General Safety

WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and

instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

WARNING: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with

reduced, physical or mental capabilities or lack of experience or knowledge unless they

have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person

responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with

the appliance.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or

battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

1) Work area safety

a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.

b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of

flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or

fumes.

c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause

you to lose control.

2) Electrical safety

a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use

any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching

outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges

and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or

grounded.

c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will

increase the risk of electric shock.

d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power

tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled

cords increase the risk of electric shock.

e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.

Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current

device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

3) Personal safety

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power

tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs,

alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in

serious personal injury.

b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment

such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate

conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before

connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.

Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the

switch on invites accidents.

d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key

left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better

control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and

gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in

moving parts.

g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities,

ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-

related hazards.

4) Power tool use and care

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct

power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that

cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool

before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such

preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar

with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are

dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of

parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged,

have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained

power tools.

f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting

edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions,

taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the

power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

5) Service

a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical

replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Hobby Tool Safety

a) This power tool is intended to function as a grinder, sander, wire brush, polisher,

carving or cut-off tool. Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and

specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed

below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

b) Do not use accessories which are not specifically designed and recommended by

the tool manufacturer. Just because the accessory can be attached to your power tool, it

does not assure safe operation.

c) The rated speed of the grinding accessories must be at least equal to the maximum

speed marked on the power tool. Grinding accessories running faster than their rated

speed can break and fly apart.

d) The outside diameter and the thickness of your accessory must be within the capacity

rating of your power tool. Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be adequately controlled.

e) The arbour size of wheels, sanding drums or any other accessory must properly

fit the spindle or collet of the power tool. Accessories that do not match the mounting

hardware of the power tool will run out of balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss

of control.

f) Mandrel mounted wheels, sanding drums, cutters or other accessories must be fully

inserted into the collet or chuck. If the mandrel is insufficiently held and/or the overhang of

the wheel is too long, the mounted wheel may become loose and be ejected at high velocity.

g) Do not use a damaged accessory. Before each use inspect the accessory such as

abrasive wheels for chips and cracks, sanding drum for cracks, tear or excess wear,

wire brush for loose or cracked wires. If power tool or accessory is dropped, inspect for

damage or install an undamaged accessory. After inspecting and installing an

accessory, position yourself and bystanders away from the plane of the rotating

accessory and run the power tool at maximum no-load speed for one minute. Damaged

accessories will normally break apart during this test time.

h) Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on application, use face shield, safety

goggles or safety glasses. As appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves

and workshop apron capable of stopping small abrasive or workpiece fragments. The

eye protection must be capable of stopping flying debris generated by various operations. The

dust mask or respirator must be capable of filtrating particles generated by your operation.

Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.

i) Keep bystanders a safe distance away from work area. Anyone entering the work

area must wear personal protective equipment. Fragments of workpiece or of a broken

accessory may fly away and cause injury beyond immediate area of operation.

j) Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, when performing an operation

where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting

accessory contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live"

and could give the operator an electric shock.

k) Always hold the tool firmly in your hand(s) during the start-up. The reaction torque of

the motor, as it accelerates to full speed, can cause the tool to twist.

l) Use clamps to support workpiece whenever practical. Never hold a small workpiece

in one hand and the tool in the other hand while in use. Clamping a small workpiece

allows you to use your hand(s) to control the tool. Round material such as dowel rods,

pipes or tubing have a tendency to roll while being cut, and may cause the bit to bind or

jump toward you.

m) Position the cord clear of the spinning accessory. If you lose control, the cord may be

cut or snagged and your hand or arm may be pulled into the spinning accessory.

n) Never lay the power tool down until the accessory has come to a complete stop.

The spinning accessory may grab the surface and pull the power tool out of your control.

o) After changing the bits or making any adjustments, make sure the collet nut, chuck

or any other adjustment devices are securely tightened. Loose adjustment devices

can unexpectedly shift, causing loss of control, loose rotating components will be violently

thrown.

p) Do not run the power tool while carrying it at your side. Accidental contact with the

spinning accessory could snag your clothing, pulling the accessory into your body.

q) Regularly clean the power tool's air vents. The motor's fan will draw the dust inside the

housing and excessive accumulation of powdered metal may cause electrical hazards.

r) Do not operate the power tool near flammable materials. Sparks could ignite these

materials.

s) Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. Using water or other liquid coolants

may result in electrocution or shock.

t) Use completely unrolled and safe extension cords with a capacity of 5 Amps at least.

Kickback Safety

Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel, sanding band,

brush or any other accessory. Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotating

accessory which in turn causes the uncontrolled power tool to be forced in the direction

opposite of the accessory's rotation. For example, if an abrasive wheel is snagged or

pinched by the workpiece, the edge of the wheel that is entering into the pinch point

can dig into the surface of the material causing the wheel to climb out or kick out. The

wheel may either jump toward or away from the operator, depending on direction of

the wheel's movement at the point of pinching. Abrasive wheels may also break under

these conditions. Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/or incorrect operating

procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below.

a) Maintain a firm grip on the power tool and position your body and arm to allow you to

resist kickback forces. The operator can control kickback forces, if proper precautions are

taken.

b) Use special care when working corners, sharp edges etc. Avoid bouncing and

snagging the accessory. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a tendency to snag the

rotating accessory and cause loss of control or kickback.

c) Do not attach a toothed saw blade. Such blades create frequent kickback and loss of

control.

d) Always feed the bit into the material in the same direction as the cutting edge is exiting

from the material (which is the same direction as the chips are thrown). Feeding the tool

in the wrong direction causes the cutting edge of the bit to climb out of the work and pull the

tool in the direction of this feed.

e) When using rotary files, cut-off wheels, high-speed cutters or tungsten carbide cutters,

always have the work securely clamped. These wheels will grab if they become slightly

canted in the groove, and can kickback. When a cut-off wheel grabs, the wheel itself usually

breaks. When a rotary file, high-speed cutter or tungsten carbide cutter grabs, it may jump

from the groove and you could lose control of the tool.

Safety for Grinding and Abrasive Cutting-off

Operations

a) Use only wheel types that are recommended for your power tool and only for

recommended applications. For example: do not grind with the side of a cut-off

wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels are intended for peripheral grinding, side forces applied to

these wheels may cause them to shatter.

b) For threaded abrasive cones and plugs use only undamaged wheel mandrels with

an unrelieved shoulder flange that are of correct size and length. Proper mandrels

will reduce the possibility of breakage.

c) Do not "jam" a cut-off wheel or apply excessive pressure. Do not attempt to make an

excessive depth of cut. Overstressing the wheel increases the loading and susceptibility to

twisting or snagging of the wheel in the cut and the possibility of kickback or wheel breakage.

d) Do not position your hand in line with and behind the rotating wheel. When the wheel, at

the point of operation, is moving away from your hand, the possible kickback may propel the

spinning wheel and the power tool directly at you.

e) When wheel is pinched, snagged or when interrupting a cut for any reason, switch

off the power tool and hold the power tool motionless until the wheel comes to a

complete stop. Never attempt to remove the cut-off wheel from the cut while the

wheel is in motion otherwise kickback may occur. Investigate and take corrective

action to eliminate the cause of wheel pinching or snagging.

f) Do not restart the cutting operation in the workpiece. Let the wheel reach full speed

and carefully re-enter the cut. The wheel may bind, walk up or kickback if the power tool

is restarted in the workpiece.

g) Support panels or any oversized workpiece to minimize the risk of wheel pinching

and kickback. Large workpieces tend to sag under their own weight. Supports must be

placed under the workpiece near the line of cut and near the edge of the workpiece on

both sides of the wheel.

h) Use extra caution when making a "pocket cut" into existing walls or other blind areas.

