Before You Run Your VISION
About Glow Fuel:
TheenginesusedfortheGSRacingnitroVISIONrequireglowfuel.Togettheproperfuelisveryimportantforlong
enginelife.Improperfuelcancausestartingproblems,poorperformance,andexcessivewearontheengines.
Therearemanybrandsofglowfuels;however,theymustmeetthefollowingrequirements:
1.Usea popularnamebrandofglowfuel.
2.Trytokeepthenitro(nitromethane)between10%~ 20%!
3.Donotuseanytypeofairplaneorhelicopterfuels.Thefuelsforairplanesandhelicoptersmaynothavethe
necessaryoiltypesandratiosneededforR/Ccars.
4.Becarefulnottopurchasegasolineorkerosenebymistake.Bothcannotbeused!Also,beverycarefulwhen
handlingglowfuel.Itishighlyflammableandexplosive!
**About Radio System (Refer toradio manual):
Readtheinstructionsthatcomewithyourradio.Youshouldunderstandtheoperationofyourtransmitter.Place
eightAAbatteriesinthetransmitter,andtransmitter,andplacefourAAbatteriesinthebatteryholderasreceiverpack.
Itisimportantthatallthebatteriesarefreshorfullycharged.
Alwayscheckthepathandtheconditionofthebatterypackwiresaswellastheswitchwires.A brokenwire
cancausea shortcircuitandleadtoa lossofcontrol.
Alwaysturnyourtransmitteronfirstandofflast.Ifyoustartyourcarbeforeturningonyourtransmitter,you
willlosecontrolofthecarandcausedamagetopropertyandyourcar.
Testthefollowingradiofunctionswithouttheenginerunning:
1.Turnonthetransmitter.
2.Turnonthecarreceiverbatterypackswitch.Boththesteeringandthrottleservosshouldmovetotheir
respectiveneutralsettings.
3.Turnthesteeringwheelonthetransmitterleftandright.Thefrontwheelsshouldturnleftandright(when
viewedfrombehind).Usethesteeringtrimadjustmenttosettheneutral(wheelspointingstraightahead)
settingonyourcar.Ifyourservosareslow,checkyourbatteries.
4.Pullthethrottletrigger.Thecarburetorshouldopenontheengine.
5.Pushthethrottletriggeropenandforward.Thiswillactivatethebrakes.
6.Usethethrottletrimadjustmenttosettheneutral(carburetorclosed,brakesstartingtoengage)settingonyour
car.
7.Holdthethrottleopenandrollthecarontheground.Thecarshouldrollfreely.Whileitisstillrolling,pushon
thebrakes.Thecarshouldcometoanimmediatestop.Ifthesestepsdonotproducetheseresultsrefertothe
linkageassemblysetupinthismanual.

**About the Carburetor:
Let'scheckthecarburetorlinkagebeforeyoufireuptheengineforthefirsttime.
Pullofftheairfilter.Turnthetransmitteronfirst,followedbythecar.
Withyourfingeroffthethrottle,whichistheneutralposition,thethrottleshouldbealmostclosed,withanopening
about0.7~ 1mm.
Pullthethrottlewideopenandlookintothecarburetorandseeifit'sopeningallthewayup.Ifyoudon'tseethe
gap,adjustthe"ThrottleEndPointAdjustment"onyourtransmitteraccordingtotheradiomanual,oradjustthe
linkageshownearlierinthismanualtoachievefullthrottle.WheneverythingisadjustedOK,turntheswitchoff
inyourcarfirst,followedbyyourtransmitter.Youmustremembertoturnoffyourcar'selectronicsovertimein
thisorder.
Now,placetheairfilterbackonyourcarburetorandfastenitwitha tiewrap.

