This instruction guide will provide you with the necessary
information for the correct use of the pipette. Please read it
carefullybeforeusingthepipette.Ifyouneedadditionaltechnical
information,donothesitatetoe-mailusat[email protected].
Please examine this product carefully. Make sure that no
damage has occurred during shipment. If there is any
damage, notify your Dealer.
Each pipette is supplied complete with:
• Two tips
• Instruction Guide
• Rigid carrying case
Note: Keep all packing material until you did verify that the
pipette works correctly. Any defective item must be
returned in its original packing.
PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
1. Use thepipetteinavertical positionwhenever possible.
2. Operateslowlyandsmoothly.Aspirationanddispensingshould
beencarried-out with the same speed.
3. Thetipshouldbeimmersedinthesampleliquidtheminimum
necessary (2-4 mm). Greater depths may cause inaccurate
measures.
4. Change the tip whenever a different kind of sample is to be
aspiredorwhendropletsremainontheinsidewallofthetip
from the previous pipetting operation.
5. Work alwayswith samplesatroom temperature.
1. Liquid should never enter the pipette shaft. To avoid this:
• never use pipette without a tip
• donotinvertpipetteupsidedownorlayitflatwhenthere
is a liquid in the tip
• pressand release the push button slowly and smoothly.
2. When pipetting concentrated acids or alkalis or corrosive
solutions, pay particular attention to avoid contact of the
liquidwiththepipetteshaft,oritcouldbeseriouslydamaged.
Extensivecontactwithcorrosivefumesmayresultinpremature
ageingofinternalcomponents of the pipette.
3. After use, store the pipette in its case or in a clean safe
place.
PIPETTE MAINTENANCE
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
HI 731340/1/2 is an air-displacement volumetric pipette
designed to measure and transfer fixed volumes of liquids
that needs to be precisely dosed.
The liquid is aspirated into deposable tips. The use of
disposable tips eliminate cross contamination of the liquid
samples.
To discard used tips, the pipette is equipped with a built-in
tip ejector to protect the user from contaminated tips.

OPERATION
1.Mountingatip:
Place a new tip on the pipette by pressing and gently rotating
the shaft into the tip. The tip will fit firmly the shaft.
Note: Never use the pipette without a tip.
2. Aspiration:
•Press the pushbutton to the first stop (fig. A). Holding the
pipette vertically, immerse the tip into the sample liquid to
thedepthof2-4mm.
•Releasethepushbuttonslowlyandsmoothly (3-6 seconds).
Pause(1-2seconds)toallowthefullvolumeofliquidtofillup
thetip(longerforhigh densityorviscousliquids)(fig.B).
•Withdrawthepipetteoutof the liquid. Ifanyliquidremains
ontheoutsideofthetip,wipeitawaycarefullywithalint-free
cloth(takecarenot to touchthetiporifice).
3. Dispensing:
•Holding the pipette vertically, position the tip end against
thesidewallofthereceivingcuvet at a 40-45°angle.Expel
theliquidbypressingslowlythepushbutton;passbythefirst
stoptothesecondstop (bottomofthestrokelength).Wait1-
3 seconds to empty completely the tip (longer for viscous
liquids)(fig. C).
•Stillholdingthepushbuttondepressed,withdrawthepipette
sliding it along the wall of the vessel. Then release the
pushbutton.
•Discardthetiptowastecontainerbypressingthe tip ejector
button (fig. D).
•The pipette is ready for the next pipetting cycle. To prevent
crosscontaminationuseanewtipwhenevera differentkind
ofsampleistobeaspirated.
•The pipette tip may be used several times, rinse the tip
immediatelyafteruse.Adirtytipmaycausecrosscontamination
orwrongsamplevolumesmaybetransferred.