The protruding wheel may cut gas or water pipes, electrical wiring or objects that can cause

kickback.

Safety Warnings for Wire Brush Operation

a. Be aware that wire bristles are thrown by the brush even during ordinary operation.

Do not overstress the wires by applying excessive load to the brush. The wire bristles

can easily penetrate light clothing and/or skin.

b. Allow brushes to run at operating speed for at least one minute before using them.

During this time no one is to stand in front or in line with the brush. Loose bristles or

wires will be discharged during the run-in time.

c. Direct the discharge of the spinning wire brush away from you. Small particles and tiny

wire fragments may be discharged at high velocity during the use of these brushes and may

become imbedded in your skin.

applications in domestic craft work

Unpacking Your Tool

• Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and

functions

• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or

damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool

Before Use

WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or

changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.

Collet installation

WARNING: ALWAYS fit the correct collet that precisely matches the shaft diameter of the

accessory you wish to use.

Note: This hobby tool is supplied with four Collets (2) in order to fit accessories with different shaft

diameters (see ‘Specification’).

1. Remove the Collet Nut (1) by depressing the Spindle Lock Button (4) and rotating it

anticlockwise until it can be removed from the spindle

Note: It may be necessary to use the supplied Collet Spanner to loosen the Collet Nut.

2. Remove the brass Collet, and replace with a Collet of the required size

3. Refit the Collet Nut, depress the spindle lock button and rotate the Collet Nut clockwise, to

secure it on the spindle

Changing accessories

WARNING: Ensure the tool is switched off and disconnected from the power supply before

fitting or removing accessories.

1. Loosen the Collet Nut (1) by depressing the Spindle Lock Button (4) and rotating the Collet Nut

anticlockwise

Note: It may be necessary to use the supplied Collet Spanner to loosen the Collet Nut.

2. Place the accessory required into the Collet (2)

WARNING: Ensure the correct Collet for the accessory shaft diameter has been fitted.

3. Depress the Spindle Lock Button and rotate the Collet Nut clockwise to secure the accessory

in the Collet

WARNING: Never fit an attachment with a maximum speed lower than the no load speed of

the machine.

Fitting a sanding sleeve

1. Loosen the small screw in the top of the rubber drum (accessory pack) so that the rubber

slackens

2. Slide the sanding sleeve (accessory pack) onto the drum

3. Retighten the screw so that the sanding sleeve is secured in position (do not over-tighten)

Fitting a cutting/sanding disc

1. Loosen the Collet Nut (1) and insert the cutting/sanding disc mandrel into the Collet (2). Re-

tighten the Collet Nut to secure in position

2. Use the spanner to remove the fixing screw from the end of the cutting/sanding disk mandrel

3. Thread the screw through the centre hole of the cutting/sanding disc, then screw the fixing

screw back into the mandrel to secure the cutting/sanding disc in position for use (do not

over-tighten)

Attaching the flexible shaft

Note: The 3.2mm Collet (2) will need to remain in the tool in order to secure the Flexible Shaft’s

(9) inner cable. Securing the cable in place remains the same process as securing an accessory in

the tool. An additional 3.2mm Collet is included.

1. Remove the Collet Cover (3)

2. Depress the Spindle Lock Button (4) and loosen the Collet Nut (1) using the supplied Collet

Spanner

3. Insert the inner cable of the Flexible Shaft (9) as far as it will go into the Collet (2)

4. Re-tighten the Collet Nut (1) to secure the cable

5. Rotate the Shaft Lock Ring (10) clockwise to thread it onto the tool housing. Hand tighten only

6. Pull back the collet cover at the opposite end of the flexible shaft to expose the collet

7. Use the spanner in the way described in ‘Changing accessories’ to fit an accessory beneath

the Shaft Collet Nut (11)

WARNING. When operating, do not bend the flexible shaft to a radius of less than 150 mm (6”).

Store the flexible shaft carefully when not in use

Operation

WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing protection, as

well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.

Switching on and off

1. Start the hobby tool by moving the On/Off Switch (8) to the 'I' position

2. Stop the tool by moving the switch to the '0' position

Adjusting tool speed

WARNING: ALWAYS set the speed according to the requirements of the accessory fitted and

the material of the workpiece.

• Use the Variable Speed Dial (6) to control the rotation speed

Note: The higher the number on the dial the faster the spindle rotates.

Handling

WARNING: Always ensure the workpiece is adequately secured using clamps and/or a vice at all

times. Do not attempt to use this tool without sufficiently securing the workpiece first.

• Hold the tool securely, keeping hands well away from rotating parts. For most purposes, it is

most convenient to grip the tool as though it is a pen

• If possible hold the tool with both hands when performing cutting operations

• Practice using the tool with scrap material before starting a job. Be aware that different

accessories will require different techniques, and may require different speed settings

• Applying excess pressure does not result in faster or more efficient performance. If the

pressure applied to the tool has a noticeable effect on the speed of the tool then reduce the

pressure. Overloading the tool will reduce its service life

• Always ensure that material is secure. If appropriate use a vice or clamp to hold the work

Maintenance

WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any inspection,

maintenance or cleaning.

General inspection

• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight

• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs should be

carried out by an authorised GMC service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords

used with this tool

Cleaning

WARNING: ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when

cleaning this tool.

• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and

shorten the device’s service life

• Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth

• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, a mild detergent

on a damp cloth is recommended

• Water must never come into contact with the tool

• Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it

Specificaties

WAARSCHUWING: Bij een geluidsintensiteit van 85 dB(A) of hoger is het dragen van

gehoorbescherming en het limiteren van de blootstellingstijd vereist. Bij oncomfortabel hoge

geluidsniveaus, zelfs met het dragen van gehoorbescherming, stopt u het gebruik van de machine

onmiddellijk. Controleer de pasvorm en het geluiddempingsniveau van de bescherming.

WAARSCHUWING: Blootstelling aan trilling resulteert mogelijk in gevoelloosheid, tinteling en een

vermindert gripvermogen. Langdurige blootstelling kan leiden tot chronische condities. Limiteer

de blootstellingsduur en draag anti-vibratie handschoenen. Vibratie heeft een grotere invloed op

handen met een temperatuur lager dan een normale, comfortabele temperatuur. Maak gebruik

Algemene veiligheid voor elektrisch gereedschap

WAARSCHUWING Lees alle bediening- en veiligheidsvoorschriften. Het niet opvolgen van

alle voorschriften die hieronder vermeld staan, kan resulteren in een elektrische schok, brand en/

of ernstig letsel.

Bewaar deze voorschriften voor toekomstig gebruik.

De term “elektrisch gereedschap” in alle hieronder vermelde waarschuwingen heeft betrekking

op uw elektrische gereedschap dat op de stroom is aangesloten (met een snoer) of met een accu

wordt gevoed (snoerloos).

1) Veiligheid in de werkruimte

a) Houd de werkruimte schoon en zorg voor een goede verlichting. Rommelige en donkere

ruimtes leiden vaak tot ongelukken.

b) Werk niet met elektrisch gereedschap in explosieve omgevingen, bijvoorbeeld in de

aanwezigheid van ontvlambare vloeistoffen, gassen of stof. Elektrisch gereedschap

brengt vonken teweeg die stof of dampen kunnen doen ontbranden.

c) Houd kinderen en omstanders uit de buurt wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap bedient.

Door afleiding kunt u de controle over het gereedschap verliezen.

