Circle Cover Slide Gizmo Compatibility
The Circle Cover Slide Gizmo is compatible with:
•22 mm diameter, siliconized circle glass cover slides (0.22 mm thick)

Cover Slide Gizmo Description
The Dispenser holds up to 78 22 mm x 0.22 mm plain or siliconized circle
cover slides. The dispenser is notched on the front and back side to allow easy
finger access when loading and unloading cover slides. The Dispenser moves to
the right and left ends of the cover slide Gizmo along two chromed Rails. The
rails are positioned over the cover slide Platform. Each Rail is secured to the
Cover Slide Gizmo with 2 mm allen head screws. A top edge of the Platform is
notched at each cover slide position to allow finger or forceps access to the cover
slides dispensed onto the Platform. The Base of the Cover Slide Gizmo has
four rubber feet to keep the Cover Slide Gizmo flat and stationary. A clear plastic
Cover supplied with the Cover Slide Gizmo fits over the Dispenser to keep cover
slides clean during operation.
Using the Cover Slide Gizmo
Position the Cover Slide Gizmo such that the finger and forceps access is fac-
ing you. Clean any dust or debris from the Cover Slide Gizmo. Position the
Dispenser all the way to the left end of the Cover Slide Gizmo, Figure 2. Re-
move the Cover from the Dispenser. Fill the Dispenser with 22 mm x 0.22
mm circle cover slides. The Dispenser can hold up to 78 cover slides. Be sure
no cover slides are positioned on the Platform to the right of the Dispenser.
Place your thumb and first finger gently onto the front and back top edge of the
Dispenser, no need to press down on the Dispenser. Slide the Dispenser all the
way to the right end of the Platform until the Dispenser is against the right end
stop. Six cover slides will be positioned onto the platform. See Figure 3 below.
Build your drop. One at a time, two at a time...six at a time, the choice is yours.
Building drops one at a time will expose drops to less evaporation than building
six drops at a time. To remove slides, one at a time from the Cover Slide Gizmo,
gently place your thumb and first finger on opposite sides of the slide, lift and
place the cover slide onto the crystallization plate. Or, one can use forceps to
gently grasp the cover slide and place the cover slide onto the crystallization
plate. Once all of the cover slides are removed from the Platform, to dispense
more cover slides, simply move the Dispenser all the way to the left end of the
Platform until the Dispenser is against the right end stop. Six cover slides will
be positioned onto the Platform.
To dispense a single cover slide, simply move the Dispenser one position on the
Platform. Please see Figure 4. The black background of the Cover Slide Gizmo
allows one to see if the drop remains clear or contains precipitate during the
drop build.

Cover Slide Gizmo Do’s and Don’t’s
Do use your Cover Slide Gizmo to easily dispense slides.
Do keep your Cover Slide Gizmo clean and happy.
Do feel free to name your Cover Slide Gizmo.
Do NOT move the Dispenser over already dispensed cover slides as this may
result in damaged cover slides and a Cover Slide Gizmo jam.
Do NOT over tighten the four 2 mm allen screws which screws which secure
the chrome rails to the Cover Slide Gizmo as this will position the Dispenser
too close to the Platform.
Cover Slide Gizmo Maintenance
The Cover Slide Gizmo requires no special maintenance. Keep the Dispenser
and Platform free of dust and debris. One can clean the Cover Slide Gizmo
with a water soluble general purpose cleaner, or ordinary window cleaner. If
the chrome rails become loose, use a 2 mm allen key to very gently turn the
allen head screw clockwise until the screw makes contact with the chrome
rail. Lubrication of the Cover Slide Gizmo is not needed nor recommended.
