IMPORTANT:
A
n M9014 gateway and a T9014 IPS each require a minimum of three switching fabric modules, and
slots 14 and 15 must be installed with switching fabric modules.
3 LEDs
The module provides LEDs to show its operating status.

Flashing (0.5 Hz) Off The switching fabric module is operating properly.
Off On The switching fabric module is faulty.
Flashing (0.5 Hz) On The temperature of the switching fabric module has exceeded the
upper or lower limit.

On Off The switching fabric module is starting up.
4 Installing or removing the module
CAUTION:
•Wear a well-grounded ESD-preventive wrist strap before you install or remove the module.
•When you install or remove the module, avoid touching the components on it.
4.1 Installing the module
1. Face the rear panel of the device.
2. Remove the filler panel from the target slot.
This example uses slot 15.
3. Place the module vertically with the component side facing left. Open the ejector levers and
gently push the module into the slot along the guide rails, as shown by callout 1 in Figure 3.
4. Close the ejector levers. Make sure the module is in close contact with the backplane, as shown
by callout 2 in Figure 3.
5. Use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the captive screws on the module, as shown by callout 3
in Figure 3.

(1) Gently push the module into the slot along the guide rails until the module is in close contact with the
backplane.
(2) Close the ejector levers.
(3) Use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the captive screws.
(4) Installation is finished.
4.2 Removing the module
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screws on the module until all pressure is
released.
2. Simultaneously open the ejector levers on the module to separate the module from the
backplane, and pull the module slowly out of the chassis along the guide rails.
3. Place the module on an anti-static workbench or put it in an anti-static bag, with the component
side facing up.
If you are not to install a new module, install a filler panel in the slot to prevent dust and ensure
good ventilation in the device.