Checklist before Running
•Ensureallscrewsaresecurelytightened.
•Ensureallmovingpartsmovewithoutbinding.
IInstallanoiledairfilter.Ensureitiscleanandnotclogged.
•Ensurethefuellineisleakproof,withnocracks.Ensureitisnotclogged.
•Ensurethemufflerandexhaustaredamage-free.
•Ensuretheradiobatteriesarefresh.Ensuretheyaresecurelyinstalled.
•Ensureservosandlinkagesmovewithoutbinding.
•Ensuretheareaofoperationissafe.
•Ensurenooneisonyourfrequency.
**Break-in the Engine
Thebreak-instepisrequiredforbrandnewengines.Ifyoufailtoproperlybreak-inanengine,
youwillcausepermanentandprematuredamagetoyourengine.Engineoperationandtuning
willbecomedifficultandenginelifewillbeshortened.Duringthebreak-inperiod,donotoperate
theengineathighrpm's!
Pleasecheckthefollowingstepsforbreaking-inyourengine.
1.Starttheengineusingeithera StarterBoxorPullStarter.
2.Fillthetankwiththepropernitrofuel.Forbreakinginpurposes,fillthetankcompletely.For
tuningpurposes,fillthetankhalfway.TheGSV12RSXenginesuppliedwithyourVision
RTRhasfactorypresetneedlesettings.
3.Placethecarontopofa standwiththewheelsofftheground.
4.Here's a tiptoaidinstartingtheengine.Ifitisa coldstart(engineandpipearebothat
ambienttemperature),placeyourfinger(orotherobject)overtheexhauststingeroutlet
andpullthestartercord3 or4 times.Thiswillforcefuelintotheengine andhelpstartit
quicker.Theengine shouldnowstartwithinthefirst3 or4 pulls.Ifitisa hotstart(engine
andpipeatoperatingtemperature),simplypullthethrottleopenabout10%andpullthe
startercord.Ifenginedoesnotstartwithin4-5pulls,youmayneedtoletitcooldownfirst.
Youcanspraya smallamountofalcoholdirectlyonthecarbandenginehead.Thisusually
helpsrestarttheengine.
5.Slowlyraisethethrottleandchecktomakesurethetiresspinandthebrakeswork.(Ifthe
tiresdonotspinatall,ortheyspinpoorly,refertotheassemblyinstructionmanual.)
6.Break-intheengine.Allowtheengine toidlefor5 minutes,thenshutdownandallowitto
cool.Repeatthisprocedure foranentiretankoffuel.Afterthefirsttank,begintorunthe
caratlowspeeds.Aftereachtankoffuelisconsumed,tightenthemainneedlevalve10°
~20°.Monitorenginetemperatureduringthisprocess.Youwanttoslowlybringthe
temperatureofthemotoruptoaround200F.Makesurethereisplentyofsmokecoming
outoftheexhaust.Thefactorysettingsfortheidleandbottomendscrewshouldbefine
duringthistime.Youmayneedtoraiseorlowertheidledependingonmanyvariables,
butthebottomendscrewshouldbeleftalone.Idleshouldbejusthighenoughtoprevent
theenginefromshuttingoff.
7.Runtheenginea totalof5 tanksoffueltocompletethebrake-in.

**EngineAdjustment
Adjustintheorder1,2,and3 aftercompletingthebreak-in.
1.MainNeedleAdjustment(TopEndR.P.M.Adjustment)
•Starttheengineandrunyourcaruntilmotorreachesoperatingtemperature.
AlwaysmakeMainNeedleAdjustmentswiththefueltankhalffull.
NEVERMAKENEEDLEVALVEADJUSTMENTSUNTILMOTORREACHESOPERATINGTEMPERATURE!
•Monitorthetopspeedofyourcaratfullthrottle.Whentightening(leaning)themainneedlevalve10°~20°
degrees,speedincreases.Asyourcarreachestopspeed,theneedlevalvesettingisoptimal.
•Factorysettingareveryclosetoactualsettingyouwilluse.Dependingonfuel,weather,type ofplug,etc.,
actualbottomendsettingwilllikelybewithin1 turninfromthefactorysetting.
•Tighteningthemainneedlevalvefurtherwillcausea decreaseinbothenginerpmandexhaustemissions.
Runningtheenginewiththissetting(toolean)willcauseenginedamage.Unscrew(richen)theneedle
valveatonce.Notethatfornormaloperation,unscrewthemainneedlevalve10°~20°fromtheoptimal
settingposition!Normaloperatingtemperatureformostmotorsisbetween200Fto250F.
2.IdleAdjustmentScrew(IdleR.P.M.Adjustment)
•Setthrottlepositiontoneutral(carburetorinclosedposition.)
I.Theenginestalls.— Tightenby1/8~ 1/4turns.
II.Thecarrollsforwardoridleistoohigh.— Unscrewby1/8- 1/4turns.
•Adjusttheidlesothecarwillnotspeedoffwhenthethrottleisinneutralandthebrakesarenotapplied.
3.BottomEndAdjustmentScrew(LowendR.P.M.)
•Allowmotortoreachmaximumrev'sfor1 ~ 2 secondsthensetthrottlepositiontoneutral(carburetorin
closedposition.)
I.Idlestayshighfor5 ~ 6 seconds,thendropstonormalidle,thenshutsoff.
—Tightenby1/8~ 1/4turns(bottomendtoorich.)
II.Idledropstonormalthenrises.
—Loosenby1/8~ 1/4turns(bottomendtoolean)
•Adjustbottomendsothatengineidlessmoothforatleast30seconds.Uponapplyingthrottle,theengine
shouldemita goodamountofexhaustsmoke.Afterapplyingfullthrottleandreturningtotheneutralposition,
engineshouldreturntonormalidlewithin1 ~ 3 seconds.
IMPORTANT!
NEVERrunyournitropoweredR/Ccarswithoutanoiledairfilteron.Theairfilterisessential
forkeepingdirtoutoftheengine.Theairfiltershouldbeinspectedcarefullyeverytimeyou
refuel.Whentheairfilterstartstogetdirty,dothefollowingsteps:
1.Cleanthefoamoutwithfueloralcohol.Dothisbypouringa smallamountina smallcanand
kneadingthefilterinit.Whenthefoamisclean,disposeofthefueloralcoholproperly.
2.Squeezeoutthefuelwitha papertoweluntilit'sdry.
3.Applytheairfilteroilaround thefilter,putthefilterina plasticbagandkneadituntilthefilter
issaturated,butnotsoaked.

