I. INTRODUCTION
TheHamiltonmodel RNS-CCTis a singlerear-load changer designedto accept creditcards or Hamilton
CustomerValueCards todispense tokens. Itprovides a cost effectivewayfor the carwashoperator to
allowhis customerstouse creditcards to purchasecar washservicesin thebays oratthe vacuumswithout
havingtoinstallcardreadersateachof theselocations. This machineworks exclusivelywith theHamilton
DataAccessNetworkand itsassociated components.

II. INSTALLATION
NOTE:It isveryimportant to readand understand allof these instructions
before attempting installation. HAMILTON WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE
FORINJURYDUETOIMPROPER INSTALLATION.
Mounting
1. DURING INSTALLATION,REMOVEALLMAJOR COMPONENTS FROM
THECHANGER.
2. Cut anopeningin thewallmeasuring a minimumof34-5/8"Hx 9"Wfor RNS,34-
3/4" H x 18-1/8" W for DRS.
3. Caulk aroundtheoutside edgeofthe opening.
4. Place thecabinetintheopeningandpress untilthe flangeisflushonallsides.
5. Fasten thecabinetby boltingorwelding a 2"angleiron onbothsides ofthecabinet.
Hamilton will not be responsible for injury due to improper installation.
FACEPLATE: 38 5/8" H x 12" Wfor RNS, 38 1/4" H x 21 5/8" Wfor DRS.

Electrical
Thischanger isoperated on120 VAC, 60Hz.Thischanger uses a 5AMPCIRCUITBREAKER.Thisunit
maybe hard-wiredwith conduit ifdesired.AGROUNDFAULTINTERRUPTERISREQUIRED.The
recommendedGroundFaultInterruptershouldhavethefollowingspecifications:
• 120 VAC
• 15 AMP
• 6-10mAtrip level
• Shouldnottrip whenpower isremovedfrom circuit.
Attached to the main harness is a 1-pin white Molex connected to a white wire. There should be a bright
yellowtagattachedtothiswirewiththefollowingwarning:
WARNING: Forsecurityreasons,thisplugshould remaindisconnecteduntil
suchtime asyouneed toutilizethehopper’smanualrunswitch.
Thereisnoneedtoconnectthisplugfornormaloperation.Ifforsomereasonyouwishtoutilizethemanualrun
switch,besure tounplugtheMolex afterward.

TooperatetheRNS-CCTtheusermustfollowtheinstructions displayed onthe machines2-line20-character
LCDdisplay. The SCROLLbutton isusedto selectfromup tosixprogrammable charge/tokenamounts,or
toselect CustomerValue Cardbalance check.
Theuserfirstselectstheamountoftokens he wantstopurchasebypressingtheSCROLLbutton,then swipes
acreditcard. Next themachinewill display a“PROCESSING…”message whileitvalidates the cardusing
theDataAccess Network. This usually onlytakes a few seconds, thenit dispenses thetokens. Ifonly one
charge/tokenamount is programmed then theuser doesnot haveto make a selection first. Simplyswipe a
creditcardandthe machinewilldispensethe programmed amountoftokens.

IV. PROGRAMMING
Programmingthevariousconfigurationparametersin the RNS-CCTcanbeaccomplishedusingtwomecha-
nisms;the handheld programmerand the D.A.N.configuration screens. Thehandheldmust beusedto pro-
gramthenetworksettingsthatestablisha connection totheDataAccessNetwork. After thenetwork connec-
tion has been established the rest of the programming can be done using the handheld or the D.A.N. user
interface.
DisconnecttheDB-9 connectorandharnessfrom thecontrollerandconnect thehandheldprogrammer.
Nowcycle power orpress the resetbutton on the controller sothat it willrecognize that thehandheld pro-
grammerhasbeenconnected. Press the“ESC”buttononthe handheldandabriefmessage “CONNECTED
TODTVVERSIONX.XX” will bedisplayedfollowedbythe mainmenu.