2) Elektrische veiligheid

a) De stekkers van het elektrische gereedschap moeten passen bij het stopcontact. Pas de

stekker niet aan. Gebruik geen adapterstekkers bij geaard elektrisch gereedschap. Het

gebruik van ongewijzigde stekkers en passende stopcontacten vermindert het risico op een

elektrische schok.

b) Vermijd lichamelijk contact met geaarde oppervlakken zoals pijpen, radiatoren,

fornuizen en koelkasten. Het risico op een elektrische schok neemt toe als uw lichaam

geaard wordt.

c) Laat elektrisch gereedschap niet nat worden. Wanneer elektrisch gereedschap nat wordt,

neemt het risico op een elektrische schok toe.

d) Beschadig het snoer niet. Gebruik het snoer nooit om het elektrisch gereedschap te

dragen, te trekken of om de stekker uit het stopcontact te trekken. Houd het snoer uit

de buurt van hitte, olie, scherpe randen of bewegende delen. Een beschadigd of in de

knoop geraakt snoeren verhoogt het risico op een elektrische schok toe.

e) Wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap buiten gebruikt, maak dan gebruik van een

verlengsnoer dat geschikt is voor gebruik buitenshuis. Gebruik een verlengsnoer dat

geschikt is voor gebruik buitenshuis om het risico op een elektrische schok te verminderen.

f) Indien het onvermijdelijk is elektrisch gereedschap te gebruiken in een vochtige

omgeving, gebruik dan een energiebron met een aardlek beveiliging (Residual Currency

Device). Het gebruik van een RCD vermindert het risico op een elektrische schok.

3) Persoonlijke veiligheid

a) Blijf alert en gebruik uw gezonde verstand wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap bedient.

Gebruik het elektrisch gereedschap niet wanneer u vermoeid bent of onder invloed

van drugs, alcohol of medicijnen. Onoplettendheid tijdens het bedienen van elektrisch

gereedschap kan leiden tot ernstig letsel.

b) Maak gebruik van persoonlijke bescherming. Draag altijd een veiligheidsbril. Passende

bescherming voor de omstandigheden, zoals een stofmasker, niet-slippende

veiligheidsschoenen een helm of gehoorbescherming, vermindert het risico op persoonlijk

letsel.

c) Zorg ervoor dat het apparaat niet per ongeluk wordt gestart. Controleer of de

schakelaar in de ‘uit’ stand staat voordat u de stekker in het stopcontact steekt. Het

dragen van elektrisch gereedschap met uw vinger op de schakelaar of het aansluiten op

de stroom van elektrisch gereedschap met de schakelaar ingeschakeld kan tot ongelukken

leiden.

d) Verwijder alle stel- of moersleutels voordat u het elektrische gereedschap inschakelt.

Een moer- of stelsleutel die zich op een draaiend onderdeel van het elektrische gereedschap

bevindt, kan leiden tot letsel.

e) Reik niet te ver. Blijf altijd stevig en in balans staan. Zo houdt u meer controle over het

elektrische gereedschap in onverwachte situaties.

f) Draag geschikte kleding. Draag geen loshangende kleding of sieraden. Houd haren,

kleding en handschoenen uit de buurt van bewegende delen. Loshangende kleding,

sieraden en los hangende haren kunnen vast komen te zitten in bewegende delen.

g) Als er onderdelen voor stofafvoer- en stofverzameling worden meegeleverd, sluit deze

dan aan en gebruik deze op de juiste wijze. Het gebruik van deze onderdelen kan het risico

op stof gerelateerde ongelukken verminderen.

4) Gebruik en verzorging van elektrisch gereedschap

a) Forceer elektrisch gereedschap niet. Gebruik elektrisch gereedschap dat geschikt is

voor het werk dat u wilt uitvoeren. Geschikt elektrisch gereedschap werkt beter en veiliger

op een passende snelheid.

b) Gebruik het elektrische gereedschap niet als de schakelaar het apparaat niet in- en

uitschakelt. Elektrisch gereedschap dat niet bediend kan worden met de schakelaar is

gevaarlijk en moet gerepareerd worden.

c) Haal de stekker uit het stopcontact voordat u instellingen aanpast, toebehoren

verwisselt of het elektrische gereedschap opbergt. Dergelijke voorzorgsmaatregelen

verminderen het risico op het per ongeluk starten van het elektrische gereedschap.

d) Berg elektrisch gereedschap dat niet in gebruik is op buiten bereik van kinderen en laat

mensen die niet bekend zijn met het elektrische gereedschap of met deze instructies

het elektrische gereedschap niet bedienen. Elektrisch gereedschap is gevaarlijk in de

handen van onervaren gebruikers.

e) Onderhoud uw elektrisch gereedschap. Controleer op foutieve uitlijning of het

vastslaan van bewegende delen, gebroken onderdelen en elke andere afwijking die

de werking van het elektrische gereedschap zou kunnen beïnvloeden. Indien het

elektrische gereedschap beschadigd is, moet u het laten repareren voordat u het

weer gebruikt. Veel ongelukken worden veroorzaakt door slecht onderhouden elektrisch

gereedschap.

f) Houd snijwerktuigen scherp en schoon. Goed onderhouden snijwerktuigen met scherpe

messen slaan minder snel vast en zijn gemakkelijker te bedienen.

g) Gebruik het elektrische gereedschap, toebehoren en onderdelen, etc. volgens deze

instructies en volgens bestemming voor het specifieke type elektrisch gereedschap, en

houd daarbij rekening met de werkomstandigheden en het uit te voeren werk. Gebruik

van elektrisch gereedschap voor werkzaamheden die verschillen van die waarvoor het

apparaat bestemd is, kan leiden tot gevaarlijke situaties.

5) Onderhoud

a) Laat uw elektrische gereedschap onderhouden door een gekwalificeerde vakman en

gebruik alleen identieke vervangstukken. Zo bent u er zeker van dat de veiligheid van het

elektrische gereedschap gewaarborgd blijft.

Veiligheid multifunctionele machines

a) De machine dient gebruikt te worden als slijp-, schuur-, draadborstel- en snijmachine.

Lees alle veiligheidswaarschuwingen en instructies van de machine door. Het niet

opvolgen van alle voorschriften die hieronder vermeld staan, kan resulteren in een elektrische

schok, brand en/of ernstig letsel.

b) Gebruik geen accessoires die niet ontworpen en aanbevolen zijn door de fabrikant.

Omdat een accessoire bevestigd kan worden wil niet zeggen dat het veilig gebruikt kan

worden

c) De maximale snelheid van het accessoire mag niet lager zijn dan de onbelaste snelheid

van de machine. Slijpaccessoires die sneller draaien dan de maximale snelheid breken

d) De buitendiameter en dikte van het accessoire dient binnen de capaciteit van de

machine te vallen. Accessoires met onjuiste afmetingen draaien ongecontroleerd op de as

e) De asgat diameter van wielen, schijven en andere accessoires dienen compatibel te zijn

met de machine. Accessoires die niet geschikt zijn voor de machine draaien ongebalanceerd,

trillen overmatig en zorgen mogelijk voor controleverlies

f) Accessoires met spandoorn dienen volledig in de spankop van de machine geplaatst te

worden. Wanneer de spandoorn niet volledig in de spankop geplaatst wordt, vliegt het

accessoire tijdens gebruik mogelijk op hoge snelheid uit de machine

g) Gebruik geen beschadigde accessoires. Controleer accessoires voor elk gebruik op

beschadiging en overmatige slijtage. Wanneer u de machine laat vallen controleert u

deze op schade. Na de bevestiging van een accessoire positioneert u uzelf en

omstanders uit de baan van het accessoire en laat u de machine voor enkele tijd

onbelast op maximale snelheid draaien. Beschadigde accessoires vallen tijdens deze test

normaal gesproken uit elkaar

h) Draag de geschikte beschermende uitrusting, waaronder een stofmasker,

veiligheidsbril, handschoenen, gehoorbescherming en een werkschort, passend bij

het uit te voeren werk. Gezichtsbescherming dient in staat te zijn rondvliegende deeltjes