**EngineAdjustment
Shutting off the Engine:
Thereareseveralwaystoshuttheengineoff.Herearesomesuggestions.
Pleaseexercisecautionwhenattemptingtoshuttheengineofftoavoidany
bodilyharm.
1.Youcansimplyallowtheenginetorununtilthereisnomorefuelinthetank.Ifyourengineis
tunedproperly,youwillnoticea slightriseinidlejustbeforetheengineshutsoff.Iftheengine
idleserraticallywellbeforeitshutsoff,yourenginesettingsmaybelean.
2.Youmayplaceanobject(arag,thesoleofyourshoe,etc.)overthetipoftheexhauststinger.
Bycoveringtheexhauststinger,theenginewillshutoffimmediately.Donotuseyourbare
fingersasyouriskinjury.
3.Youmaybumptheflywheelwithanobject(arag,thesoleofyourshoe,thehandleofa
screwdriver,etc.).Donotuseyourbarefingersasyouriskinjury.
4.Youmaypressyourfinger(orotherblunt,cleanobject)overandintotheairfilter.Thismethod
isrecommendedonlyincaseofemergency.Pressingintotheairfiltermayforcedirtintothe
engine.Contactwiththeengineorcarburetormaycauseburns.
5.Youmaypinchthefuelline(thetubingthatgoesfromthetanktotheengine)witha pairof
needlenosepliersuntiltheengineshutsoff.Usecautionastonotcutordamagethefuelline.
Ifyourengineistunedproperly,youwillnoticea slightriseinidlejustbeforetheengineshuts
offIftheengineidleserraticallywellbeforeitshutsoff,yourenginesettingsmaybelean.

Maintenance
•Beforestoringyourcaraway,drawoutanyfuelfromthefueltank.
•Next,restarttheenginetocombustremainingfuel.Leavingfuelinsidetheenginewillmakeenginestarting
difficultandmaycauserusttoform.Applyafter-runoiltotheengine.
•Wipeoffdirtandoil.
•Checkallpartsforloosescrews.
•Disconnectthereceiverbatteries.
Operating Your Model Safely
1.Operatethemodelinopenareaswithnopeoplearound!Donotoperateit:
•onpublicroads!
•inplaceswherechildrenandpeoplearepresent!
•inresidentialdistrictsandparks!
•indoorsandinconfinedareas!
Non-observance may account forpersonal injury and property damage!
2.Alwayscheckthebatteriesinthetransmitterandthebatterypackforthereceiver!
Whenthebatteriesgetweak,thetransmissionandreceptionoftheradiodecrease.Youmaylosecontrol
ofyourmodelwhenoperatingitundersuchconditions.Thismayleadtoaccidents!
3.Keepinmindthatpeoplearoundyoumightalsobeoperatinga radiocontrolmodel!
Never sharethesamefrequencywithsomebodyelseatthesametime!Signalswillbemixedandyou
willlosecontrolofyourmodel.Thismayleadtoaccidents!
4.Alwaysuseapprovedgroundfrequencies!
5.Whenthemodelisbehavingstrangely...!
Immediatelystopthemodelandcheckforthecause.Aslongastheproblemisunclear,donotoperate
thecar!Thismayleadtofurthertroubleandunforeseenaccidents!
6.Handlefueloutdoorsonly!