Oncethatscreenappears,disconnectyourhandheldcablefromthecontrollerandreinstalltheoriginalsystem
harness. Nowcycle power or press thereset buttonon thecontroller.
PAYOUTS
The amounts to charge the credit card and number of tokens to dispense can be programmed using the
configurationscreenavailablefromthe DAN,orbyusingthehandheld interface. If youdon’twanttouseall
ofthe six possibleselection choicessetthe chargeamountto zeroandthat selectionwillbe skipped. Ifonly
oneselectionisleftprogrammedwith anon-zero chargeamountthentheuserwillnot berequired topushthe
buttontomakeaselection. Since therearenochoicesforthe user inthiscasehesimplyswipes acardandthe
machinedispensestheprogrammedamountof tokens.
Ifyouareusing HamiltonCustomerValueCardstohelp marketyourcarwashyoucan allowyourcustomers
tochecktheir cardbalanceat thismachine. To make“BalanceCheck” one oftheselection choicesenterthe
specialcharge amountof $99.99. Thiswill presentthe customerwith theoption to swipe a valuecard then
displaytheremainingbalance.
OPTIONS
You have a programmable option to enable or disable accepting value cards for purchase of tokens at this
machine. You might choose not to accept value cards if you are both selling value cards at a discount and
offeringbonus payouts forlarger tokenpurchases. Thisprevents yourcustomer from “doubledipping” the
incentivediscounts. Valuecard balance checksare stillavailable in eithercase. Bydefaultaccepting value
cardsis enabled.
Youhaveaprogrammableoptiontoenableordisableacceptingcreditcardsatthemachine. Youmightchoose
nottoaccept creditcardsif you areusingHamiltonValueCardsand yourmainpurpose for themachinewas
toconvert thecard value into tokens thatcan beused easilyin thewash bays, vacs, and vendingmachines.
Thismakesthemachineacceptonly HamiltonValueCardseliminatingthehighertransactionfees associated
withcredit cards. By defaultaccepting creditcardsis enabled.
SPECIAL STATUS DISPLAY MESSAGES
Normal operation when the machine is powered up is to display the controller version number for a few
secondsthen“Welcome”withscrollinginstructionsforthecustomer. Ifitfailstooperateproperlyandgoesout

ofserviceone ofthefollowingmessagesmaybedisplayed. Hereisanexplanationofthesemessagesthatmay
behelpfulfortroubleshooting.
eDEVICE NOT FOUND
Thismessageindicatesthecontrollercouldnot communicate withtheserialtoEthernetconverter. Checkthe
harnessconnectionsatthe DB-9connectoronthe controller andtheRJ-45connector attheserialto Ethernet
converter. Also checkthe statusLEDs ontheconverter forpower andother activity.
NO ETHERNET LINK
Thismessageis displayedwhenthe serialtoEthernet converterreportsto thecontrollerthat itcannot finda
physicalconnection to theEthernet network. Checkthe CAT-5 cablingbetween the converter and itsfirst
pointofactivetermination(usually a networkswitch).
DAN NOT CONNECTED
Thismessageis displayed whenthecontrollerfinds anEthernetnetworkpresent butisnotable toestablisha
socket connection to the Data Access Network. Check the DAN IP and Controller IP settings for any
conflicts. ConfirmthattheD.A.N. programisrunning. Checkto see iftheD.A.N.is successfully connected
toanyotherdevice onthesamenetwork. It is notrequiredthatthe D.A.N. beconnectedtothe internetatthis
pointhoweverit willbenecessaryto successfullyprocessa card transaction.
Itisnormalforthismessagetobedisplayedforafew minutes afterpower up ora network disconnectionuntil
thesocket connectioncanbe re-established.

V. Validator Mounting
STA Mounting Instructions
1. Unplug thepowercord orremoveall powerfromthe system atthe circuit
breaker.
2. Remove theexistingStackerandValidator.
3. Remove theValidatorbracketfrom themountingstudslocatedon thefront
wallof thecabinet. Disconnectthe heaterpad (if present)and removeitas
well.
4. Secure thenewValidatormounting bracketassembly (37-0055B)tothe
studsonthe frontwallof the cabinetusingfour 1/4-20nuts.
5. Secure theadhesivebacked foamseal to theinside ofthecabinet front
aroundtheValidatoropening.
6. Connect thesmall end ofthe 9-pinharness adapterto the STAValidator
andthe otherend tothe systemharness.
7. Slide theValidatorintotheValidatorbracketfrom therear.
8. Connect theStacker harnessand hangthe Stackerfrom theback of the
Validatormountingbracket.

2. Then mountto face ofcabinet using(4)1/4 -20 Hex nuts-#3and (4)internal

3. Take Slider-#9 andValidator Face Plate-#10 andinsert (4) 8-32 x 5/8ball
studs-#11 throughFace Plateand insert intofront ofcabinet.Thentake (4)
8-32nylonnuts-#8 andtightenon ballstuds.
4. Mount (4) 10-32x 3/16 Phillisterhead screws-#17toValidatorPlate-#7.
Screwingthemfrominsidetoout.
5. Then mountSecurityBracket-#1 to thebottomof thetwoPhillister head
screwsso itswings upand down.
6. TakeU-Channel-#5 andplaceit insideofValidatorPlate-#7 andmatch up
withstudson faceofcabinet.
7. Then bytaking (4)1/4-20Hex nuts-#3 and (4)1/4 internallock washers-
#4,mountto cabinetandtighten down.
8. Then takeValidatorand placeinto U-Channel-#5andmount itwith (4)8-
32x 5/8Philipsheadscrews-#2. Thenswing SecurityPlate-#1 upand hook
ontothe toptwo Phillisterhead screws-#17 ofValidatorPlate-#7.
9. For theCoinco®Validatoronly, takePower PackHolder-#15and mount
tostuds on door using (2) 6-32 Hex nuts-#16.
10. Forthe Mars® Validatoronly,Take RelayBox-#15 and mountabove
PowerBox onface ofcabinet using(2) 10-24 nylon lock nuts-#16.
