3.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.
The cardcontainssensitiveelectriccomponents,whichcan be easilydamaged bystatic
electricity,sothe cardshouldbe left initsoriginalpacking until itisinstalled.
Unpacking and installation shouldbe done on agrounded anti-staticmat. The operatorshould
be wearing an anti-staticwristband,grounded atthe samepointasthe anti-staticmat.
Inspectthe cardcarton forobviousdamage.Shipping and handling maycausedamage to
yourcard.Besuretherearenoshipping and handlingdamageson the cardbeforeproceeding.

Installing YourGraphics card.
Nowthatyou haveprepared yourcomputer,you arereadytoinstall yourgraphics
acceleratorcard.
To install yourgraphics acceleratorcard:
1.Poweroff thecomputerand monitor,then
disconnectthe displaycablefromtheback
ofyourcomputer.
2.Removethe computercover.Ifnecessary,
consultyourcomputer'smanualforhelp
inremovingthe cover.
3.Removeanyexisting graphics cardfrom
yourcomputer.
Or,ifyourcomputerhasanyon-board
graphics capability,you mayneed to
disableiton the motherboard.Formore
information,se e you compu ter
documentation.

4.LocatetheAGPslot. If necessary,remove
the metalcoverfromthisslot; then align
yourgraphics cardwiththe AGPslot, and
press itinfirmlyuntil thecardisfullyeated.

simple.When you insertthe driverCDintoyourCD-ROMdrive,you cansee theAUTORUN
window(ifitdoesnotshowup,run "D:\setup.exe").Then you can followguidestosetup
yourGV-R9000PROdriver(Pleasefollowthe subsection3.1.3"Step ByStep Installation"
toinstall the driverforyourGV-R9000 PROgraphics accelerator.
3.1.1.OPERATINGSYSTEMREQUIREMENT
lIf yourOSisMicrosoft Windows,when loading the GV-R9000 PROdriversforthe
system,pleasemakesureyoursystem(Windows98/98SE,Windows2000 or
WindowsME)hasinstalled DirectX8.1orlater.
lIf you install the GV-R9000 PROdriversforthe motherboard,whichconsistofSIS,
ALIorVIAchipsets,pleaseinstall the appropriateDriverprogramforthat
motherboard.OrpleasecontactyourmotherboardnearestdealerforM/BDriver.

Install Microsoft DirectX8.1toenable3Dhardwareacceleration supportforWindows®
98/98SE/Windows®2000/MEtoachievebetter3Dperformence.
MNote:ForsoftwareMPEGsupportinWindows®98/98SE/Windows®2000 or
Windows®ME,you mustinstall DirectX8.1(orlater) first. (If yourOSisWindows®XP,
pleaseskipthissection.)
1.Install DirectXDriver:
Click "Install DirectX8.1"Item.
3.Click "Yes"icon.
2.Click "Yes"icon.

AfterGV-R9000 PROisinserted intoyourcomputeratthe firsttime,the windows
will automaticallydetectanewhardwareinthe systemand pop outa"New
HardwareFound"message.Pleaseselect"Donotinstall adriver"and press OK.
Step2:UpdateDevice DriverWizard:StandardPCIGraphics Adapter(VGA)
Step3:UpdateDevice DriverWizard:Finish
Atthistime,systemwill ask foryourWindowsCD inordertocompletethe VGA
driverinstallation.
If you don'thavethe CD,you can press C:\Windows\Systemdirectory.
Step4:SystemSetting Change
1.Click "Next"icon.
MDon'tclick "Cancel",because the
systemwill hang ifyou press it.
2.Click "Finish"icon.

Afterthe systemhasfinished loading,insertthe GV-R9000 PROdriverCD disk
intoyourCD-ROM,and then you can see the AUTORUN window.If itdoesnot
