2.HardwareInstallation
Expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.Toprotect
themagainstdamage fromstaticelectricity,you shouldfollowsomeprecautions
wheneveryou workon yourcomputer.
1.Turnoff yourcomputerand unplug powersupply.
2.Useagrounded wriststrap beforehandling computercomponents.If you do nothaveone,
touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchasthe power
supplycase.
3.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron the bag thatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.
The cardcontainssensitiveelectriccomponents,whichcan be easilydamaged bystatic
electricity,sothe cardshouldbe left initsoriginalpacking until itisinstalled.
Unpacking and installation shouldbe done on agrounded anti-staticmat.The operatorshould
be wearing an anti-staticwristband,grounded atthe samepointasthe anti-staticmat.
Inspectthe cardcarton forobviousdamage.Shipping and handling maycausedamage to
yourcard.Besuretherearenoshipping andhandling damagesonthecardbeforeproceeding.
DONOTAPPLYPOWERTOYOURSYSTEMIFITHASBEENDAMAGEDONTHECARD.
Inordertoensureyourgraphics cardworkingcorrectly,please useofficialGigabyte

2.3.Hardwareinstallation
InstallingYourgraphics card.
Nowthatyou haveprepared yourcomputer,you arereadytoinstall yourgraphics
acceleratorcard.
To install yourgraphics acceleratorcard:
1.Poweroff the computerand monitor,then
disconnectthedisplaycablefromtheback
ofyourcomputer.
2.Removethecomputercover.Ifnecessary,
consultyourcomputer'smanualforhelp
inremoving the cover.
3.Removeanyexisting graphics cardfrom
yourcomputer.
Or,ifyourcomputerhasanyon-board
graphics capability,you mayneed to
disableiton the motherboard.Formore
information,see yourcomputer
documentation.

4.LocatetheAGPslot.Ifnecessary,remove
the metalcoverfromthisslot; then align
yourgraphics cardwiththeAGPslot, and
pressitinfirmlyuntilthecardisfullyeated.
5.Replacethe screwtofasten the cardin
place,and replacethe computercover.
6.Plugthedisplaycableintoyourcard;then
turnon the computerand monitor.If your
graphics cardcamewithaDVIconnector,
youcanconnectaflatpaneldisplaytothe
appropriateconnector,asshownbelow...
Youarenowreadytoproceedwiththeinstallationofthegraphics carddriver.Fordetailed
instructions,selectyouroperating systemfromthe listbelow.

Inthismanual, weassumethatyourCD-ROMDrive lettertobeDrive D:
Theinstallation ofWin®98/98SE/Win®2000/Win®ME/Win®XPdriversisverysimple.
When you insertthe driverCD intoyourCD-ROMdrive,you can see the AUTORUN
window(ifitdoesnotshowup,run "D:\setup.exe").Then you can followthe guidesto
setup yourgraphics carddriver.(Pleasefollowthe subsection 3.1.3"Driverinstallation"
toinstall the driverforyourgraphics accelerator.)
3.1.Win®XP driverand utilities installation
3.1.1.Operating systemrequirement
•When loading the graphics carddriversforthe system,pleasemakesureyour
systemhasinstalled DirectX9orlaterversion.
•If you install the graphics carddriversforthe motherboard,whichconsistofSIS,
VIAchipsets,pleaseinstall the appropriatedriverprogramforthatmotherboard.
Orpleasecontactyourmotherboardnearestdealerformotherboarddriver.

Install Microsoft DirectXtoenable3Dhardwareacceleration supportforWindows®98/
98SE/Windows®2000/Windows®MEorWindows®XPtoachievebetter3Dperformence.
MNote:ForsoftwareMPEGsupportinWindows®98/98SE/Windows®2000/Windows®
MEorWindows®XP,youmustinstall DirectXfirst.
Click "Install DirectX9"item.
Step2.ChooseIaccepttheagreementand
Click "Next"button.
Step 3.Click "Next"button.
Step 1.When autorun windowshowup,
click Install DirectX9item.

Afterthe graphics cardisinserted intoyourcomputeratthe firsttime,the windowswill
automaticallydetectanewhardwareinthe systemandpopouta"NewHardwareFound"
message.The following isthe step-by-step installation guide.
Step1:Found newhardwarewizard:Videocontroller(VGACompatible)
Step2:Found newhardwarewizard:Searching and installing
The wizardwill searchforthe driverand install itautomatically.
Step3:Found newhardwarewizard:Finish
Click the "Finish"button tofinishthe installation.
Click "Next"button toinstall the driver.(Thereis
adriverCD disk thatcamewithyourgraphics
accelerator,pleaseinsertitnow.)
Orclick the "Cancel"button toinstall the driver
fromAUTORUN window.

InsertthedriverCDdiskintoyourCD-ROM,andthenyoucanseetheAUTORUNwindow.

You mayclick the "DisplayProperties"item,and then click Settings.Click "Advanced"
afterclickng Settings.Click the appropriatetab tochange yourdisplaysettings.
