VCI10-AH is a “HART modem” and its main function is to interface smartphones/tablets with the HART®
network through USB communication, allowing data exchange between those parts according to HART®
protocol.
Interface compact size and low energy consumption make VCI10-AH an ideal solution for HART®
protocol. Its robustness makes the interface adapted to any plant or process, with easy handle for user.
VCI10-AH is connected to smartphones/tablets devices through a micro-USB connection and to HART®
network via two clip probes, as shown on Figure 3.1.
Figure 3.1 –VCI10-AH connection.
The interface physical connection is resumed to only one step:
Insert the VCI10-HA interface on the micro-USB port and plug the clips on the HART® bus;
VCI10-AH allows user to power the HART®device, whatever it is powered by voltage or current
(transmitters or valve positioners, respectively). This option must not be enabled when device is connected
to HART/4-20 mA bus (only for bench work or disconnected from bus). Check “Pwr”switch: when it is
positioned to “On”, interface will provide power to device according to “Out” switch (“V”for transmitters or
“mA”for positioners). When “Pwr”switch is positioned to “Off”, device must be powered by the HART/4-20
mA bus.
The interface also offers a 250 Ohm internal load to assist the communication between transmitters
and the HART®modem contained on the interface. Check the available options on the topic Label, on this
manual.
