Thank you for trusting in us and for buying a GLA-WEL product!

theft.
DOG-Sport Trailers by GLA-WEL are solely built for being used in dog sports and for transporting
dogs. If you use the trailer in any other way than this, GLA-WEL does not assume liability in case of
damage.
Before travelling and starting each trip, please always ensure that all locks of the interior and exterior
doors are safely locked and completely snapped in (usually, you can clearly hear a soft clicking noise
when a lock snaps in)
Before each trip please check brakes and light functions. You are not allowed to drive with a trailer
that is technically not working.
3 External Documents
If your DOG-Sport Trailer has been provided with purchased parts, documents and guarantee information of
these manufacturers apply.
4 Registration
Registration of your trailer is regulated by country. Please ensure to ask for information about registration
and where to get it. If you want to drive your trailer in Germany, make sure you get all relevant information
about registration and insurance. Moreover, you need to be in possession of a valid driving license.
5 Vehicle Data, Vehicle Identification
Technical information of your DOG-Sport Trailer can be found in the vehicle documents and on the
identification plate on the right front site of your trailer.
6 Inspection Intervals, Main Inspection (= e.g. GB: MOT)
Please note the following check-up intervals.
Inspection of tyres: Once a year; after changing the tyres, the wheel bolts have to be checked and fastened
after 40-50 km driving. Please check tyre tread for any exterior damage, foreign particles and cracks. Please
ensure that the depth of tyre tread is sufficient and according to the manufacturer’s regulations. By German
law a depth of at least 1.6 mm is prescribed. In winter depth of tyre tread should not be less than 3-4 mm. If
you register a car/trailer combination with 100 km/h speed limit, your trailer tyres must not be older than 5
years; please note the information that is printed on your tyres: The manufacturing date usually is printed on
the side of your tyres and is indicated as a DOT-number with 4 digits that represent the calendar week and
year of manufacturing, for example DOT 1609 = calendar week 16, year 2009.
Inspection of wheel bolts: Please frequently check the wheel bolts –we recommend every 3 months,
especially when you are travelling often on demanding, damaged and winding roads.
Inspection of brakes and accumulating mechanisms: once a year; before each trip please check, if brakes
and accumulating mechanisms work properly.
Main Inspection (MOT): Please have your trailer checked according to the prescribed MOT regulations and
checking intervals.
Grease coupling head (grease gun): Please frequently grease the coupling head of your trailer. We
recommend greasing every 10.000 km or once every 6 months.
The accumulating mechanism at minimum should be greased twice a year. Concerning the next coming
inspection, we recommend to define the average coupling head height of the mainly used pulling vehicles
and then to adjust the trailers average coupling head height accordingly. By this you will gain a much better
road performance of your trailer and you can reduce wear and tear of your wheel brakes.
Any inspections and any inspection that is done to prepare a transfer of your trailer to a new owner always
should be executed in a specialized company!
►Provided that you can bring us your trailer, the first inspection of your new trailer by GLA-WEL is

free of charge. All further check-ups will be charged. We recommend bringing in your trailer for a
check-up procedure at GLA-WEL once a year.
7 Bringing us your Dog-Sport Trailer for Maintenance Works, Technical
Amendments or other Works that you wish for
If you bring us your DOG-Sport Trailer, for example for having maintenance or repair works carried out,
please leave it with us in a proper state and completely cleaned. Provided that your trailer is clean and well
prepared, all works can be carried out immediately and without unnecessary delay.
Empty all storage compartments: Please remove all loose items and personal belongings, i. e. rubber mats,
blankets, toys from the storage box, the storage roof and from all other storage compartments. We cannot
guarantee for lost items after your trailer has been returned to you.
Basic cleaning: Clean your trailer thoroughly from the inside and outside before handing it over to us. Please
only wash your trailer in a vehicle-washing-box or at a service station where residuals can be disposed of
properly.
►If a trailer is dirty and must be cleaned by us, we reserve the right to charge you with a minimum
one-off lump sum of 57 Euros.
Please be fair: Damage claims that may occur cannot be fully accepted, if a DOG-Sport Trailer visibly has
not been treated according to our recommendations for proper maintenance and cleaning.
Our staff gratefully appreciates your understanding and support in this!
II. Technical Information
1 Battery
The battery contacts have to be greased with pole fat or grease to protect them from corrosion. During
longer parking intervals the charger should be connected to the battery to maintain fresh trickle charging.
Please follow the instructions of the battery manufacturer. Always protect the battery (batteries), switches,
and the operating panel from humidity and keep the roof storage closed in bad weather conditions. The roof
storage must be aired regularly to keep the interior dry.
2 Electricity
13-pole plug-in connectors are standard. The ISO-Norm-regulation ISO 11446 regulates the allocation of the
different contacts and must not be changed (except non-allocated Poles of the 13-Pole plug-in connectors).
1-7 are valid for both types of plug-in connectors, 7-pole and 13-pole. Cable colours, if possible, always
should apply to those fixed in the regulations. This means that in some cases other colours or uses of
colours may occur.

