The One Upper creates an electrostatic
“spark” from the anion and ion generators
performing their charge. This will not
cause burns or damage to your hair.
The One Upper is ETL certified and
deemed safe by intertek.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. Use on dry hair only.
2. Brush hair prior to use and straighten
hair section by section.
3. Place the brush straightener under
each section close to the scalp, bristles
facing outward. Hold hair ends firmly to
create tension and pull brush down the
length of hair from scalp to ends.
4. When you’ve finished straightening
from the underside, go over the outer
layer of your hair in sections (like you
would with a regular hair brush) so that
the tourmaline infused plate comes in
direct contact with all of your hair.
5. Repeat as necessary.
6. Allow your hair to cool before running
your fingers through it.
To create volume: With the straight edge close
to the scalp and the bristles facing up, lift
upward and outward using a rainbow motion.
As the hair cools, finger lift hair at the roots.
We also recommend using the Drama Queen
volumizing powder mist from our Style Me line
(sold separately).
RECOMMENDED HEAT SETTINGS:
Delicate, thin, easy to style hair
140F - 300
Average to thick or color treated hair
300F-375F
Thick, wavy, or coarse hair
375F - 450F
To avoid damage, use the heat setting that
is appropriate for your hair type.

WARNING:
To avoid scalding, DO NOT TOUCH the inner
brush while it is heating up, during operation,
or after use until it has completely cooled.
OPERATION:
1. Insert power plug into an electrical
outlet, ensuring that the plug matches
the socket.
2. To turn on your straightener, press the
power button. Select your desired
temperature by pressing the </> button
once for each heat setting.
3. Once the hair styling process is
complete, press the power button and
hold it down until your One Upper shuts
off. Unplug it, and allow your appliance
to cool prior to storage.
4. Never use this appliance near water.
5. Safety precautions included, but not
limited to those stated herein, should
be observed at all times while
appliance is in use, especially if the
appliance is used around children.
6. The first time using this appliance there
may be a slight burning smell or very
light smoke which is caused by the
residual oil on the PTC heater metal
parts burning off when heated. It is
normal and safe to use.
CARE:
- After powering off, unplug the brush
straightener and let it cool down.
- Do not rinse with water as it may
damage the styling tool.
- For cleaning the handle, wipe with a
moist cloth. Do not use harsh products,
benzene, or paint thinner as it may
damage your appliance.
- Clean after each use to avoid build up;
especially when using with hair products.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT
ALCI SAFETY PLUG:
1. “TEST” button ensures that the ALCI
plug device is operational. “RESET”
button clears the ground fault and
restores the ALCI to normal operation.
2. The ALCI should be tested every use.
3. When the RED button extends out, the
ALCI has operated. This indicates that
the appliance is not in proper functioning
condition and is to be discarded or
returned to Head Kandy for examination
and repair.
4. If there is any indication that the
appliance does not operate in the proper
functioning condition, please contact
Head Kandy for repair options (see
“Limited Lifetime Warranty” section).
WARNING: KEEP OUT OF THE REACH
OF CHILDREN! As with most electrical
appliances, parts are electrically live even
when the switch is off. To reduce the risk of
death by electric shock:
- Always unplug after use
- DO NOT use while bathing, in the shower,
near basins or other vessels containing
water
- DO NOT store or place this appliance
where it can fall or be pulled into a bathtub
or sink
- DO NOT submerge or drop into water or
other liquid
- Unplug the appliance before cleaning
AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF FEATURE:
The One Upper has an automatic shut off
feature for your safety. The One Upper will
shut off after 60 minutes of use. If you want
to use it again, press the power button.
FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
This appliance may have a polarized plug.
As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in
the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to
defeat this safety feature.
LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY
This warranty is for the original purchaser of
the Head Kandy One Upper and is
nontransferable. Head Kandy LLC warrants
that this appliance will have no defects in
material and workmanship under normal
household usage for lifetime from the date of
purchase. Keep the original receipt for proof
of purchase to attain warranty provisions.
For lifetime from the date of purchase, Head
Kandy LLC will repair or replace, on its own
accord, any Head Kandy One Upper or parts
found to be defective. This warranty does not
cover any shipping or handling charges
which may incur. This warranty does not
include any damages caused by misuse,
accident, neglect, abuse, use with a voltage
other than what’s marked on the product, or
for commercial purposes.
If your Head Kandy One Upper is found to be
defective within the time period of this
warranty, please contact the Head Kandy
LLC warranty department. If the product is
discontinued or no longer available, a
replacement may be made with a similar
product of equal or greater value. Any
attempt to repair or service this product on
your own will void the warranty.

STORING:
- Turn the appliance off by pressing the
power button. Unplug from the outlet.
- Do not wrap the cord around the brush.
- Allow for the appliance to cool before
storing. Store in a dry, safe place out of the
reach of children.
