1. General information

The symbols and hazard statements below may appear in Grundfos installation
and operating instructions, safety instructions and service instructions.
DANGER
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in
death or serious personal injury.
WARNING
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in
death or serious personal injury.
CAUTION
Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in
minor or moderate personal injury.
The hazard statements are structured in the following way:

Observe these instructions for explosion-proof products.

A blue or grey circle with a white graphical symbol indicates that an
action must be taken.
A red or grey circle with a diagonal bar, possibly with a black
graphical symbol, indicates that an action must not be taken or must
be stopped.
If these instructions are not observed, it may result in malfunction or
damage to the equipment.
Tips and advice that make the work easier.

Read this document before you install the product. Conduct the
installation according to the steps and tools stated in this document.
Any damage, quality issue or operation failure due to not complying with these
installing and operating instructions will not be covered by the warranty.

2. Product introduction
2.1 Wireless sensor
The wireless sensor is supplied with a lithium thionyl chloride battery and
integrates a temperature-vibration measurement module and a communication
module. The sensor supports measurement of temperature and vibration, and
can transmit the measured data to the Cloud platform using NB-IoT
communication protocols. The product also supports OTA firmware update and
edge computing features.

2.2 Applications
The wireless sensor is designed to wake up and collect the temperature signal
and triaxial vibration signals of the device according to the demand, and then
send the signals to the cloud server through the communication mode NB-IoT.

4. Receiving the product
4.1 Inspecting the product
Before installing the product, do the following:
1. Check that the product is as ordered.
2. Check that no visible parts have been damaged.
3. If parts are damaged or missing, contact your local Grundfos sales
company.
4.2 Supply list
1. Wireless sensor with battery
2. SIM card lifter, explosion proof certificate, certificate, installation and
operation instructions.

5. Installation requirements
5.1 Installation location of sensors
•Pump horizontally installed: the sensor is vertically installed on the
connection part between the pump and motor.

•Pump vertically installed: the sensor is vertically installed on the edge of
the connection part between the pump and motor.
If you want to install the sensor to a vertical pump, make sure
that the width of the installation surface meets the minimum
requirement. Otherwise, use a bracket to install. See sections for
installing the sensors.

5.3 Measures of ensuring the quality of data transmission
Sensor RF characteristics (in the case of using external antenna):

Receiving sensitivity -103.3 dBm
In order to ensure the quality of data transmission, pay attention to the following
items when installing sensors:
• Orient the antenna of the transmitting spot to the base station.
• Try to make sure that there is no obstacle between the station and the
sampling spot. Try to make sure that the collection spot is located on the
high and unshaded place.
• The collection spot should be set as high as possible to prevent the
antenna from being attenuated by the ground or other planes.
The factors that may affect the communication quality include but
are not limited to: terrain, obstacles, antenna gain, antenna height,
direction, other radio interference and weather conditions.

6. Mechanical installation
6.1 Installing the wireless sensor to the pump
If you want to install the wireless sensor to a vertical pump, make
sure that the width of the installation surface is at least 30 mm. if the
width is less than 30 mm, use a bracket to install. See section
6.2 Using the bracket to install the wireless sensor.
1. Do the following measures to the installation surface to make sure
the magnetic adsorption and adhesiveness of the sensor and pump:
a. Remove the paint on the installation surface.
b. Slightly grind the installation surface into a flat surface after removing the
paint.
2. Install the nut to the sensor base.
Make sure that the bottom (A) of the nut is higher than the
bottom (B) of the sensor base.

3. Use AB glue (we recommend ERGO9988.) to stick the fittings to the surface
of the equipment.
Make sure that you only use the AB glue to stick the base
bottom (B) on the equipment surface. Do not stick the nut (A) to
the equipment surface.

4. Leave the equipment for 24 hours to let the glue cure.

5. Install the main body of the sensor.

6. Make sure that the X, Y, Z directions marked on the top of the sensor are
aligned with the pump.
If you need to adjust the direction, loosen the fixed nut first, and
then adjust the direction of the sensor.

7. Tighten the nut. The sensor must be firmly installed and cannot fall off.

6.2 Using the bracket to install the wireless sensor
When the wireless sensor is installed on a vertical pump, and the width of the
installation surface is less than 30 mm, you must use the mounting bracket to
install the sensor.
1. Install the bracket to the bolt of the pump.
• Diameter of the bolt should be less than 16 mm, outer diameter of the
nut (φ) should be: 17 ＜φ＜30 mm.
