2.1.UNPACKING

The GV-R92128TEpackage containsthe following:

WARNING!

Expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.Toprotectthemagainst

damage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou workon your

computer.

1.Turnoff yourcomputerand unplug powersupply.

2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.If you do nothaveone,

touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchasthe power

supplycase.

3.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe

componentswheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.

The cardcontainssensitiveelectriccomponents,whichcan be easilydamaged bystaticelectricity,

sothe cardshouldbe left initsoriginalpacking until itisinstalled.

Unpacking and installation shouldbe done on agrounded anti-staticmat. The operatorshouldbe

wearing an anti-staticwristband,grounded atthe samepointasthe anti-staticmat.

Inspectthe cardcarton forobviousdamage.Shipping and handling maycausedamage toyour

card.Besurethereareno shipping and handling damageson the cardbeforeproceeding.

Installing yourgraphics card.

Nowthatyou haveprepared yourcomputer,you arereadytoinstall yourgraphics accelerator

card.

To install yourgraphics acceleratorcard:

1.Poweroff the computerand monitor,then

disconnectthe displaycablefromthe back

ofyourcomputer.

2.Removethe computercover.If necessary,

consultyourcomputer'smanualforhelpin

removing the cover.

3.Removeanyexisting graphics cardfrom

yourcomputer.

Or,ifyourcomputerhasanyon-board

graphics capability,youmayneed todisable

iton the motherboard.Formoreinformation,

see yourcomputer's

documentation.

4.Locatethe AGPslot. If necessary,remove

the metalcoverfromthisslot;then align your

graphics cardwiththeAGPslot, and press it

infirmlyuntil the cardisfullyeated.

5.Replacethe screwtofasten thecardinplace,

and replacethe computercover.

6.Plug the displaycableintoyourcard;then

turnon the computerand monitor.If your

graphics cardcamewithaDVIconnector,

you can connectaflatpaneldisplaytothe

appropriateconnector,asshownbelow...

You arenowreadytoproceed withthe installation ofthe graphics carddriver.Fordetailed

instructions,selectyouroperating systemfromthe listbelow.

Inthismanual, weassumethatyourCD-ROMDrive lettertobeDrive D:

AND UTILITIES INSTALLATION

The installation ofWin®98/98SE /WINDOWS®2000 /Win®ME/Win®XP driversisvery

simple.When you insertthe driverCD intoyourCD-ROMdrive,you can see the AUTORUN

window(ifitdoesnotshowup,run "D:\setup.exe").Then you can followguidestosetup

yourGV-R92128TEdriver(Pleasefollowthe subsection 3.1.3"Step ByStep Installation"to

install the driverforyourGV-R92128TEgraphics accelerator.

3.1.1.Operating systemrequirement

lIf yourOSisMicrosoft Windows,when loading the GV-R92128TEdriversforthe

system,pleasemakesureyoursystem(Windows98/98SE,Windows2000orWindows

ME)hasinstalled DirectXorlater.

lIf you install the GV-R92128TEdriversforthe motherboard,whichconsistofSIS,ALI

orVIAchipsets,pleaseinstall the appropriateDriverprogramforthatmotherboard.Or

pleasecontactyourmotherboardnearestdealerforM/BDriver.

Install Microsoft DirectX(orlaterversion)toenable3Dhardwareacceleration supportfor

Windows®98 /98SE /Windows®2000 /Windows®MEorWindows®XP toachievebetter3D

performence.

MNote:ForsoftwareMPEGsupportinWindows®98/98SE/Windows®2000 /

Windows®MEorWindows®XP,you mustinstall DirectX(orlaterversion)first.

2.Click "Next"icon.

1.Install DirectXDriver:

Click "Install DirectX9"Item.

DirectX9.0isthe up-to-dateruntimelibraryforall Windowsoperating system.Thisversion is

capableofupdating yourDirectXofyouroperating systemtowhatisrequired foryour

graphics acceleratorhardwaretorun toitsbestperformance.

Forexample,ifyourgraphics acceleratorcan supportDirectX8.1,updating withDirectX9.0

can upgrade youroperating systemtothe fullsetofDirectX8.1.