te stoppen en het stofmasker dient de lucht te filteren van stofdeeltjes. Blootstelling aan

hoge geluidsniveaus resulteert mogelijk in gehoorbeschadiging

i) Houdt omstanders op veilige afstand. Personen die de werkruimte betreden dienen

de geschikte beschermende uitrusting te dragen. Rondvliegende werkstukdeeltjes of

accessoires leiden mogelijk tot serieus letsel

j) Houdt de machine bij de geïsoleerde handvaten vast wanneer het accessoire tijdens

gebruik in contact kan komen met verborgen stroomdraden. Wanneer het accessoire een

stroomsnoer raakt, komt de machine mogelijk onder stroom te staan wat de gebruiker mogelijk

een elektrische schok geeft

k) Houdt de machine bij het starten extra stevig vast. De kracht die vrijkomt bij de

acceleratie doet de machine mogelijk roteren

l) Zet het werkstuk wanneer mogelijk met klemmen vast. Houdt kleine werkstukken niet

met de ene hand vast terwijl u de machine met de nadere hand bedient. Klem het

werkstuk vast om de machine met beide handen onder controle te houden. Ronde

voorwerpen rollen tijdens het bewerken mogelijk weg, wat erg gevaarlijk kan zijn

m) Houdt het stroomsnoer uit de buurt van het roterende accessoire. Wanneer u de controle

over de machine verliest word het snoer mogelijk gegrepen en wordt uw hand mogelijk in het

accessoire getrokken

n) Laat het accessoire volledig tot stilstand komen voordat u de machine neerlegt. Met

een roterend accessoire draait de machine mogelijk uit controle

o) Zorg ervoor dat de ashals moer of spankop na het wisselen van een accessoire goed

vastgedraaid zijn. Een losse ashals moer of spankop resulteert mogelijk in controleverlies en

losschietende accessoires

p) wanneer u de machine langs u houdt, dient deze uitgeschakeld te zijn. Het roterende

accessoire kan uw kleding grijpen waardoor het accessoire mogelijk in uw lichaam getrokken

wordt

q) Maak de ventilatiegaten van de machine regelmatig schoon. De motorventilator zuigt het

stof in de behuizing wat mogelijk resulteert in elektrische gevaren

r) Gebruik de machine niet in de buurt van ontvlambare materialen. Vonken kunnen deze

materialen ontsteken

s) Gebruik geen accessoires die vloeibare koelstoffen vereisen. Het gebruik van vloeibare

koelstoffen resulteert mogelijk in elektrische schok

t) Maak enkel gebruik van volledig uitgerolde verlengsnoeren met een minimale capaciteit

van 5 A

Terugslag veiligheid

Terugslag is een plotselinge reactie op een vastlopend, geforceerd of een foute uitlijning

van een accessoire. De machine wordt hierbij in de tegenovergestelde richting van het

roterende accessoire geforceerd. Vb.: Wanneer een slijpwiel door het werkstuk gegrepen

wordt, graaft de snij rand in het werkstuk waardoor het wiel uit het werkstuk geschoten

wordt, mogelijk in de richting van de gebruiker. Bij terugslag breken wielen mogelijk.

Terugslag is het gevolg van misbruik en/of onjuiste gebruiksprocedures of –

omstandigheden, en kan voorkomen worden door het volgen van de volgende

voorzorgsmaatregelen

a) Houd de machine met beide handen stevig vast en positioneer uw armen zo, dat

terugslag tegengewerkt kan worden. Door het nemen van de juiste voorzorgsmaatregelen

kunnen terugslagkrachten door de gebruiker onder controle gehouden worden

b) Ben extra voorzichtig bij het werken op hoeken, scherpe randen, etc. Voorkom

het stoten van het accessoire. Het stoten van het accessoires remt het accessoire af

wat mogelijk resulteert in controleverlies of terugslag

c) Bevestig geen getand zaagblad. Deze zaagbladen zorgen vaak voor controleverlies en

terugslag

d) Voed het accessoire in dezelfde richting als waar de snede gecreëerd wordt (dezelfde

richting als waar het afval in afgeworpen wordt). Wanneer de machine in de andere richting

gevoed wordt, klimt het accessoire uit de snede en wordt de machine in deze richting

getrokken

e) Bij het gebruik van vijlen, snijwielen en hardmetalen bladen dient u het werkstuk vast te

klemmen. Bij het gebruik van deze accessoires is de kans op terugslag erg groot. Wanneer

een snijwiel gegrepen wordt, breekt het. Wanneer een vijl, hoge snelheidsschijf of hardmetalen

blad gegrepen wordt, springt het mogelijk uit de groef waardoor u de controle over de machine

verliest

Veiligheid voor slijp- en snijwerkzaamheden

a) Maak enkel gebruik van slijp-/snijwielen die geschikt zijn voor gebruik met de

machine en voor het uit te voeren werk. Slijp bijvoorbeeld niet met de zijkant van

een snijwiel. Schurende snijwielen zijn enkel geschikt voor omtrekslijpen. Bij een te hoge

zij-druk breken deze wielen

b) Voor slijpkoppen met schroefdraadbevestiging maakt u enkel gebruik van

onbeschadigde spandoorns met de juiste maat en lengte. De juiste spandoorn

minimaliseert de kans op wielbreuk

c) Oefen niet te veel druk op wielen uit en maak de snede niet te diep. Een overmatige

druk verhoogt de last op het wiel wat mogelijk resulteert in het klemmen, draaien of breken van

het wiel en terugslag

d) Plaats uw hand niet in lijn met het roterende wiel. Wanneer het wiel van uw hand af

beweegt, trekt mogelijke terugslag het wiel en de machine op hoge snelheid terug in de

richting van uw hand

e) Wanneer het wiel in het werkstuk klemt of wanneer het werk onderbroken dient te

worden, schakelt u de machine uit en houdt u de machine stil tot het wiel volledig tot

stilstand gekomen is. Verwijder het roterende wiel niet uit het werkstuk waar dit

mogelijk resulteert in terugslag. Neem corrigerende maatregelen om de kans op terugslag

te minimaliseren

f) Start de machine niet met het wiel in het werkstuk. Laat het wiel op volledige snelheid

komen voordat deze in contact komt met het werkstuk. Zo minimaliseert u de kans op

klemmen en terugslag

g) Ondersteun grote werkstukken om de kans op klemmen en terugslag te minimaliseren.

Grote werkstukken kunnen onder hun eigen gewicht buigen. Ondersteun het werkstuk onder,

en dicht bij de snede aan beide zijde van het wiel en aan de randen van het werkstuk

h) Ben uiterst voorzichtig bij het maken van invalsneden in muren of andere blinde

plekken. Het wiel doorboort mogelijk in gas-/waterleidingen en snijdt mogelijk in stroomdraden

of vreemde voorwerpen wat kan resulteren in terugslag

Draadborstel veiligheid

a) Haren van een staalborstel komen tijdens gebruik los. Oefen niet te veel druk op de

borstel uit om overbelasting te voorkomen. De huid en dunne kleding wordt gemakkelijk

door de haren doorboord

b) Laat draadborstels voor gebruik minimaal één minuut onbelast draaien. Niemand

dient tijdens deze periode in lijn met de borstel te staan. Losse haren worden zo uit

de borstel verwijderd

c) Richt de uitvliegende borstelharen van uw af. Kleine deeltjes die tijdens het gebruik uit

de borstel vliegen zijn erg gevaarlijk en komen mogelijk onder de huid terecht

Het uitpakken van uw gereedschap

• Pak uw toestel / gereedschap uit. Inspecteer het en zorg dat u met alle kenmerken en functies

vertrouwd raakt

• Controleer of alle onderdelen aanwezig zijn en in goede staat verkeren. Als er onderdelen

ontbreken of beschadigd zijn, zorg dan dat deze vervangen worden voor u dit toestel /

gereedschap gebruikt

WAARSCHUWING: Ontkoppel de machine van de stroombron voordat u accessoires wisselt

of enige aanpassingen maakt

Ashals bevestiging

WAARSCHUWING: Bevestig de geschikte ashals, passend bij de schachtdiameter van het

te gebruiken accessoire

Let op: De machine is voorzien van 4 ashalzen (2), voor het gebruik van accessoires met

verschillende schachtdiameters (Zie: ‘Specificaties’)