3 Operating panel in the roof storage, cooling system
Protect the operating panel in the roof storage from humidity, rain or spray water at any time! Keep the roof
storage closed in bad weather conditions!
Trailers with a cooling system in the roof storage: The cooling system –in any type of weather condition! –
must only be operated while the roof storage is closed!
III. Driving and „Loading“ your Trailer correctly
Stick to the prescribed bearing load. Please ensure a uniform distribution of the trailer load.
1 Speed Limit
Please stick to the prescribed speed limit.
2 Coupling Head
Elastic coupling (specialized trailers): The coupling head on the vehicle must always be clean and free of
grease, oil and rust; please clean with denatured alcohol/spirit. Please ensure that the coupling head is fully
snapped in before driving!
Security coupling rope: Before starting your road trip you must check if the security rope is securely fastened
and slipped over the coupling head completely (when the coupling is stationary). When the coupling is
removable you must always use the eyelet to hook in the security rope. If there is an eyelet you must use it
in Germany –this is prescribed by German law.
IV. Parking Times
1 Decoupling your trailer, securing your trailer with carrying wheel and parking brake
The parking brake, comparable to the recommended use of a parking brake in a car, should only be used if
absolutely necessary. Because sticky brake linings may cause severe blockage or wear and tear of brakes.
2 Long-term Parking
When the trailer is parked for a longer time, e. g. several weeks in a row, the wheels should be supported by
active use of the crank supports (if available) in order to avoid flat or deformed tyres. Moreover, we
recommend jacking up the axis completely by using additional props.
V. Cleaning, general Caretaking, Care of Varnish
1 Initial easily removable Rust
The high corrosion resistance of stainless steel is based on building a chrome oxide layer of around a
thousandth millimeter thickness. This so called passive layer is very thin but rebuilds itself continuously when
the steel surface is in contact with oxygen. In most cases this is enough protection to guarantee that most
mechanical impacts, disturbances or violation of the surfaces do not leave visible traces. The finer the
surface, the better is its protection against corrosion.
However, outdoors dirt, environmental pollution, dust and so forth in combination with initial easily removable
rust can stick to the surface; one could easily and wrongly assume that this may be real rust when it shows
on the surface. For example, if metal industry, the ocean or other saltwater sources are located nearby. The
reasons for initial easily removable rust are particles of ferrite origins.
These superficial traces can be easily removed. We recommend, in addition, to frequently clean the trailer
and to use a special stainless steel care- and maintenance spray for cleaning all stainless steel parts of your
trailer. Dirty dog paws, too, may leave traces on stainless steel.

