5 Commissioning
Following installation the device will be immediately ready for use; no further
measures are required.
6Operation
NOTE!
The eyepiece (3) must be set according to the refraction of the co-
observer.
6.1 Setting the viewing height (Second observer tube long)
The second observer tube can be turned around the horizontal axis coming laterally
out of the beam splitter. This enables the viewing height in the eyepiece to be varied
so that the second observer can look into the eyepiece at a freely adjustable
inclination angle.
FORBIDDEN!
The viewing height should not be adjusted during the examination, as
the patient or person carrying out the examination could be injured.
To adjust the viewing height, the release button (9) must be released first of all. To
do this, the elbow at the side of the beam splitter must be held so that the thumb is
positioned on top of the release button. To stabilize the slit lamp, the other hand
should be used to support the tube. Press and hold the release button and turn the
tube about the horizontal axis on the beam splitter. When the desired inclination
angle is reached, release the release button and turn the tube carefully until the next
engaging point is reached.

6.2 Adjusting the image upright position (Second observer
tube long)
The image visible through the eyepiece is turned about the visual axis by adjusting
the viewing height of the second observer. The image is uprighted by adjusting the
twist grip (8).
7 Decommissioning
Decommissioning is not required. However, we recommend dismounting the second
observer tube (long) after use in order to prevent accidental impacts.

9.1 Device inspection
The following procedure should be used to check that the second observer tubes
are working correctly:
• Insert the test rod into the radial movement bearing, whilst at the same time
aligning the surface to the microscope at a right angle.
• Set the slit length to 8 or 14 mm.
• Set the illumination intensity to 50%.
• Set the magnification in the microscope to max.
• Set the eyepieces in such a way that the test rod is in sharp focus. In doing so,
turn the ocular from the (+) to the (-) side.
• For all magnifications, the structure of the test rod must be shown in sharp
focus.
• In the second observer tubes, the same area must also be in sharp focus at all
magnifications
9.2 Servicing
To guarantee a long service life, the device must be cleaned weekly as described
and protected with the dust cover when not in use. We recommend having the
device inspected once a year by an authorized service technician.