1. Verwijder de ashals moer (1) door de as-vergrendelknop (4) in te drukken en de moer linksom

te draaien tot deze van de ashals genomen kan worden

Let op: Het is mogelijk vereist gebruik te maken van de inbegrepen ashals steeksleutel

2. Verwijder de messing ashals en bevestig de gewenste ashals

3. Draai de ashals moer rechtsom vast terwijl u de as-vergrendelknop ingedrukt houd

Het verwisselen van accessoires

WAARSCHUWING: Zorg ervoor dat de machine uitgeschakeld en ontkoppeld is van de

stroombron voordat u accessoires wisselt

1. Druk de as-vergrendelknop (4) in en draai de ashals moer (1) los

Let op: Het is mogelijk vereist gebruik te maken van de inbegrepen ashals steeksleutel

2. Plaats de schacht van het accessoire volledig in de ashals (2)

WAARSCHUWING: Zorg ervoor dat de geschikte ashals bevestigd is

3. Draai de ashals moer rechtsom vast terwijl u de as-vergrendelknop ingedrukt houd

WAARSCHUWING: Bevestig geen accessoires met een maximale snelheid, lager dan de

onbelaste snelheid van de machine

Het bevestigen van een schuurkoker

1. Draai de kleine schroef in de bovenzijde van de rubberen cilinder (accessoire pakket) los zodat

het rubber verslapt

2. Schuif de schuurkoker (accessoire pakket) over de cilinder

3. Draai de schroef weer vast om de koker in positie te vergrendelen (draai niet te ver vast)

Het bevestigen van een snij-/slijpschijf

1. Draai de ashals moer (1) los en plaats een snij-/slijpschijf in de ashals (2). Draai de moer

stevig vast

2. Gebruik de moersleutel om de schroef aan het uiteinde van de snij-/slijpschijf spandoorn te

verwijderen

3. Draai de schroef door het midden gat van de snij-/slijpschijf en schroef het terug in de

spandoorn om de schijf in positie te vergrendelen. (draai niet te vast aan)

Het bevestigen van de flexibele schacht

Let op: De 3,2 mm ashals (2) dient in de machine te zitten om de flexibele schacht (9) te kunnen

monteren. Vergrendel de flexibele ashals op dezelfde manier in plaats als het bevestigen van een

accessoire. Een extra 3,2 mm ashals is inbegrepen

1. Verwijder de ashals kraag (3)

2. Druk de as-vergrendelknop (4) in en draai de ashals moer (1) met de steeksleutel los

3. Plaats de binnenste kabel van de flexibele schacht (9) zo ver mogelijk in de ashals (2)

4. Draai de ashals moer (1) weer vast om de kabel te vergrendelen

5. Draai de schacht vergrendelring (10) rechtsom op de behuizing. Draai deze met de hand vast

6. Trek de afdekking terug om de ashals zichtbaar te maken

7. Gebruik de moersleutel om een accessoire in de flexibele schacht te bevestigen

WAARSCHUWING: Buig de schacht bij gebruik niet minder dan een straal van 15 cm. Berg de

flexibele schacht voorzichtig op

Gebruik

WAARSCHUWING: Bij het gebruik van de machine is het dragen van de geschikte

beschermende uitrusting, waaronder een geschikt stofmasker en veiligheidsbril aanbevolen

Het in- en uitschakelen van de machine

1. Plaats de aan-/uitschakelaar (8) in de ‘I’ positie om deze in te schakelen

2. Plaats de aan-/uitschakelaar (8) in de ‘0’ positie om deze uit te schakelen

Het aanpassen van de machine snelheid

WAARSCHUWING: Stel de machine snelheid, passend bij de vereiste van het accessoire en

het te bewerken materiaal

• Pas de machine snelheid met gebruik van het snelheidswiel (6) aan

Let op: Een hoger nummer duidt op een hogere machine snelheid

Het hanteren van de machine

WAARSCHUWING: Klem het werkstuk te allen tijde goed vast. Gebruik de machine niet op een

los werkstuk wat tijdens gebruik kan bewegen

• Houdt de machine stevig vast en houd uw handen uit de buurt van het roterende accessoire.

Het is aanbevolen de machine vast te houden als een pen

• Houdt de machine bij snijwerkzaamheden wanneer mogelijk met beide handen vast

• Oefen op een stuk afvalmateriaal. Verschillende accessoires vereisen verschillende

gebruikstechnieken en mogelijk verschillende snelheidsinstellingen

• Het uitoefenen van overmatige druk resulteert niet in een snellere materiaalverwijdering of

efficiëntere werking. Wanneer de druk een aanzienlijk effect heeft op de rotatiesnelheid van het

accessoire, vermindert de druk dan onmiddellijk. Het overbelasten van de machine resulteert in

een kortere gebruiksduur

Onderhoud

WAARSCHUWING: Ontkoppel de machine van de stroombron voordat u de machine

schoonmaakt of enig onderhoud uitvoert

Algemene inspectie

• Controleer regelmatig of alle bevestigingsmiddelen nog goed vast zitten. Door vibratie kunnen

ze na enige tijd los gaan zitten

• Inspecteer het stroomsnoer voor elk gebruik op slijtage en beschadiging. Reparaties

dienen uitgevoerd worden bij een geautoriseerd GMC service center. Dit geld tevens voor

verlengsnoeren, gebruikt met de machine

Schoonmaak

WAARSCHUWING: Bij het schoonmaken van de eenheid is het dragen van de juiste

beschermende uitrusting, waaronder een veiligheidsbril en handschoenen, aanbevolen

• Houd uw machine te allen tijde schoon. Vuil en stof doen de interne onderdelen sneller slijten,

wat de levensduur van de machine aanzienlijk vermindert

• Maak de behuizing van de machine met een zachte borstel of droge doek schoon

• Maak de plastic onderdelen niet met bijtende middelen schoon. Maak gebruik van een licht

schoonmaakmiddel en een vochtige doek

• De machine mag niet in contact komen met water

• Zorg ervoor dat de machine volledig droog is voordat u deze gebruikt

• Gebruik wanneer mogelijk zuivere, droge perslucht om door de luchtgaten te blazen

Smeren

• Smeer alle bewegende onderdelen regelmatig met een geschikt smeermiddel

Koolstofborstels

• Na verloop van tijd zullen de koolborstels in de motor verslijten.

• Bij overmatige slijtage van de borstels verliest de motor mogelijk vermogen, start het niet meer,

en/ of produceert het overmatig vonken.

• Wanneer u vermoedt dat de borstels versleten zijn, laat u deze bij een erkend servicecenter

vervangen

Opberging

• Berg de machine op een droge en veilige plek, buiten het bereik van kinderen op

Verwijdering

Bij de verwijdering van elektrische machines neemt u de nationale voorschriften in acht.