1.1 Effect-Paints
Coatings with so-called effect-paints that cause a metallic or pearl-effect look of the painted surfaces are
very popular. However, these paint surfaces are more sensitive than surfaces of standard coatings.
Therefore, traces of use can be seen faster and easier. Concerning the maintenance of these metallic paint
surfaces when wear and tear damages need be reworked, cost for this is usually comparably higher. The
reason for this is that the painting process with metallic or pearl effect paints is more complicated and
therefore more expensive than with standard coatings.
Tiny inclusions and irregularities in the paint surface may occur. For all irregularities, shadows, inclusions or
"grains" that are not visible from a minimum viewing distance of 1 m from the dog trailer, you cannot claim
damage compensation.
Aggressive dirt: Aggressive dirty bird droppings, pollen, tree sap are aggressive and attack painted surfaces
within a short time. Please remove these contaminants, especially bird droppings, immediately! Stubborn
stains can best be removed by covering the stains first with a damp cloth to let them soak. Please do not use
ice scrapers, brushes or similar hard, mechanical cleaners when cleaning your DOG-Sport Trailer.
Rockfall: Rockfall is inevitable. When the paint is damaged by stones, even when the damage is tiny, the
affected area should be repainted immediately! At critical points such as the trailer front, you could apply
special foil on the surfaces for extra precaution, of course; at your wish, we can apply this foil for you (at a
small extra cost).
For damage due to dust, rocks, bird droppings and similar soils naturally depraved, GLA-WEL
cannot accept any liability or claims for damages.
2 Cleaning your Trailer the right Way
The dog trailer should be cleaned on a regular basis. Make sure you remove salt and dirt and seal your
trailer, ideally by applying wax. A mild cleaner, for example a mild soap, is sufficient. Please avoid aggressive
cleaning liquids or corrosive cleaning substances. Any time you are cleaning your trailer you may cause
environmental damage. For this reason please only wash your trailer in a vehicle-washing-box or at a service
station where residuals can be disposed of properly.
Operating panel: While cleaning your trailer with water, for example if you chose to use a high-pressure
cleaner, keep the roof storage closed at all times. Protect the operating panel from spray water! We strongly
advise against using high-pressure cleaners, steam cleaners, chemical detergents or mechanical or
automatic brushes for cleaning your trailer. This could cause damages to sensitive mechanical and electrical
parts. Also, labels and lettering could suffer damages from using such cleaners –it cannot be ruled out that
stickers and lettering foils could be damaged, or become detached from surfaces!
Also ensure to solely use mild and animal friendly disinfection liquids that agree to your animal’s health.
Please contact your vet for more information on disinfection liquids.
All stainless steel building parts should be taken care of by using a special stainless steel care- and
maintenance spray, at least after each washing of your trailer.
If the varnish gets damaged, for example by falling rocks, those areas have to be repaired and varnished as
soon as possible.
GLA-WEL only uses high quality foils and labels for advertising on your trailers. If you apply stickers, any
other form of sticky labels and writing for advertising to the trailer yourself, please be aware of the fact that
some manufacturers of these items use aggressive gum that could damage the surface of your dog trailer.
GLA-WEL does not assume liability for these damages.

3 Locks and Latches
Before starting your trip, check every interior and exterior door and make sure that all locks and latches are
locked completely; if necessary, please adjust the latches of the interior doors.
Before opening a door, in general, check if latches are lose and open.
Lubricate locks and bolts regularly with a multi-function oil.
4 Ventilation Flaps and Grids, Absorbers
Please do not move these wear parts by force. Normally, they can be moved effortlessly. When it is cold and
temperatures are below zero, the flaps may freeze shut: In this case, to avoid damage of the rubber seals,
please apply the proper maintenance rules (comp. No. 5 Rubber Seals below). Do not pull open the flaps
forcefully, the rubber seals could get ripped!
5 Rubber Seals
All rubber seals and locks should be regularly rubbed or sprayed with silicone spray. Graphite powder is
recommendable to keep the rubber seals smooth.
6 Switches
Frequently check all light switches and ventilation switches and make sure that all ventilators are free from
any foreign particles that may cause blockage and that may hinder the switches from performing smoothly.
VI. Climate, Ventilation
The DOG-Sport Trailers should be ventilated sufficiently during travel. When parking the trailer, open all
ventilation flaps, if possible, ideally in good weather, and always ensure good ventilation in general, even
when no dogs are inside the trailer. Also open the exterior doors whenever possible.
The rubber mats and wooden sleeping boards smell less and last longer when you clean them on a regular
basis and keep them dry, especially when you use your trailer in bad weather conditions.
Thank you for your trust and for choosing a DOG-sport dog trailer. To ensure that you can fully enjoy this
product for a long time, please note above information.
Drive safely at all times!
