HOJDAVAK BABY User manual

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Dear Customer, Dear Parent,
We are delighted that you have chosen our textile hammock cradle, which is
designed for babies, including newborns. This is a product that we have made
with love in the Czech Republic in partnership with Czech manufacturers and
suppliers using high-quality materials. By purchasing this product, you are
also supporting sheltered workshops.
Thank you for your purchase!
The Hojdavak Team
Hojdavak Baby cradle quickly calms your baby makes sure they get some
much-needed quality sleep. The optional spring, which we recommend
buying, provides rhythmic swinging (in an up-down direction). This was the
same movement experienced by baby experienced when the mother was
walking during pregnancy, which is why it makes the baby feel safe and calm.
In the cradle, the baby lies in a ball position – the back is slightly round
and the legs are bent towards the body. This is how most physiotherapists
recommend carrying a baby. It promotes the proper development of the
spine and alleviates colic. The cradle allows both the baby and the mother
to relax. The cradle gives the parent more time for themselves and the rest
of the family.
Our cradle is TÜV certified, which means it complies with strict European
standards on general product safety (European Community Directive
2001/95/EC).

INTENDED USE
The Hojdavak hammock cradle is used to rock babies, lull them to sleep,
and enable them to doze. It may be used by newborns (but does not
replace a cot).
Any methods and conditions of use other than those specified by us are
not permitted! The cradle is not a toy. It must be handled only by an adult,
and in the manner prescribed for use.
SAFETY ALERT
• Carefully read the instructions for use and use the product according to
the instructions given – any modifications and changes to the product
that have a negative impact on safety and health are not permitted. Do
not hang the cradle near a fire or other heat sources.
• Do not leave a baby unattended – the cradle can only be used in the
immediate presence of an adult from the moment the baby is able to sit
or move in the hammock. The manufacturer is not responsible for any
accidents. The cradle is not intended to be played with.
• Do not exceed the permitted bearing capacity of 15 kg – the cradle,
including the spring, can be loaded to a maximum of 15 kg, otherwise
there is a risk of damage.
• Follow the safety instructions for the spring (if applicable) – the spring
can only be used with a properly installed safety rope that passes
through the upper and lower snap-hooks and through the spring. The
rope secures the cradle against overload or spring breakage. For more
details, please refer to the instructions on the use of the spring.
• Regularly check the condition of the ropes used – they must be in
perfect condition and free of mechanical wear and tear. If damage is
detected, no matter how little, replace the rope immediately!
• Regularly check the strength of the suspension – the ceiling screw, the
door-frame horizontal bar, separate stand and/or other components.
Position the cradle only in places that will safely support the load. Avoid
gypsum board ceilings or other similar types of wall-covering. Consult
an anchoring specialist on how to suspend the hammock safely. Check
the strength of the screws and brackets by conducting a load test using
your own weight.
• Packaging – after the product has been unpacked, plastic bags and other
packaging must be kept out of reach of children under 3 years of age.

MAINTENANCE
The textile bag can be washed at 40°C. The mattress cannot be washed
because of the buckwheat husks. If stained, it can be cleaned with a damp
cloth. Therefore, it is necessary to protect it with a case – see the organic
case available. The product has a useful life of at least 2 years.
DISPOSAL
Disposing of the product if it becomes irreparably damaged or at the end
of its useful life – the product must be disassembled and separated into
its individual parts, components and materials. These are disposed of in
accordance with laws and regulations applicable at the time of disposal.
WHERE TO HANG IT
The cradle needs to be positioned correctly in order for it to work properly!
Install it somewhere you spend a lot of time during the day so that the baby
is always in your sight. Somewhere enabling you to sit by the cradle and rock
it comfortably. This will let take care of any other children, read or work on a
laptop while rocking the baby.
HOW TO HANG IT
The cradle can be suspended from any secure anchor
(with a minimum bearing capacity of 100 kg), such as
a screw installed in the ceiling, a door-frame horizontal
bar, a separate stand or any other fixed element that
can support the load (stairs, beams, a tree branch, etc.).
The suspension point must be at least 190 cm above
the ground, including the Baby Spring, so that there is
sucient space to swing the cradle comfortable during
the entire period of use. Dimensions of the Hojdavak
Baby cradle: see Figure 3 on Page 5.
A higher suspension point will require a rope to extend
the length. Hang the cradle at a height at which you
can comfortably put the baby into the cradle. There
must be a space of at least 50 cm above the ground.
Tie the rope to extend the hanging in such a way that it
does not fray at the attachment point. A cow hitch and
one-way knots are advisable; see Figure 1.
Consult an anchorage specialist for safe installation of
the anchor. There are many ways to do this, depending
on the possibilities available to you and your
preferences. Our suspension methods can be found on
the e-shop under “Hammock Suspension”.

Run a test to make sure the cradle is
correctly installed before using it for
the first time and whenever the safety
rope is handled.
Figure 2: RUN A TEST!
Take the large snap-hook under the
spring and, using downward pressure,
pull the spring as much as the safety
rope allows.
The cradle must still be hanging
above the ground when the spring is
fully extended.
If the cradle touches the ground,
shorten the safety rope by sliding
both knots up closer to the spring.
Repeat the test!

CRADLE ASSEMBLY
Take the large snap-hook from the Baby Hojdavak package and put it into
the spring’s small snap-hook with a screw opening, or into the prepared
anchor or rope (if you are not using the spring).
3
Final step – run the test shown in Figure 2, Page 5, to ensure that the cradle
remains suspended above the ground when the spring is fully extended.
9
Prepare a firm anchor to hang the cradle (screw, stand, etc.) that can support
a load of at least 100 kg. If the anchor is more than 200 cm above the ground,
use an extra rope for additional length so that the cradle does not hang too
high and you can comfortably put the baby into the cradle. You can buy an
extra rope from our e-shop under the “Hammock Suspension” section.
1
2Take the spring (if used) and check that the safety rope is properly installed.
It must pass through the upper and lower snap-hook and through the
spring. Its ends are firmly tied with a knot. Never use the spring without
the safety rope! More information can be found in the spring instructions,
downloadable from the Hojdavak.cz website. Insert the connecting piece
into the prepared anchor or rope and screw it in.
Put the mattress (with the buckwheat husk on top) in the bag up to the top
(back) edge. XL option: place any fabric that extends beyond the mattress
under the mattress. If the mattress is short for the baby, remove the
mattress from the cradle and place a folded fleece blanket (not included)
in the pocket under the mattress.
5
Make a loop on both sides of the pull rope and insert one of them into
the snap-hook. Swing the cradle with the spring by pulling the pull rope
downwards.
7
Position the baby so that the baby’s head is near the top edge. This ensures
that the head is slightly elevated. Then tie the strings together in a bow.
8
Take the textile bag and gradually gather the cloth at the top of the fold
and put it into the snap-hook. Close the snap-hook. The baby is placed in
the bag from the side with the laces.
4
6Spread the sides of the bag evenly and insert the wooden spacers (bars)
into the grooves.