• Elektrische en elektronische apparaten en accu’s mogen niet met uw huishoudelijk afval

worden weggegooid

• Neem contact op met uw gemeente voor informatie betreffende de verwijdering van elektrisch

Caractéristiques techniques

Attention : Portez toujours des protections sonores lorsque le niveau d’intensité est supérieur à

L’expression « appareil électrique » employée dans les présentes consignes recouvre aussi bien

les appareils filaires à brancher sur le secteur que les appareils sans fils fonctionnant sous batterie

1) Sécurité sur la zone de travail

a) Maintenir une zone de travail propre et bien éclairée. Des zones encombrées et mal

éclairées sont sources d’accidents

b) Ne pas utiliser d’outils électriques dans des environnements explosifs, tels qu’à

proximité de liquides, de gaz ou de poussières inflammables. Les appareils électriques

produisent des étincelles susceptibles d’enflammer la poussière ou les vapeurs présentes

c) Eloigner les enfants et les passants pendant l’utilisation d’un appareil électrique. Ceux-

ci peuvent provoquer une perte d’attention et faire perdre la maîtrise de l’appareil

2) Sécurité électrique

a) La prise d’un appareil électrique doit être adaptée à la prise du secteur. Ne jamais

modifier la prise en aucune façon. Ne jamais utiliser d’adaptateur sur la prise électrique

d’appareil mis à la terre. Des prises non modifiées, adaptées aux boîtiers de prise de

courant, réduiront le risque de décharge électrique

b) Eviter le contact corporel avec les surfaces mises à la terre telles que tuyaux,

radiateurs, cuisinières et réfrigérateurs. Le risque de décharge électrique est plus important

si le corps est mis à la terre

c) Ne pas exposer l’appareil électrique à la pluie ou à l’humidité. L’infiltration d’eau dans un

appareil électrique accroît le risque de décharge électrique

d) Ne pas maltraiter le cordon électrique. Ne jamais utiliser le cordon électrique pour

porter, tirer ou débrancher l’appareil. Protéger le cordon électrique de la chaleur, du

contact avec l’essence, des bords tranchants et pièces rotatives. Un cordon électrique

endommagé ou entortillé accroît le risque de décharge électrique

e) Lors d’une utilisation de l’appareil électrique en extérieur, se servir d’une rallonge

appropriée à une utilisation en extérieur. Cela réduit le risque de décharge électrique

f) Si une utilisation de l’appareil électrique dans un environnement humide ne peut être

évitée, utiliser une alimentation protégée par un disjoncteur différentiel. L’utilisation d’un

disjoncteur différentiel réduit le risque de décharge électrique

3) Sécurité des personnes

a) Rester vigilent et faire preuve de bon sens lors de la manipulation de l’appareil. Ne pas

utiliser un appareil électrique lorsque l’on se trouve dans un état de fatigue, ou sous

l’influence de drogues, d’alcool ou de médicaments. Un moment d’inattention pendant

l’utilisation d’un outil électrique peut se traduire par des blessures graves

b) Porter un équipement de protection approprié. Toujours porter une protection oculaire.

Le port de masque à poussières, chaussures de sécurité antidérapantes, casque de sécurité

et protections antibruit adaptés aux différentes conditions de travail réduit le risque de

blessures corporelles

c) Eviter tout démarrage accidentel ou intempestif. S’assurer que l’interrupteur marche-

arrêt soit en position d’arrêt avant de brancher l’appareil sur l’alimentation secteur

ou d’installer la batterie, de prendre l’appareil ou de le transporter. Porter un appareil

électrique tout en maintenant le doigt posé sur l’interrupteur ou brancher un appareil électrique

dont l’interrupteur est sur la position de marche est source d’accidents

d) Enlever toute clé et tout instrument de réglage avant de mettre l’appareil électrique en

marche. Une clé ou un instrument de réglage laissé fixé à un élément en rotation de l’appareil

électrique peut entraîner des blessures physiques

e) Ne pas essayer d’atteindre une zone hors de portée. Se tenir toujours en position stable

permettant de conserver l’équilibre. Cela permet de mieux contrôler l’appareil électrique

dans des situations inattendues

f) Porter des vêtements appropriés. Ne pas porter de vêtements amples ou des bijoux

pendants. Eloigner cheveux, vêtements et gants des pièces en mouvement. Les

vêtements amples, les bijoux pendants et cheveux longs peuvent être happés par les pièces

en rotation

g) Si l’appareil est pourvu de dispositifs destinés au raccord d’équipements d’extraction

et de récupération de la poussière/sciure, s’assurer qu’ils soient bien fixés et utilisés

correctement. L’utilisation de ces dispositifs peut réduire les risques dus à la poussière

4) Utilisation et entretien des appareils électriques

a) Ne pas forcer sur l’appareil électrique. Utiliser l’appareil électrique approprié au travail

à effectuer. Un appareil électrique adapté et employé au rythme pour lequel il a été conçu

permettra de réaliser un travail de meilleure qualité et dans de meilleures conditions de

sécurité

b) Ne pas utiliser un appareil électrique dont l’interrupteur marche-arrêt est hors service.

Tout appareil électrique dont la commande ne s’effectue plus par l’interrupteur marche-arrêt

est dangereux et doit être réparé

c) Débrancher l’appareil électrique ou démonter sa batterie avant d’effectuer tout réglage

ou changement d’accessoire et avant de le ranger. De telles mesures préventives réduiront

les risques de démarrage accidentel

d) Ranger les appareils électriques inutilisés hors de portée des enfants et ne pas

permettre l’utilisation de cet appareil aux personnes non habituées à son maniement ou

n’ayant pas lu les présentes instructions. Les appareils électriques sont dangereux dans

les mains d’utilisateurs inexpérimentés

e) Veiller à l’entretien des appareils électriques. Vérifier que les éléments rotatifs

soient bien alignés et non grippés. S’assurer de l’absence de pièces cassées ou

endommagées susceptibles de nuire au bon fonctionnement de l'appareil. Si l’appareil

électrique est endommagé, le faire réparer avant toute utilisation. De nombreux accidents

sont dus à l’utilisation d’appareils électriques mal entretenus

f) Veiller à ce que les outils de coupe soient tenus affûtés et propres. Des outils de coupe

bien entretenus, aux tranchants bien affûtés, sont moins susceptibles de se gripper et sont

plus faciles à contrôler

g) Utiliser l’appareil électrique, les accessoires et outils à monter conformément à ces

instructions, en tenant compte des conditions de travail et de la tâche à réaliser. Toute

utilisation d’un appareil électrique autre que celle pour laquelle il a été conçu peut entraîner

des situations à risque

5) Révision

a) Ne faire réparer votre appareil électrique que par un réparateur qualifié utilisant

uniquement des pièces de rechange identiques. Cela permet de maintenir la sécurité

d’utilisation de l’appareil électrique

Consignes de sécurité relatives aux outils pour

loisirs créatifs

a) Cet outil électroportatif est conçu pour fonctionner comme meuleuse, ponceuse,

brosse métallique, polisseuse, outil de ciselage et outil de tronçonnage. Lisez tous

les avertissements, consignes de sécurités, illustrations et caractéristiques

techniques fournies avec cet outil électroportatif. Le non-respect des consignes

ci-dessous peut entraîner un choc électrique, un incendie et/ou des blessures graves.

b) N’utilisez pas d’accessoires qui ne sont pas conçus et recommandés spécifiquement

par le fabricant de l’outil. Même si l’accessoire peut être monté, ceci ne signifie pas que son

utilisation est sans risque.

c) La vitesse nominale de l’accessoire de meulage doit être supérieure ou égale à la

vitesse maximale marquée sur l’outil électroportatif. Les accessoires de meulage

dont la vitesse de rotation dépasse la vitesse nominale peuvent se désintégrer et voler en

éclats.

d) Le diamètre extérieur et l’épaisseur de votre accessoire doivent être dans la plage de

capacités de votre outil électrique. Les accessoires dont les dimensions sont incorrectes ne

peuvent pas être contrôlés de manière adéquate.

e) L’axe des disques, des tambours de ponçage, des meules ou de tout autres

accessoires doit être adapté à l’arbre ou au collier de serrage de l’outil électrique.

