthe "Next" button.
Step3.Clickthe"Next"button againtobegin

A. New hardware found
After the graphics card is inserted into your computer at the first time, the windows will
automaticallydetectanew hardwareinthe system andpopout a"NewHardwareFound"
message.Thefollowingisthestep-by-stepinstallationguide.
Step 1: Found new hardware wizard: Video controller (VGA Compatible)
Clickthe"Next"buttontoinstallthedriver.(There
is a driver CD disk that came with your graphics
accelerator,pleaseinsertitnow.)
Or click the "Cancel" button to install the driver
from AUTORUN window.
Step 2: Found new hardware wizard: Searching and installing
Thewizardwillsearchforthedriverandinstallitautomatically.
Step 3: Found new hardware wizard: Finish
Clickthe"Finish"buttontofinishtheinstallation.

B. Driver installation (Autorun Window)
InsertthedriverCDdiskintoyourCD-ROM,andthenyoucanseetheAUTORUNwindow.
Ifitdoes not showup,please run"D:\setup.exe".
Step 1. When autorun window show up,
click Install Display Driver item.
Click the "Install Display Driver" item.
Step 2. Click the "Next" button.
Step3.Clickthe"Finish"buttonandrestart
computer.Thenthedriverinstallationis
completed.

Afterinstallationof the displaydrivers,you willfinda GBTicon onthe taskbar'sstatus
area. Right-click this icon to open the GBT control panel, showing a menu composed of
shortcutofthegraphicscard'senhancedandotherfunctions.
Youmayclickthe"DisplayProperties"item,andthenclickSettings.Click"Advanced"after
clickingSettings.Clicktheappropriatetabtochangeyourdisplaysettings.
Rightclicktheicon.
YoucanlinktoGBTwebsiteforupdatedinformationaboutthegraph-
icsaccelerator,latestdrivers,andotherinformation.
Click "VGA Information" item

Color Adjust allows you to make color adjustments, such as brightness, contrast and
gammavaluesforeachorallofRGB colors.

3.1.6. Display properties pages
To access Display Properties pages, right-click the GBT icon on the taskbar and select
Display Properties or right-click on Desktop and then select Properties. The Display
Propertiesdialogboxshowstheinformationofdisplayadapter,color,therangeofdisplay
area,and the refreshrate.
Settings (Resolutions and Color depth for Windows)
Youmayadjustthescreenresolutionandcolorqualitysettingsinthisdialogbox.

Youcanclicktheitemtochangethe
colordepth.
You canmove theslider tochange

Clickthe"Advanced"buttonforadapterandsetting.
Toaccessmore advancedoptions,clickthe "Advanced" button.
Youcanselectotherpropertiesfromthepop-outmenu.
Afterpressing the "Advanced" button inSettings, you'llsee the Default Monitor and NVIDIA
GeForce PCX 5300 Propertiesdialog box. Click the GeForce PCX 5300 tab. (You can also
clickthe Nvidia iconon the taskbarand select Nvidia Displayto accessthe GeForcePCX 5300
properties page.)

by"SelectTVformat". Selecttheformat foryourtelevision
and then click "Apply" followed by "OK".

Theslidersletstodecidewhetheryourapplicationshoulduse
qualityorhighperformancetexture.
• Applicationprofiles:Selecttheapplicationprofilefromthelist
ofprofiles.
• Globaldriver settings: Selectthe Settingsitem and move
thesliderbelowtosetthedegreeofantialiasingtousedin
Direct3DandOpenGLapplications.
• Antialiasingsettingsvalue:allows tosetthedegreeof the
GlobalDriverSettings.
Color Correction properties
TheColorCorrectionPropertiesisusedtocompensatefor
variationsinluminancebetweenasourceimageanditsoutput
on a display device. Adjust the color correction settings to
providemoreaccuratecolorreproductionofimages(suchas
photographs) on your display device. Also, many 3D-
acceleratedgames mayappear too darkto play.Increasing
the brightness and/or the gamma value equally across all
channels makes these games appear brighter and more
playable.

Video Overlay Settings properties
TheVideo OverlaySettingsProperties canadjustOverlay
zoomcontrols andOverlay color controls.There isonly one
videooverlay,whichisonlyavailableonthePrimarydisplay.
Thevideooverlaycontrolsareautomaticallyactivatedduring
playback of any video file type that supports overlay
adjustments. The "Adjust Colors" button will access "Color
Correction"propertiespage.
Troubleshooting properties
TheNVIDIAsettingstaskbarutilityletsyouconvenientlyaccess
variousfeaturesandpresetsyou'veconfiguredintheDisplay
PropertiesdirectlyfromtheWindowstaskbar.
• DisplaytheNVIDIASettings iconinthetaskbar
The Desktop Manager provides enhanced nView multi-
displayfunctionalityandhelpsyouorganizeyourapplications
forusewithmultipledisplaysanddesktops.
• MyconnectedTVisnotbeingdetected.
ThisoptioncanbeusedtoforcedetectionofanattachedTV
setwhichdoesnot reportitspresencetothegraphicscard.
NV Rotate properties
TheNVRotatePropertiesisusedtorotatethescreen.Ifyour
monitoriscapableofoperatingineitherLandscapeorPortrait
mode,youcanadjustthescreenbythisproperties.
• Landscape(0degreerotation)
• Portrait(90degreerotation)
• Invertedlandscape(180degreerotation)
• Invertedportrait(270degreerotation)
