2.1.3 afety Precautions for the mega macs 66
T prevent inc rrect handling and c nsequent injuries t the user r damage t the device,
bserve the f ll wing:
• Select functi ns and menus n the t uch screen display nly with clean fingers. D n t use a
t l, e.g., a screwdriver.
• Only c nnect riginal p wer adapter t the p wer c rd (supply v ltage 10–15 V).
• Pr tect the TFT LCD and the device fr m l ng peri ds f exp sure t s lar radiati n.
• Pr tect the device and the c nnecting cable fr m h t c mp nents.
• Pr tect the device and the c nnecting cables fr m r tating parts.
• Regularly check the c nnecting cables/access ry parts f r damage (destructi n f the device
due t sh rt circuit).
• C nnect the device exclusively acc rding t user manual.
• Keep the device away fr m fluids such as water, il r gas line. The mega macs 66 is n t
waterpr f.
• Pr tect the device fr m str ng impacts and d n t dr p it.
• D n t pen the device n y ur wn. Only technicians auth rized by Hella Gutmann are

2.1.4 afety Precautions for High Voltage/Line Voltage
Very high v ltages ccur in electrical systems. Due t v ltage flash ver n damaged c mp nents,
such as marten damage r t uching live c mp nents, the risk f electric sh ck is likely. High
v ltage via the vehicle and line v ltage via the building's mains supply can cause severe injury r
even death if adequate care is n t taken. Theref re regard the f ll wing:
• Only use p wer supply cables with gr unding c ntact.
• Only use a checked r the attached p wer c rd.
• Always use the riginal cable set.
• Regularly check cables and adapters f r damage.
• Always c nnect the gr und cable fr m device t vehicle first.
• Perf rm any assembly w rk such as the c nnecti n f the device t the vehicle r the
replacement f c mp nents nly when igniti n is switched ff.
• D n t t uch live c mp nents when igniti n is switched n.
2.1.5 afety Precautions – Chemical Burns
If the TFT display is damaged, there is a danger f chemical burns due t the escape f liquid
crystal. Theref re regard the f ll wing:

• Place warning signs and warning tapes.
• Check the high-v ltage system and the high-v ltage lines f r damage (visual inspecti n!).
• De-energizing the high-v ltage system:
– Switch ff igniti n.
– Disc nnect the service disc nnect plug.
– Rem ve the fuse.
• Securing the high-v ltage system against re-activati n:
– Withdraw the igniti n key and keep it safe.
– Keep the service disc nnect plug safe r secure the battery master switch against re-
activati n.
– Insulate the battery master switch, the plug c nnecti ns etc. with dummy plugs, c vering
caps r insulating tape with the c rresp nding warning n tice.
• Check the de-energized state with a v ltage tester. Even with disc nnected high-v ltage
system, residual v ltage can still be present.
• Gr und and sh rt-circuit the high-v ltage system (necessary nly if v ltage is higher than
1000 V).
• V ltage bel w 1000 V: C ver the parts which are cl se t the system r which are energized e.
g. with insulating cl th, h ses r plastic c verings. V ltage higher than 1000 V: C ver the parts
with insulating plates/pr tective panels specially devel ped f r this purp se s that sufficient
pr tecti n against c ntact t adjacent parts is ensured.
• Regard the f ll wing bef re re-energizing the high-v ltage system:
– All t ls and utilities are rem ved fr m the hybrid/electric vehicle.
– Rem ve the gr unding and sh rt circuit f the high-v ltage system. D n t t uch any f
the cables n w.
– Attach the pr tective paneling that has been rem ved bef re.
– Rem ve the pr tective measures at the switching system.