Les accessoires qui ne correspondent pas au dispositif de fixation seront déséquilibrés,

occasionneront des vibrations excessives et pourront causer une perte de contrôle.

f) Les disques, tambours de ponçage, meules ou autres accessoires montés sur tiges

doivent être insérés complètement dans le collier de serrage ou le mandrin. Si la tige

n’est pas maintenue correctement ou si le surplomb des disques est trop élevé, le disque

monté peut se desserrer et être éjecté à haute vitesse.

g) N’utilisez pas d’accessoires endommagés. Avant chaque utilisation, examinez les

abrasifs pour vérifier qu’ils ne sont pas ébréchés ou fissurés, que les tambours

de ponçage ne sont pas fissurés, déchirés et trop usés, que les brins métalliques des

brosses métalliques ne sont pas desserrés ou fissurés. Si l’outil ou l’accessoire

tombent, vérifiez qu’ils ne sont pas endommagés ou changez l’accessoire. Après avoir

vérifié l’appareil et monté l’accessoire, positionnez-vous et toute personne présente

hors de portée de l’appareil de l’accessoire en rotation et faites tourner l’outil

à sa vitesse à vide maximale pendant une minute. Les accessoires endommagés se

désintègreront normalement pendant la durée du test.

h) Portez un équipement de protection individuelle. En fonction de l’application,

portez un écran facial, un masque ou des lunettes de sécurité. Comme il convient,

portez un masque anti poussière, des protections auditives, des gants et un tablier

de travail capable de protéger contre des petits abrasifs ou des fragments de pièce

de travail. La protection oculaire doit être capable d’arrêter des débris volants générés

par différents outils. Le masque anti poussière doit être capable de filtrer les particules

générées par votre utilisation de la machine. Une exposition prolongée à des bruits élevés

peut causer une perte de l’ouïe.

i) Assurez-vous que toutes les personnes présentes restent à bonne distance de la zone

de travail. Toute personne entrant dans la zone de travail doit porter un équipement de

protection. Des fragments de pièces usinées ou d’un accessoire brisé peuvent voler en éclats

et causer des blessures au-delà de la zone d’utilisation.

j) Tenez les outils électriques uniquement par leurs surfaces isolées, lorsque vous

effectuez une opération pendant laquelle l’accessoire de coupes risque d’entrer en

contact avec des fils électriques cachés ou son propre câble d’alimentation. Les

accessoires de coupe qui entrent en contact avec un fil sous tension peuvent mettre les

parties métalliques de l’outil électrique sous tension et pourraient donner un choc

électrique à l’utilisateur.

k) Tenez toujours l’outil fermement dans votre main (vos mains) lors de la mise en marche.

Le couple de réaction du moteur, lorsqu’il accélère pour atteindre sa vitesse, peut causer une

torsion de l’outil.

l) Dans la mesure du possible, utiliser des serre-joints pour maintenir la pièce de travail.

Ne tenez jamais une petite pièce de travail d’une main et l’outil de l’autre pendant

l’utilisation. Si vous maintenez une petite pièce de travail avec un serre-joint ceci vous

permet de vous servir de votre main (vos mains) pendant l’utilisation. Les matériaux

ronds tels que les chevilles, les tuyaux et les tubes risquent de rouler lorsqu’ils sont coupés, et

pourraient bloquer l’accessoire ou causer un rebond dans votre direction.

m) Placez le câble d’alimentation à distance de l’accessoire en rotation. Si vous perdez le

contrôle, le câble risque d’être coupé ou accroché et votre main ou votre bras pourrait être

entrainé vers l’accessoire en rotation.

n) Ne posez jamais l’outil électrique avant que l’accessoire soit complètement arrêté.

L’accessoire en rotation pourrait accrocher la surface et tirer l’outil hors de votre contrôle.

o) Après avoir changé les embouts ou effectué un réglage, assurez-vous que la pince de

serrage, le mandrin ou tout autre dispositif de réglage est serré de manière sûre. Les

dispositifs de réglage desserrés peuvent se déplacer de manière inattendue, causant une

perte de contrôle, et les composants rotatifs pourraient être violemment projetés.

p) Ne mettez pas en marche l’appareil électrique lorsque vous le transportez. Un contact

accidentel avec l’accessoire en rotation pourrait accrocher vos habits et tirer l’accessoire en

direction de votre corps.

q) Nettoyez régulièrement les fentes d’aération de votre outil électrique. Le ventilateur

du moteur aspire la poussière à l’intérieur du boîtier et une accumulation excessive de métal

en poudre pourrait entraîner des risques électriques.

r) N’utilisez pas l’outil près de matériaux inflammables. Les étincelles pourraient enflammer

ces matériaux.

s) N’utilisez pas d’accessoires nécessitants des fluides de refroidissement. L’utilisation

d’eau ou d’autres liquides de refroidissement peut causer une électrocution ou un choc.

t) Utilisez de rallonge complètement déroulées et sûres ayant une capacité d’au moins 5

ampères.

Mesures de prévention et consignes de sécurité

relatives à l’effet de rebond

L’effet de rebond est une réaction soudaine causée par un disque, un support, une brosse

ou tout autre accessoire en rotation se grippant ou déformé. Lorsque l’accessoire est

grippé ou déformé il cale rapidement, entraînant une réaction incontrôlée de l’outil, qui

sera forcé dans la direction opposée au sens de rotation de l’accessoire au moment où il

cale. Par exemple, si un abrasive se coince ou se grippe dans la pièce, le bord du disque

entrant au point où il est coincé peut creuser dans la surface du matériau et peut faire

remonter le disque ou l’éjecter. Le disque peut être éjecté vers l’utilisateur ou dans la

direction opposée, en fonction du sens de rotation du disque lorsqu’il se coince. Dans

ces conditions, le disque abrasif peut se briser. Le rebond est le résultat d’une mauvaise

utilisation de l’outil, de son utilisation dans de mauvaise condition, ou du non suivi des

procédures. Il peut être évité en tenant compte des précautions suivantes.

a) Exercez une prise en main sûre et ferme de l’outil, des deux mains, en adoptant une

bonne position et en tenant les bras de manière à résister aux forces de rebond. Utilisez

toujours les poignées auxiliaires lorsqu’elles sont fournies pour un contrôle maximal en

cas de rebond ou de réaction lors du démarrage. L’utilisateur peut contrôler la réaction de

coupe ou les forces de rebond si des précautions suffisantes sont prises.

b) Soyez extrêmement vigilant lorsque vous travailler dans des coins ou près de bords

tranchants. Évitez de déformer ou déchirer l’accessoire. Les coins, les bords tranchants

etc. ont tendance à déchirer et déformer l’accessoire en rotation et peut conduire à une perte

de contrôle et un effet de rebond.

c) Ne posez pas une lame de scie dentée. De telles lames entraînent généralement une

perte de contrôle et un effet de rebond.

d) Faites toujours avancer l’accessoire dans le matériau dans la même direction que le

bord de coupe sort du matériau (ce qui est dans la même direction que les copeaux

sont éjectés). Faire avancer l’outil dans la mauvaise direction peut faire sortir le bord de

coupe de l’accessoire de la pièce de travail et tirer l’outil dans cette direction.

e) Lorsque vous vous servez de limes rotatives, de disques de tronçonnage, de fraises à

grande vitesse ou de fraises en carbure de tungstène maintenez la pièce de travail avec

un dispositif de serrage approprié. Les disques s’accrocheront s’ils sont légèrement

inclinés dans la rainure, ce qui peut causer un effet de rebond. Lorsqu’un disque de

tronçonnage s’accroche, le disque se brise habituellement. Lorsqu’une lime rotative, une fraise

à grande vitesse ou une fraise en carbure de tungstène s’accroche elle peut sauter hors de la

rainure et faire perdre le contrôle de l’appareil.

Consignes de sécurité relatives au meulage et au

tronçonnage

a) Servez-vous uniquement de disques recommandés pour votre outil électrique et

uniquement pour des utilisations recommandées. Par exemple : ne meulez pas avec le

côté d’un disque de tronçonnage. Les disques de tronçonnage abrasifs sont conçus pour un

meulage périphérique, des forces latérales pourraient briser ces disques.

b) Pour les meules abrasives à filetage servez-vous uniquement de tiges en bon état

à bride de dimensions correctes. L’utilisation de tiges adaptées réduira les risques de bris.

c) Ne « coincez » pas un disque à tronçonner et n’exercez pas de pression excessive.

N’essayez pas d’atteindre une profondeur de coupe excessive en une passe. Des forces

excessives sur le disque augmentent la charge et le risque de torsion ou d’accrochage du

disque dans la coupe, ce qui pourrait entrainer un effet de rebond ou la rupture du disque.

d) Ne positionnez pas votre main dans l’axe ou à l’arrière du disque rotatif. Lorsque le

disque, au point de fonctionnement, se dirige du côté opposé à votre main, l’effet de rebond

possible pourrait projeter le disque en rotation dans votre direction.

e) Lorsque le disque est pincé, accroché ou lorsque vous interrompez une opération

de coupe pour une raison quelconque, éteignez l’outil électrique et gardez l’outil

immobile jusqu’à ce que le disque se soit complètement arrêté de tourner.

N’essayez jamais d’enlever le disque de tronçonnage de la coupe lorsque le disque

est en mouvement car ceci pourrait causer un effet de rebond. Examinez et prenez

des mesures correctives pour éliminer les causes du pinçage et de l’accrochage du disque.

f) Ne recommencez pas la coupe dans la pièce de travail. Laissez le disque atteindre sa

vitesse maximale et ensuite recommencez la coupe avec précautions. Le disque peut se

bloquer, sortir de la coupe ou créer un effet de rebond si l’outil électrique est mis en marche

dans la pièce de travail.

g) Soutenez les panneaux et les longues pièces de travail pour minimiser les risques de

pinçage ou d’effet de rebond. Les larges pièces de travail ont tendance à s’affaisser sous

leurs propres poids. Des soutiens doivent être placés sous la pièce de travail près de la ligne

de coupe et près du bord de la pièce de travail des deux côtés du disque.

h) Redoublez de prudence lorsque vous effectuez une coupe dans un mur ou autre zone

sans visibilité. Le disque protubérant peut couper les canalisations de gaz, les tuyaux d’eau

et les fils électriques ou des objets susceptibles de causer un effet de rebond.

Consignes de sécurité relatives à l’utilisation d’une

brosse métallique

a) Sachez que des brins métalliques sont éjectés par la brosse même pendant un

fonctionnement ordinaire. N’exercez pas de forces excessives sur les brins en

appliquant une charge excessive sur la brosse. Les brins métalliques peuvent facilement

pénétrer les vêtements légers et/ou la peau.

b) Faites tourner les brosses à la vitesse d’opération pendant au moins une minute avant

de vous en servir. Ne laissez personne se tenir devant ou dans l’axe de la brosse. Les

brins métalliques desserrés seront éjectés pendant ce temps de mise en service.

c) Projetez les décharges de brins métalliques loin de vous. Les petites particules et les

fragments de brins minuscules peuvent être projetés à grande vitesse lors de l’utilisation de

ces brosses et peuvent pénétrer dans la peau.

Usage conforme

Déballage

• Déballez le produit avec soin. Veillez à retirer tout le matériau d’emballage et familiarisez-vous

avec toutes les caractéristiques du produit.

• Si des pièces sont endommagées ou manquantes, faites-les réparer ou remplacer avant

d’utiliser l’appareil.

Avant utilisation

ATTENTION : Assurez-vous que l’outil est éteint et débranché de la source d’alimentation

avant de procéder à l’installation ou au retrait d’un accessoire, ou de réaliser toute opération de

réglage, de nettoyage ou d’entretien.

Pose de la pince de serrage

ATTENTION : Veillez à TOUJOURS poser une pince de serrage qui s’adapte parfaitement au

diamètre de l’arbre de l’accessoire que vous souhaitez utiliser.

Remarque : Cet outil multifonction est fourni avec quatre pinces de serrage (2) de manière à

pouvoir s’adapter à des accessoires dont le diamètre de l’arbre varie (voir « Caractéristiques

techniques »).

1. Enlever l’écrou de pince de serrage (1) en appuyant sur le bouton de verrouillage de l’arbre

(4) et en faisant tourner l’écrou dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre jusqu’à ce que

vous puissiez l’enlever de l’arbre.

Remarque : Il peut être nécessaire d’utiliser la clé pour la pince de serrage fournie pour desserrer

l’écrou de pince de serrage.

2. Enlevez la pince de serrage en laiton et remplacez-la par une de taille adaptée.

3. Remontez l’écrou de la pince de serrage, appuyez sur le bouton de verrouillage de l’arbre et

faites tourner l’écrou de pince de serrage dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre pour le fixer

sur l’arbre.

Changement d’accessoires

ATTENTION : Assurez-vous que l’outil est éteint et débranché de la source d’alimentation

avant de procéder à la pose ou au retrait d’un accessoire.

1. Desserrez l’écrou de pince de serrage (1) en appuyant sur le bouton de verrouillage de l’arbre

(4) et en faisant tourner l’écrou de pince de serrage dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une

montre.

Remarque : Il peut être nécessaire d’utiliser la clé à pince de serrage fournie pour desserrer

l’écrou de pince de serrage.

2. Placez l’accessoire requis dans la pince de serrage (2).

ATTENTION : Assurez-vous que la pince de serrage appropriée au diamètre de la tige de

l’accessoire a été installée.

3. Appuyez sur le bouton de verrouillage de l’arbre et faites tourner l’écrou de pince de serrage

dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre, pour fixer l’accessoire dans la pince de serrage.

ATTENTION: Ne montez jamais des embouts dont la vitesse maximale est inférieure à la

vitesse à vide de l’outil.

Pose d’un manchon de ponçage

1. Desserrez la petite vis située sur la partie supérieure du tambour de ponçage (fourni dans le

sachet d’accessoires) pour que le support de caoutchouc se relâche.

2. Faites glisser le manchon (fourni dans le sachet d’accessoires) sur le tambour.

3. Fixez le manchon en place en resserrant la vis (veillez à ne pas trop serrer).

Pose d’un disque de coupe/ponçage

1. Introduisez le support de disque dans la pince de serrage (2) après avoir desserré l’écrou de la

pince de serrage (1). Resserrez bien l’écrou de la pince de serrage.

2. Enlevez la vis située à l’extrémité de la tige du disque à l’aide de la clé fournie.

3. Introduisez la vis dans le trou central du disque de coupe/ponçage voulu, puis vissez le tout sur

la tige pour fixer le disque en place (veillez à ne pas trop serrer).

Fixation de l’axe souple

Remarque : La pince de serrage (2) de 3,2 mm doit toujours rester fixée à l’appareil afin de

sécuriser le câble interne de l’arbre flexible (9). Pour sécuriser ce câble en place, vous devez

suivre le même procédé que pour sécuriser un accessoire. Une pince de serrage supplémentaire

de 3,2 mm est incluse.

1. Enlevez le cache de la pince de serrage (3).

2. Enfoncez le bouton de verrouillage de l’arbre (4) et desserrez l’écrou de la pince de serrage (1)

à l’aide de la clé fournie.

3. Introduisez à fond le câble intérieur de l’arbre flexible (9) dans la pince de serrage (2).
